    Fried Brussels Sprouts
    Dian K.

Decided to check out their happy hour (til 6pm). For HH, they have $1 off beers & house cocktails and a handful of food items. You order from the bar and they'll deliver the food to your table. Lots of choices to sit: indoor which is air conditioned and there are tons of outdoor tables outside. The front, the side (smoking area) and the back covered patio with overhead fans or heater and a fire pit. I'm not sure if the back patio is smoking or not, I thought it wasn't (since I didn't see ashtrays like I do for the puddle tables on the side), but I saw people smoking at the fire pit area which was wafting into my table - the only downside sitting here. We decided to try the fried Brussels sprouts and poutine. The Brussels sprouts were yummy because of the bed of sauce it sits on. The "fries" for the poutine are big and spiral - don't see these kind of fries often - it's like if jojos and curly fries had children. When they're fresh, it's crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside - I'm a fan. The poutine treatment is just ok - some gravy with bacon bits and some kind of cheese that could be more meaty. If you don't eat it fast, the fries get soggy because of the gravy. So I think next time I'll just get their regular fries.

I came on a Tuesday evening and it had a lively vibe. I met up with friends before an event we were planning on attending. Street parking, but I lucked out with one around the corner. My friends had snagged seating on the back patio. I went inside to figure out what I wanted to order. I was going to order hummus plate, but they were out. So I asked the bartender what they had that was vegan foodwise, he recommended the brussel sprouts. I got that. It was good. Later I looked at the menu and it was listed as vegetarian. So I am not sure if there was dairy or not. There didn't seem to be much in vegan offerings.

Atmosphere: Good outdoor patio in front and back with fire pits and ample seating. Food: Haven't tried too much here but the Mac and Cheese is delicious Price: Prices are pretty reasonable for the most part Service: Walk up to bar for service. Mostly form a line so just kind of goes as is. Service is fine. Parking: Street parking

Thus Mississippi institution is still rocking the jams. Great drinks, find and ambiance. The bar us in a giant old Craftsman style house. Super friendly staff. Can't go wrong here.

Ordered the rambler burger for pick up for $18 which comes with bacon lettuce tomato cheese and sauce. Just checked my order got a completely raw in the middle patty (juice still bloody) no bacon no lettuce and a bunch of onions.

What a frikin great bar. The bar tender here is the real deal. Knows her shit cold. And to top it off? It's a self vowed Eagles bar.. the cocktails are off the hook good. Original and expertly crafted. Return visit warranted.

Great little spot off of Mississippi that has some fun drinks and tasty appetizer menu. We were waiting to meet someone and stopped here to kill some time. We got the Brussels sprouts and some good old hot wings

This is a friendly bar to stop by while on Mississippi Ave. The back is covered and they have heat lamps. The drinks are good and their fries are very tasty.

We got the nachos, poutine, and a couple of drinks. The staff and location were pretty cool. Star Wars and other weird art on the wall. Chill social bar vibe. The nachos were decent but not spectacular. The poutine was too salty and didn't have cheese curds. They used a light shredded cheese that didn't hand any impact on the flavor. But the potatoes were fire. I would recommend just getting their toranado fries because they slapped.

Really solid burger and fries at this place. Super expensive, but still solid. Not much for seating if the weather isn't great, but the fire tables help. Didn't love their old fashioned, but will switch it up for a different cocktail next time. Overall solid place any time we drop in.

Great service! Went on a Friday night with a group of about 6. It was easy to find seating inside, music wasn't too loud and we enjoyed our time there. We enjoyed their $2.50 Jell-O shots! We ordered Brussels spouts, burgers, and fish tacos. I really enjoyed the brussel sprouts with little raisins and a sweet(ish) creamy sauce that paired well with the vinaigrette seasoning and was a little different than your run of the mill fried brussel sprout appetizer. Other than that we enjoyed the service staff being accommodating and friendly. I would go back and feel comfortable with a group there.

Between the service, food, drinks and live entertainment, this is my favorite spot in Portland. I feel welcome every time I come to town. Solid people, and highly recommended to start or finish your evening.

My family and I visited The Rambler to watch the Philadelphia Eagles Game and it was great. My parents enjoyed their drinks and the food was very good. The outdoor area in the back was nice. Parking was a bit difficult to find in the area. The food that we got was Tornado Potatoes, a quesadilla, and two orders of fish tacos. Tornado potato's were seasoned well and very tasty. The fish tacos were delicious. The tortillas and fish that they used were good. The quesadilla was even better. The service was good as well. I'll be revisiting this restaurant soon.

