Our first time at Side A Brewing but not our last. Beer was good, I'm an IPA lover. Our family of five had a delicious lunch. I enjoyed the grilled cheese and tomato. Loved the Gouda on it. We walked in with one semi-hangry kiddo, but he was much better after his yummy burger. Our server was lovely. She was patient with the "hangry one" and took the time to ask us about ourselves. She checked in on us a few times and was genuinely friendly. Prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is good. The brewery is located in a converted fire station. Loved the fire hose artwork! This place is right out of Portland! A cool ambiance with great beer, solid food, and a nice kids' menu. They also have coloring for kids to keep them occupied while they wait. This is a very nice addition to the Eastern Oregon dining scene. read more

We tried this place for an early lunch. It was pretty good. I had the sausage entree and enjoyed it. Sausages were very good. Fries had cooled a little so I suppose they were on the plate first. Sauerkraut was ok...by standards of that side dish. My wife got the peanut butter and bacon burger. It tasted good initially but was incredibly spicy. Entrees were so large that we skipped dessert. The beer was interesting. The ipa style beers were low on ibu but tasty enough. The pale ale was ok. The stout was strange but interesting flavors. There was a high alcohol dark "cascadia" ale (if I remember the description and I can't remember its name) and it grew on me. At 10% alcohol I couldn't do too much of it. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Good place to go for lunch if you don't have plans that involve being sober. read more

Went here for trivia night and order dinner as well. We order dirty fries which were really tasty but cold by the time they reached our table. Ordered the house burger and fried chicken sandwich, both were really delicious. Had the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert which was to die for! Service was less than desirable, refills didn't come soon enough and we were often left with empty glasses. Trivia was fun but pretty disorganized. Overall, the menu seems slightly overpriced and it takes forever to get your food, even when they aren't busy. Food was good but there is a possibility it's going to come out cold. Cross your fingers for a good server who checks in with you! May give it another try in a year or so when they hype goes away. read more

Ate here before the shut down not impressed the meat tasted old. The fries for what you got were just ok just few and far between. The ale was kind of flat and tasteless. The place was clean and friendly but needs to put the whole puzzle together and make it a complete picture with good food and drink to go along with the atmosphere. read more

We stopped here on our way from Portland to Boise for dinner. We wanted to avoid fast food and we're happy we chose Side A! Service was quick. Food and beer was yummy. They allowed our dog on their back patio and even provided a water bowl and he was greeted by one of the servers with treats!! We will definitely be back on another trip through town. read more

Lively place that seems to garner a good crowd for all ages. The adjacent firehouse museum was fun and kept our kids occupied while we waited to be served. Tacos were decent and the kids chicken strips were freshly prepared, tender and, juicy. The patio had live music which was fun. This place deserves 10 stars. We were returning to Indiana from our vacation to Seattle and Portland. We read the reviews and were impressed. The experience was better than our high expectations. Beers were fresh and local. We split the Kale Salad. It was outstanding, fresh, light, and had a lot of flavor. Wife had mac-n-cheese. I had the pineapple burger with "dirty fries". One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Service was top notch. Outdoor seating was pleasant and full of character. Loved everything! read more

Excellent. We really enjoy a lot of the small craft brewer gastropubs, and Side A did not disappoint. I had the Side A Scottish style red, it was a medium body, a bit on the dark side, it was smooth, not too hoppy...delicious. My husband had the Diablo Rojo and it too was very good. I am usually a dark / stout beer drinker. For dinner my husband had the bratwurst with home fries and I had the burger with spicy peanut butter and bacon. Both dishes had great flavor and the burger was one of the best I've had in a very long time. We'll definitely return whenever we happen to be in town again. Great atmosphere too. read more

Oh my gosh was this amazing!! I was looking at places to grab a bite while traveling along I-84 and I stumbled across all the fabulous reviews. I pulled up a little confused as the entrance was a generic door that I could of easily mixed up for something else with their fire logo above the door. I would highly recommend to make the exterior look a little-more restaurant like with a sign that actually says the name and not just the logo. Walked inside and it was a nice, clean, quaint space. Hosts were helpful and friendly. I wasn't a big fan of the servers rolling silverware at the host stand but that's not a big deal. The food was absolutely mouth-watering. I ordered the Glazed Pork Belly Sandwich with a Kale, Caesar salad. The sandwich was on fresh bread with pork, some sort of slaw and aioli. The pork was unbelievably tender. The salad was amazing, perfect amount of dressing with a nice crunch (bacon pieces). The food here truly blew me away. Wish I could give 6 stars!! read more

Met friends for lunch. I found it kind of odd that the hostess was seated behind the front desk and remained seated as I came in. She wasn't unfriendly but certainly could have greeted me with some enthusiasm. It was my first time there. I also found it odd that the waiter put his hand on my shoulder as he came up behind me to deliver my water. I would reserve that kind of touch for someone you know, please. I had no idea this place existed, and man was I missing out! I had the lamb burger with an order of dirty fries, and I couldn't find a single thing to be upset about. This is hands down my new favorite restaurant in La Grande, and if you've never tried it or are on the fence about going, try it. I'm positive you won't be disappointed. The price range isn't horrible, but expect to pay a bit of money at this establishment. A lamb burger will run you $13 and an order of dirty fries will run you $6, but the food here is worth every penny. read more

Beer is pretty good. Food was okay, but nothing to brag about. The atmosphere was nice. It is a nice little brewery for the area.

We have tried this restaurant twice. The first time it was slow getting our food. This time it was excruciatingly slow. They were obviously trying not to overwhelm the kitchen because we had to wait 20 minutes to get in (although there were many empty tables). Our server was nice and trying but the hang up had to be the kitchen. We waited ONE HOUR for our food and then the fries were cold. The burgers are good but I'm not going back. When we got it, the dirty fries were cold...our server got us hot fries, but they're still not worth the up charge. The burger, grilled cheese, and soup would have been good had they been served hot. Wow this place has La Grande on lockdown. When there is 50 people here and empty restaurants in town that should tell you something. Excellent burgers, elevated simple foods and top it off with good beer the place is a win. Transplant this place to Portland and it would hold its own. Others should take note. read more
