    SAFETY ROUND
    Daniel C.

Side hustle has to be one of my favorite local breweries. They have a constant rotation of incredible beers. I love always trying new styles they come out with. They have live music, food trucks and a super friendly staff. They even have a really amazing non alcoholic hop water called safety round for those friends who don't drink. I think they said something like they are third best brewery in Lodi but they are number one in my book! If you haven't checked them out you need to ASAP you will not be disappointed.

While I'm not there every Friday like a "former" customer, this brewery has been a place for my family to enjoy a brew, some pizza and good vibes over the years. It supports my cousins business every Friday (check out Pizza Party 209) and other local businesses and artists. They have a great variety of beers that we love to try out. They have the most attentive staff and to no one's surprise, they welcome everyone in with a smile. This is the kind of atmosphere Lodi and the Central Valley have needed and we're happy to continue celebrating it!

Price for the flights and singles are definitely worth it. They had live music and there are some games you can grab to play. Good for small groups or solo. They happened to have a pop up for a bbq place there but I think they rotate pop ups of people with food. Either way would come back good vibes

We stumbled onto this place looking for a dog friendly brewery and we were soooooo happy!! The wine I had was delicious, and my hubby enjoyed the Hustle Juice and Trophy Wife beets. We look forward to coming again! ( and so does our doggie).

Deep breath...sigh...Sooo...many years ago I got into it just a little bit with Rick (Riaza tasting room downtown.) Ended up crossing them off our list. A couple weeks ago I discovered Side Hustle Brew was in existence. Since I am not looking for a new best friend and being a beer kind of person, I decided to give them a go anyway...just looking for some good suds...Great-Great decision. First off they are making some really good beers. We went through several taster glasses and a few pints. The awesome lady running the place is great. Friendly, professional, knowledgeable and gave us a couple sips so we could get oriented. Things I liked...the beer, the glasses, the logo (okay, I am a nerd graphics guy), the vibe and the friendly peeps we met who were also enjoying a pint or two. The tasters at $2 are an incredible go...for $10 you get a good taste of five brews. Great experience. No food but they do rotate food trucks on prem and allow you to bring food in. Thumbs up! Nice outdoor space when weather permits. They have made it to my top two list here in Lodi. Gave me a menu which I hung from the activity board in our short term rental property. Only possible negative was the indoor space is a bit noisy but hey, it's a party place...right. Nice bar, tables and high-tops to choose from and get comfortable. Interesting little table games to keep you occupied as well. We liked it so much we came back...with a friend in tow. Beers are made in small batches so if you like variety/new beers and fresh beer, Side Hustle is your place. They have a membership club where you get some benni's including ability to purchase a special brew. Currently Snort & Rally which is almost worth joining the club for. Since they are part of/partnered with Riaza Wines, your group can enjoy both beer and wine at the same table. Grab a taco from out back and y'all are good to go. They are a little hard to spot as you head to Costco, but worth slowing down and looking for. As for my issue with Rick, I don't remember all the details, doubt if he does either and only a real loser-moron would hold a grudge for 20 years...So Cheers Rick! Best to you and your team...See you again!

We had a great visit to Side Hustle Brewery for Father's Day! FYI, they are kid friendly! We got there right @1 when they opened. When you park in the parking lot, it looks like you're in the qwrong place, but you're not! There is a side gate to access the property. The inside area is open with a lot of seating, and their outside area is nice. There is a covered portion and uncovered. They didn't have a food truck this day, so we brought in snacks which was awesome! They offer beer by the glass or you can do a flight of beer tasters. They also have wine flights or by the glass/bottle. They service was great, and I wish we had gotten the nice employees name but she was super helpful and knew all about the beers and wine she was serving.

I love going to Side Hustle, they brew the best beer in town, great local music, rotating food trucks everyday, and easily the most welcoming, inclusive, and respectful vibes, and a super chill atmosphere. They also give back to the community by supporting local fundraisers. The staff genuinely treats everyone like long time friends. The fact that they put real effort into being inclusive and community minded just makes me appreciate them even more. I'll keep supporting places like this because it's clear they care not just about making great beer, but about creating a space where everyone feels comfortable and valued. Cheers!

Get the flight, leave with a growler, get a bottle of red wine, and you'll be happy! One of the more inclusive places to imbibe and retrieve tasty snacks from a nearby taco truck or guest vendor :)

Go for the beer. You can find better wine elsewhere in Lodi, though it is nice they have that choice for non-beer drinkers in your group.

Ironically, we had just been talking about how great it would be if they offered a brunch menu, so it felt like perfect timing! We decided to give it a try and were seated right away. Our waitress was incredibly sweet and welcoming, which made for a great start to the meal. We couldn't decide what to order, so we ended up getting three dishes for the two of us--the fajita omelet, the Denver omelet, and the biscuits and gravy. We also ordered a spicy Bloody Mary, which was delicious. The standout? The biscuits and gravy. The first bite had my husband blurting out, "Oh f***... this is good!" Honestly, that pretty much summed it up. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. If you're looking for a great brunch spot in Lodi, this is definitely worth checking out. We'll absolutely be back!

