The place was dead, but they seemed like they were in the weeds and stressed. The bartender was pleasant and made a solid margarita! The food, yikes. We ordered the flautas and they took about 45 minutes to come out burned to a crisp. A carne asada taco took over 30 minutes to come out cold. Had tried to come here the day before (Monday) but it was closed when it should have been open, or at least was listed as open. Came back by again on Tuesday for Taco Tuesday. We walked in. There were several people with food and drinks and several places where tables had not been bussed. We were not greeted but made our way to some seats that didn't have empty dishes or glasses. The floor was super sticky. After waiting 10 minutes without being acknowledged, I wanted to leave--but we stayed. I walked over to the bar to look at the menu. A few minutes or so later the waitress asked me and another person if we were trying to order. We said yes. Although I had been there first, she took the other person's order first. They were out of some of the meats for the tacos as well as out of a few beers. It took about 25 minutes to get our beers and finally got our full order after nearly an hour--which was just four tacos and two beers. The one waitress was by herself on a Taco Tuesday that fell on Cinco de Mayo. Another waitress had finally come in at one point, but by then most of the patrons had left and things were starting to slow down. While we were waiting we saw several people come in and walk back out after peeping the scene. Orders were being brought out wrong. Just really disorganized and a lot for one person (with another one finally coming on shift). While the tacos were good--they were not all delivered to the table at the same time. They were a good size and plated well, but we were never offered hot sauce or napkins. They had some local distributors in the house with some swag girls doing a beer/FIFA event, but you could tell that wasn't really going as well as they had anticipated and had minimal participation from patrons. The staff did not seem to really be supportive of the event and seemed to have attitudes. The event is probably what redeemed our visit though. The distributor employees and swag girls were very friendly and made up for the not so great service from the actual waitress(es). Maybe they would have had better attitudes under better circumstances, but who knows. Would be willing to give them another try sometime--and hopefully service would be better...but might be a while. read more

Went in on taco Tuesday expecting it to be somewhat busy (it wasn't). We were greeted by a waitress who said she'd buss our table. She took the glassware and never came back. We went to the bar as it seemed the two people there were getting some traction. Only to have to wait another 15 minutes to even be acknowledged. When we finally were, it took another 15 to get our drinks. The waitress was also the bartender, and the only front of house staff there and she was clearly annoyed over it (I'm sure I would be too). The tacos were okay but the drinks were abysmal. I've never had a drink taste that sweet in my life, it tasted like I was drinking straight simple syrup. Gave her the benefit of the doubt and ordered a captain coke and it still tasted like warm syrup, their soda machine gun may be broken. Felt bad for the bartender as it was just her in there but at the same time, it felt like she had given up and was moving at turtle speed on purpose. Will not be going back. read more

The food here is stellar! However, they hardly ever open. They do not know how to run a business. Unfortunately, I don't think they will last very long. They don't have a phone number listed anywhere, so I went there to ask if they had one to order ahead of time. They were not open at 10AM (the listed time online they are supposed to open). I wave a guy down through the window and he comes to tell me they are not ready to open, they will open in about an hour. So, I go back and the guy says, phone number is listed online, so I proceeded to show him it is not listed. He gives me a phone number, so I go back to work and when it's time to order, I call the phone number and no one answers. So, I go there to order and ask if they can have it ready within 20 minutes so I can get back to work, and she replies, "we can try". Mentioned to her that no one answered the phone, and she says, "oh yeah because I put it on do not disturb"! I mean, it really seems they just don't want any business. Makes zero sense to make it so hard for people to order their food. The tacos really are great, though, I'm thinking I'm going to give up on this place. I don't have time to deal with any of this. We recently stopped by to grab some food while in the area. We did take out- the restaurant isn't really set up for take out as there was no phone number or way to order ahead which was a little annoying as we had to wait about 15-20 mins after ordering. It would be nice if they added a way to order ahead. The place did look clean and is surprisingly big, I would definitely come back to watch sports as there were tvs everywhere. The service was okay, nothing special. I was pleasantly surprised by the food- we had the asada tacos and the torta. The torta bread was slightly stale but otherwise it was all delicious. My main complaint is they were out of chicken and chorizo on a weekend which was a little disappointing. Otherwise, I was happy with this place and will try it again to watch a game! read more

