Had the Oregon Fog Hazy IPA and the house bacon cheeseburger. Burger was cooked more than I prefer but next time I'll just ask that it be cooked less. The burger also kinda fell apart on me because of the tomato compote on it. I supposed the steak knife holding it together was a sign I should have cut it in half. My burger was accompanied by a pile of fries I couldn't even but a dent into. But they were a nice, crispy fry that I quite enjoy and if I wasn't trying to watch my portions I would have enjoyed more of them. Service was also excellent. I really appreciate that my server remembered my water with my beer. I've had too many experiences lately where I order an adult beverage and a water and the water never shows up... I love that this brew pub is in an old fire station and that they have tried to maintain the regional firefighting museum that I assume once took over the entire place. The museum really needs some TLC and while I understand the priority is the restaurant it was obvious some of the displays were missing things. It also bummed me out to see the memorial display of the museum founder's turnouts kind of hidden in a corner. But that all being said if the opportunity presents itself I will be back to try other beers and food. Has a ton of potential if they tweek a few things. Chicken sandwich and peanut butter burger awesome! The pork tacos and Mac & Cheese were ok. If the Mac had more cheese it would have been much better . The music volume is ridiculous. If you have tinnitus or any previous ear damage I would wear ear plugs. I will never understand why places insist on having volume this loud. Litteraly have to raise your voice to have a conversation at your table and wear heating protection, especially if you have hearing damage. HEAT.... everyone was wearing coats and hats because it was so cold. There is no need to keep the heat off when it is 40° outside. Staff is super friendly and the wait is no issue since you can tour the museum. We will give it another chance if we head out that way but I will be sure to have my ear plugs and extra layers. read more

Short review: Great food! Great service! Awesome beer! Fried chicken sandwhich was to die for. The pork belly BLT was yummy! Between the two I would go for the fried chicken sandwhich but both were on point. The French fries were also incredible! Trip from AZ to WA brought us to an overnight stay in this quaint town. My mom and I chose Side A Brewing by the reviews and website menu with pictures. The House burger was super delicious, bacon was perfectly cook. Fresh cut string fries were tasty. I got a flight with IPAs and landed with Oregon Hazy IPA as my favorite. Highly recommend a stop in to sip and eat out in the beer garden. read more

A jolly good stop in LaGrande. Solidly decent beer, small selection, but well crafted. Small but interesting menu, lots of yummy options. We had a couple of salads (post Thanksgiving) and they were surprisingly good: lovely mixed greens, house pickled onion, fresh carrot, and a good tomato. The soup was homemade, and delicious. Stopped in for dinner and a brew on a Wednesday night. I was seated promptly and given the option to sit outside, which I took. Restaurant is clean and the outside seating was nice even if it may have been a parking lot that faces an alley. I was a little disappointed they didn't have a TV, but I know some breweries don't like the sports bar vibe. Service was excellent throughout, hostess was friendly, server was attentive, and food/drinks came quickly. I had the basic burger with tomato jam, caramelized onions, and bacon. I'm on a no carb kick so I requested no bun, which wasn't an issue. I subbed a side salad with ranch for the fries. Burger was tasty, but a little pink in the middle. Good thing that's how I like 'em! Probably too pink for most people. For beer, I had the 10oz Two Pan IPA. I really enjoyed the beer, crisp, clean, and wasn't too hoppy. Wish I wasn't driving, I would have had some more! Total bill was $20, which I thought was really reasonable. Definitely worth a visit! read more

I've been twice now... It's a brewery with a pub style menu. I don't frequently drink beer, and haven't tried theirs yet anyway, so I won't talk about that, but I've eaten several food items. The dirty fries are delicious, salty, spicy, and cheesy... They have a fun "Korean" BBQ pork taco appetizer which I enjoyed immensely, though I question the "Korean" aspect of it! I've also had the pork belly BLT, and the bratwurst/sausage plate, both of which were delicious! My only beef? Like many places, quite a few of their menu items seem to be following the ongoing trend of "spice it up!!!" That is sweeping the states these days, and I just can't handle that personally... I'm giving these people one star for ambiance and for our server, Hailey, who worked hard to make our experience better. But man, you have to give your staff something to work with. So the house beer is swill. Our food for a two-top took over an hour, and was cold when it showed up. I had the soup of the day, buffalo cauliflower and dunkelbocl. The beer was great but the food blew me away. The soup was roasted red pepper and tomato bisque. Great flavor, thick hearty texture with perfectly toasted bread. First time trying buffalo cauliflower and I couldn't believe how good it was. Good food and service. We had our kids with us and the staff was accommodating to their needs (crayons and cups to play with). They have a good selection of beer and a small but decent wine selection. We were just passing through and would recommend if you're doing the same.
