We live in Baker City and we usually love to get away and go to Side A! We usually love the atmosphere, and the whole experience. Today we had really bad service. Not because they were busy, or short staffed. Our waitress was totally unattentive. She didn't listen to our order, and then did not come back one time the entire time we were there. We ended up having to go to the bar and order another beverage (while she was on her phone texting). The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the food was still really good. Need to step it up for customer service! read more

Went with my girlfriend on a lunch date, and to me it is the perfect hometown restaurant. It's in a nice place in town and there plenty of windows to look out and they also gave the restaurant nice lighting. The food that we got was absolutely delicious and mouth watering. read more

This place was excellent. Beyond excellent! They had a great beer selection to choose from. The fruit cobbler beer was so different and I loved it! The food was out of this world! We stopped at Side A on our drive back to Boise from Portland and it was an amazing way to end our weekend trip. I wanted something lighter so I got the kale Caesar salad with grilled chicken and it was honestly one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had. My boyfriend got the house burger and it was cooked perfectly medium with tons of flavor. We finished with the chocolate cake which was incredibly delicious. One of the best cakes I've ever had. We will be stopping in again on our next road trip! read more

Stopped in for a hot meal after seven days backpacking in the Wallowa/Eagle Cap Wilderness area. The food is good, portions generous, prices about what you'd expect at a microbrewery. The service was slow, but we were there on the first Saturday before classes started in the Fall, and the place was teeming with college kids. Based on yelp reviews and the fact that we like to try local, non-chain restaurants we went to Side A Brewing for late a late lunch. I had the Korean bbq pork tacos from the starter menu and my husband had the spicy peanut butter cheese burger with dirty fries. It was all very good! There were 3 very generous tacos in my plate that were quite flavorful and definitely a meal. The peanut butter cheese burger was quite interesting and tasty. The meat patty was thick and flavorful and obviously fresh local beef. The spicy peanut butter was surprisingly good and had a kick. The dirty fries were equally delicious! Everything was fresh and nicely presented., even the iced tea. This is a brewery so plenty of beer choices as well. Service and food was great and definitely worth a stop when you are in La Grande! read more

Turned a fumble into a touchdown!! My spouse and I stopped in La Grande due to a winter storm. We ordered dinner and drinks for delivery from Side A. Unfortunately our order was delivered to another hotel. Once the issue came to lite the staff at Side A jumped to correct the situation. They made it right and had a fresh order to our door in 30 minutes. My wife had the black and blue burger, was one of the best we have ever tasted, seriously. The meat loaf special was very good. Chocolate cheesecake outstanding. We are working our way through the beer sampler, but so far so good. I recognize mistakes happen but give 5 stars to Side A for making it right. This place has extremely good food. I swung by on a road trip from Arizona to Washington and was just expecting some pretty good food at a clean place with decent prices. This ended up being the best food on the road trip. I appreciate somewhat healthy and well made food with good flavor. The salad had incredible ingredients, not just the basic stuff. Good. Salty fries. Very busy. Likely the most modern place in town. The sign on the outside does not have the business name only the logo. It's situated within the old firehouse bay doors. Minimal gluten free options. They had 1 cider and I got the Korean tacos(can't be positive it was completely gf). They also had salad options. I'm in town and had the opportunity over a few weeks to try multiple places in town. Side A is a step above the rest. I've eaten here several times and have not been disappointed. The food, beer, and service are all 5 star. In particular, I think I could live off the kale Caesar salad with added ahi tuna. The dirty fries are a great starter and plenty big to share. Family dinner out, a rare occurrence! After all the amazing reviews, I was super excited to try the dirty fries. It was busy, to be expected on homecoming Friday night. The wait to be seated was approximately 30 minutes. We were seated outside, not given an option, it was a little chilly with little ones in short sleeves but we managed. We ordered steak, baked mac n with kielbasa house burger, and chicken bits n fries, and another 30 minute wait or so. Food review portion, here we go. Steak was cooked beautifully, a perfect medium as ordered! Seasoned wonderfully and a real treat. Unfortunately the dirty fries that I was so looking forward to, came out Stone Cold. The flavor was great, and I would like to try them again, hopefully they will be hot next time. The house Burger was flavorful, juicy, and filling. The chicken bits were surprisingly moist, the batter was thin and fantastic, and not overly heavy. I don't order mac and cheese from restaurants, hardly ever. My one and only other time was twisted mac and cheese at Hard Rock Cafe because they are so known for it. I was pleasantly surprised with this mac and cheese. Cavatappi pasta, a wonderful sauce, breadcrumbs, and just enough spice to make this a dish worth ordering again. So the only true let down, was the cold fries on every dish. Ready for the service section? Our waiter was for the most part attentive and proactive. The manager or owner was there but did not come talk to our table, so he did manage to come out and touch bases with all the others. So with that a 3-star rating on this visit, however I am looking forward to trying it again, possibly when they are not so busy. Very accommodating for a large party outside with our dog after a graduation ceremony at EOU. Service was polite, punctual, and overall great. Food was tasty, though it took quite awhile for us to get everything, even for a larger party. When it did arrive, it was tasty and hearty--just the right amount of food. Wow! This place is good! It has a strong hipsters from Portland feel. The long wood table in the middle seats large groups, there are lots of tables around the walls as well as an outside patio and stools at the bar. I had the Brown Out Oatmeal Brown Ale, and although I am no beer expert I thought it was good. For food I had the grilled cheese sandwich and a salad. It was the best grilled cheese I have ever eaten and the salad was just mediocre compared to it. Even the pickle on the side seemed like an insult to the sandwich. I tried some of my mom's sausage and it was juicy and flavorful. It wasn't busy so we got our drink and food very quickly. The staff is very friendly. I found this place delicious and refreshingly different for La Grande. read more

Easy to find eatery that while busy on a Monday night right at 6 pm seated me quickly and had excellent wait staff. My waitress gave a great recommendation of red wine to complement my flat iron steak and everything was delicious! Certainly will return there next time I am in town! read more

This place has a fun atmosphere and AMAZING food. It's the old towns fire station turned into a brew pub and a museum about the history of the fire station. Our server, Haley, was great, she was on top of everything. She gave great recommendations, one if which I selected and was not disappointed! She suggested the Pork Flat Iron Streak with a salad and handcut shoestring fries. We started the night off with Gouda Cheese Beer Soup and "Dirty Fries", both of which are a most have!! Husband drank their house beer Copper & Gold, which also was amazing (I tried it and liked it and I hate beer) We ended the night with a Chocolate Stuffed Cheesecake drizzled with a salted caramel sauce. The other staff were always busy, helping bring everything out, working together and checking on tables. This is a must stop!