We were seated quickly and served waters right away. My husband ordered the fish and chips, while I went with the jalapeño chicken sandwich. The sandwich came with a grilled chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, pepper jack cheese, crispy fried onions, and jalapeño dressing on grilled ciabatta bread. I also upgraded my fries to their Bleu fries (topped with bleu cheese crumbles and bleu cheese dressing). The fries were definitely a highlight--served hot, crispy, and perfectly paired with the bleu cheese. My husband was really impressed with the fish and chips, which he hadn't tried here before. The fish was beer-battered and fried, served with fries and coleslaw. He especially liked the coleslaw, noting that it tasted fresh with great flavor and wasn't overly coated in mayo. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and the experience. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

Wednesdays at 6:30, every two weeks. Four categories, ten questions per category. Grade another team's paper like school. We killed the blue movies category last week. Trivia master is def a movie guy. I would come back for this trivia format, yes. This was also a good spot to watch the niner game a few weeks back. Back when we were winning. Sigh. For a big place that was maybe 40% occupied, it was soooooooooooooooooo slow. One server from what I see, 2 bussers, and 5 others standing around chatting. Took a good 30 mins to get seated (there was tables available), though we got to go to their tasting room, and got a bottle of wine; another 20 mins to get the server's attention after getting seated and probably another 40 for the food to come. That was probably the most irritating.

Now was a good as time as any! As we entered, there was a sign to meet at the bar for seating. The waitress/server came out after a bit of a wait and according to my friend, it's usually a longer wait time around lunch for someone to come out and seat you. I was recommended to try the pork schnitzel by my friend and it did not disappoint. I got my sandwich with a side salad. We also ordered the deviled eggs to share. My friend has never had the deviled eggs before and pleasantly surprised and delighted that the eggs were absolutely delicious. They're very smooth, eggs were cooked perfectly and the touch of bacon was just right. It does come with a small helping of mixed greens topped with pickled onions. The pork schnitzel was crispy & crunchy due to the breaded pork loin, came with pickled onions, slaw and the chipotle aioli sauce. The sauce does have a bit of a kick to it but it wasn't too spicy, well, at least for me. My salad was very good too. It was colorful and had an interestingly tangy dressing on it. It paired well with the sandwich. One was spicy and the salad was tangy but refreshing. My friend also ordered the pork schnitzel with beef tallow fries. I tried some of her fries and they were thin but still crispy. Overall the food at West Oak Nosh was so good and delicious! Service was good, prompt and our server was attentive despite being by herself. I think this place is great for the summer to have a drink and eat. Will have to come back for the drinks!

We made a brunch reservation for 11:30am, though we ended up ordering off the regular menu rather than brunch. That was the first odd note of the afternoon. Before the appetizers, they brought out focaccia with herbed butter, a nice alternative to the standard bread basket. The calamari appetizer with marinara and tartar sauce was fine, nothing memorable. My mom's eggplant parmesan arrived warm but not hot and cooled down quickly. The pizzas, a Funghi and a Margherita, were cooked well in the stone oven and were genuinely the best thing on the table, but they arrived warm and cooled down quickly, the same issue as my mom's eggplant parmesan. With the air conditioning blowing directly overhead, hot food didn't really stand a chance. The service is where things unraveled. When we were first seated, the manager came by and helped with my dad's walker, which was a nice touch. After that it went downhill. When my dad asked for something light, the waiter recommended the carbonara, a dish built on guanciale, grana, egg, and black pepper. That's not light by any definition. It's a basic gap in menu knowledge that does the guest a disservice. The menu also had salmon, ricotta toast, and eggs in purgatory. My dad also asked for red pepper flakes to go with his pizza and they took unusually long to arrive, so he had to flag down a different waiter to get them. The waiter noticed I was drinking my Bloody Mary slowly and offered a different version that actually tasted better. If there's a preferred version, lead with it. When I made eye contact to signal we were ready to pay, he acknowledged it but continued socializing with a coworker before finally coming over and taking my card, as if he was surprised we wanted to pay. When a customer is ready, they're ready. He took my card, asked if we wanted dessert, went to grab the dessert menu, then handed it back. Just hold onto the card. I'm paying with the same card regardless. Handing it back makes no sense. The restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious, with a full bar, outdoor seating, a small store at the entrance, and a vegetable garden out front. It's a great setting. Dinner service might be a different experience, but on this visit the dining room wasn't particularly full, which made it more noticeable that the staff prioritized socializing over the guests in front of them. For the record, the suggested tip on the receipt started at 18%. On the way out, two hostesses stood by and did nothing while my parents, one of whom was on a walker, made their way to the door on their own. Getting the door is common courtesy for the elderly. Pietro's has the ingredients of a great restaurant. The space is beautiful, the stone oven pizza is genuinely good, and the brunch menu has real potential. But a restaurant is only as good as its execution, and right now the service and the food temperatures are letting the kitchen down. They just need to meet it.