The restaurant is small and intimate, so I'd definitely keep that in mind for larger groups. We had seven people, and that felt like the perfect size. Everything we ordered was gorgeous and whimsical in presentation, but of course that would mean little without the flavors to back it all up, which it had in spades. The Thai steak tartare tostadas were incredibly balanced, with brightness and herbaceous notes from the vegetables, herbs, and sauce, great punch from the Thai spices, richness from the tartare, and a nice snap and slight nuttiness from the tapioca crisps cradling everything underneath. The foie gras dumplings were simply divine. I expected them to be rich and dense, but they were like little pillows, with a savory filling and a perfect balance of smoked leek broth, crispy fried leeks, and a caramelized shallot jam that ended up being the surprise star of the dish for me. Then came the main event, the Duck Stack, which I can only describe as a McGriddle on steroids (in the best possible way!). Somehow it all worked beautifully, with the rich duck gravy, fluffy pancakes drenched in syrup, spiced onions, and a fried duck egg tying everything together in perfect harmony. It was one of those dishes that sounds wild on paper but is totally brilliant on the plate and in your mouth. Really fantastic meal from start to finish, and I'm already excited to come back to try more of the menu (and the happy hour!) on a future visit.

So we went to town on ordering a few things: Half a dozen of oysters-super fresh, small and briny served on salt plate. They included a house made hot sauce that tasted super fruity. Scale of 1 out of 10. Foie gras torchon -classic flavors. Strawberry, rhubard, balsamic. Foie Served on toasted challah and we opted for the black truffle. This dish was a total disappointment tho. The foie is not buttery and the truffle tasted thin and had 0 flavor. I think we would've been happier with a dozen oysters. Iberico pork for 2. This was enough for 3 of us. The majo sausage and spatzel were excellent as was the pork. Think of thick cut pork chop and it tasted just like it. We had one piece dryer than the other but they were cooked closer to medium. This was the best dish of the night. At $79 I would certainly hope so. We ended the night with some house ice cream and the again, these guys understand classic flavors. Service here was terrific. On our first visit we had a reservation and were seated at a table. After ordering, patrons are served a complimentary leek soup in an espresso size cup. I wish it were on the menu because it is one of the best things I've ever tasted. The flavor is incredibly rich! We ordered the clam chowder, halibut, maple glazed carrots and tres leches cake. The clam chowder's presentation was nicely done but nothing special in taste. It came so highly recommended on Reddit and many other diners ordered it but neither my party nor I cared for it. The halibut was good but didn't stand out and the maple glazed carrots weren't to my taste. What completely won us over was the tres leches cake. It is one of the most delicious and most memorable desserts we've ever had. Every layer complemented the next perfectly creating an incredibly balanced dessert that wasn't overly sweet with different textures. We couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It was one of the reasons we decided to give the restaurant a second shot. After our meal I mentioned to our server that we weren't sure if we'd ordered the right dishes since we weren't thrilled with the food especially with how popular the restaurant is. He explained that it's primarily an Argentinian steakhouse and suggested returning to try the meat dishes. On our second visit we arrived at opening without a reservation. There was plenty of seating but since we didn't have a reservation we were seated at the bar. I didn't mind seated at the bar but the bar stools were extremely uncomfortable, almost torturous. Unfortunately, it was too hot to sit outside. Midway through dinner a machine, maybe a dishwasher, was turned on behind the bar. It was loud and the vibrations could be felt. This time we ordered the beet salad, cheese empanada, beef empanada, two filet mignons and the lamb shoulder. The beet salad was a disappointment. It consisted of large overly soft chunks of beets with what tasted like a basic grocery store salad dressing. For a restaurant of this caliber I expected more. Neither of us enjoyed the cheese empanada but we both liked the beef empanada. We also ordered two filet mignons cooked the same way. Both arrived more done than requested and one way more overcooked than the other. They were also on the salty side, though both were very tender. The lamb shoulder, which our server had already warned us about before we ordered, ended up being dry and tough. The chimichurri served alongside the savory dishes was also heavier on onions than I prefer. Overall, the service was excellent, and the complimentary leek soup and tres leches cake were truly outstanding. Unfortunately, despite two visits, the main dishes we ordered didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation for us.