We stopped by Side Hustle while adventuring in downtown Portland and we were not disappointed. We shared a basket of loaded fries and they were absolutely delicious! Emily who was tending the bar and serving customers was wonderful and accommodating. When we're in Portland, we'll be back. read more

So I placed an order for the birrieria ramen bowl for 17.99, two of their queso tacos each are$5.75 and a virgin margarita . Who knows what the bartender was charging me for that. My total came out to $44 something then s h e expected a tip. I was like lady don't try to rip me off. This place is a joke. read more

The food is BOMBB i highly recommend the hustle bowl or their chicken tacos. they have taco Tuesday for $2 tacos that are stuffed and filling. They also have $1 wing Wednesday the owner recommended raspberry chipotle and it didnt disappoint! she also made the best lemon drop ive ever had and thats no over exaggeration. Super cute vibes cant wait to come back for the night life. I saw on instagram their nightlife gets pretty busy and they have been having Damien Lillard there. read more

A friend and I tried this place on a whim and was deeply disappointed! We now know why this place is called "side hustle" because we were definitely hustled lol. Although, I don't typically mind paying for shots and food but 2 shots for $67 and shitty service in Portland..... , I would expect this in Vegas or any other MAJOR city but not here. Lady at the bar said 2 words to us and when asked some questions she sighed and asked for our ids, lots of eye rolls and attitude. Terrible service!!!! We aren't penny pinchers either and left a pretty good tip but the service was terrible and the pricing was outrageous!! Def will not be coming back. This place is cheaply decorated and would've had a lot of potential! -1/10 read more

So I never do reviews but this time I feel like it is necessary. Let's start with the positive. Our bartender/waitress/food runner/table buser (one woman show) was sweet, kind, and helpful. She was overloaded and running out of things to no fault of her own while maintained a good attitude and being kind and apologetic the whole time. So she got a great tip regardless. The food was great too. However, for a business to have one employee doing all that alone, busy or not is abuse and wrong, coming from someone who worked in the industry for years. I would never work for someone who did that to me. Let's continue to the worst. Because it was one woman doing it all alone, it took 30-40 mins to get a drink and food once the rest of my group showed up (6 adults and two infants under 6 months) with 5-6 other people there outside of my group. Two of us showing up at 330ish and the other's at 430ish. Once everyone finally had food and drinks by 530ish (yes around an hour later) we were told no kids allowed anytime or anywhere in the establishment. The sweet bartender who had only worked there a few weeks had to tell us she didn't know but was just told no kids when her shift change came in to relieve her. We said no problem not your fault. Mind you, we all just finally got our food and drinks. So we all had to chug our drinks and box up our food and leave. The shift change bartender had a stank attitude and was rude as hell when we ask for to go boxes and food to go for our spouses since a few of us where leaving even before being told we had to leave cause of the babies which at this point were sleeping and hasn't made a sound the whole time. Nowhere outside did it say no minors except one digital sign in small print outside said 21+. Online forums like yelp and AI generators reported Side Hustle in Portland Oregon as kid friendly during the day. Even one yelp review saying the server was great to their kid, so go figure. Our babies didn't even cry the whole time. I know rules are rule, but at least publicize outside and online no kids. They just lost a lot of local business from our office that works less than 5 blocks away and always on the lookout for happy hour spots that are kid friendly or otherwise as long as its clear. We can leave the kids at daycare! Such a weird experience! My coworkers even said after some of us left they were let back in with the kids. An awesome new place in downtown Portland you need to check out! Came upon this place as some friends and I walked downtown early in a Saturday night. Incredible atmosphere with lots of sports on the screens. Feels like some vegas spots I've been to. We weren't able to stay but sounds like this place turns into a killer night club with djs and live music. This place needs to be on your list! They just opened and still getting everything set up they way they want but man, it's going to be awesome! Go check them out! read more
