I can not say enough good things about my experience at Sides. I spoke to Mike on the phone about some repairs I needed it, and it was very clear that I didn't know what I was talking about. I brought in my car and had zero wait to drop off my car and Mike explained everything in a way that I could understand. A few hours later, he called to let me know that I didn't need as many repairs as I thought I needed. It would have been very easy to overcharge me and make unnecessary repairs, and I'm so grateful for the kindness and professionalism from this shop. As a woman, especially a pregnant woman at that, it is hard to find a mechanic that won't try to take advantage. My car was having trouble starting for a couple weeks now, my friends referred me to Sides. I was told "this is the only mechanic my husband lets me go to alone." I went in on Monday and he was honest that he was understaffed and couldn't fit me in until Thursday. Where other mechanics I contacted wanted to just keep my car for an undisclosed amount of time and not let me know anything else. My car gave up Thursday morning and I had to tow it to the place. Michael at Sides was so kind, and honest with me. I brought it in for a diagnostic. He told me EXACTLY what he was going to do, what he was going to look at, what he would be able to do today and gave me a small estimate. Then told me he would give me a call of what the problem was and how much it would be to fix that. I dropped the car off in the morning and by lunch time I got a call of what was wrong and how much it would be to fix it. I gave him the okay, he fixed it and I was able to pick it up by the time I got off work. Then he informed me of the warranty he gave on parts and labor. The charges were fair, and he was open and honest about exactly what he charged me for. My Honda Civic is back to working the way it should. I would take my car here again in the future! read more

Mike and Company were able to diagnose and figure out a back door repair that worked great. My van had a problem with the vacuum reservoir, which is unfortunatly located under the dashboard. It meant that all air systems; A/C, Heat, and vent would cut out everytime I would give the van gas, like on a hill and stay that way until I would let off on the gas pedel. Very uncomfortable on a hot day climbing a large hill. Anyway, they fixed it without having to tear apart the dash and it works great! read more

Very disappointed. Took sons car in and because I didn't completely state everything , as a mother would think is wrong or my son, the diagnostic fee wasn't applied. It was their fault they didn't completely check other areas of possibilities. They overpriced the job without applying the second diagnostic which was just bad costumer service. It cost time having to bring the car back and then a third time because the belt wasn't tightened and made a loud shrill sound. I felt like a number and no real concern for satisfaction. I had a issue with the rear brakes on my 2007 Honda Accord. I contacted Mike at Sides and described the problem. He suggested I swing by and drop the vehicle off which I did. He had a idea what the problem was and quoted me a price. He said he had several appointments ahead of me but will try his best to get the repairs done before he closed. I was very surprised to get a phone call much earlier in the afternoon that my car was ready. I ended up getting new Rotors and pads plus he repaired the calipers. You judge for you self. I went to sides because it was in the area in spite of the fact that a lady i knew told me Mike estimated hundreds on a repair that later was completed for less then $100 at another place. Mike then put refrigerant in my truck and it was great. But a month or so later my turn switch began to malfunction so i took to mike to fix. First trip the truck was given to me at a cost of over $250 with in a day i realized it was not working properly in fact was worse then i originally brought it in for. so i brought it back . This time it cost me over $325 claiming the female end that the switch plugs into was bad. Within a couple of days it became obvious to me the switch was sticking periodically when turning left so i called not wanting to pay more and informed mike of the problem, but that i would give it time to see if it was just stiff. IT STILL STICKS !!! then i bought my kid a little ford focus, i became aware that the AC was not working very well and took it to mike. He then put refrig. into it and according to him did some diagnostics and gave car back indicating it was fixed at a price of about $250. None of that even altered the problem i took the car into his shop for .. So i called and Barbara said bring it back. So of course i did ,and i was called indicating the car was fixed when i get there i'm being not charged another $350. 2 days later i find that the car is doing the same exact thing so i call back and of course Barbara say the standard thing bring it back. I tell her i have no more money for experiments. so i take my car to the dealer. They inform me that none of the things Mike did had anything to do with my AC situation . My problem was all along was compressor and actuator. So i got the part numbers hoping since i had done all this business with Mike i could shave off some of the cost being he should be little less then dealer. Now mind you i never got the chance to discuss any price with mike or anything else other than i said hey mike the dealer said its the compressor and actuator before he interrupted and said i ain't got time for this and hug up the phone. Finally you might think maybe i was rude or something but i was not close to that i am a jovial retired warrant officer wounded in vietnam 100% disabled vet. i would have thought i would have just received better then that from my fellow American maybe i was wrong. thx for taking the time to read about my experience. So disappointed with how our experience at Sides changed. We've been taking both our cars here for the last year because we had heard good things about this family owned business. Mike had even recognized my husband's Military Service with a small discount. However a few months ago our Jeep had a check engine light appear. We were told it was a thermostat/housing unit at the price of $800+. Seemed unusually high but we had no reason to question Mike. Six weeks later the Jeep overheated while driving in L.A. The car was towed to Sides since we assumed it was a faulty thermostat, only to find out it was a different fix of a hose/connector $300+. A week later the same issue, overheating while driving on the FastTrak (thank goodness no one was hurt!) Towed it in AGAIN to be told the connector was a manufacturer problem so it was removed and the hose was connected directly. (???) No charge. Three weeks later the exact same overheating so we had it towed yet again. This time we're told the "engine is blown and we shouldn't have driven it" ...when we only drove it to the point of parking it. We have literally had it towed 7 times in the last few months for the same problem. After many questions and heated arguments, Mike took no responsibility for sending us out with a "band aid" on our car and never fixed, or found the actual problem....AGAIN, after numerous tows and nearly $1500. A lot of "it didn't show up on our test" and "it's a different problem now" excuses from Sides. No doubt the damage escalated because the actual problem was not addressed nor fixed, driving it only after we were told the problem had been repaired. Not only are we beyond angry that our 2016 Jeep is now trash, we are terribly disappointed because we trusted this family business to do the right thing when they are clearly untrustworthy. read more

So disappointed with Mike and Brenda who present an honest and sincere appraisal of car repairs but neglect emergencies and are over priced by at least 40% which is a disappointment for a local business in Menifee. I have been going to Sides Auto Repair for several years. When I had an emergency tire and battery replacement, I chucked it off to miles although I service my vehicle regularly (3-6k miles). Then my A/C went out. I was charged an $150 service fee (non-refundable) and given a $2000 estimate for a new compressor and condenser (I was told the A/C shattered). I usually have them check for brakes and shocks which I was told were okay. The brakes were supposed to be okay for a few oil changes. So, I brought a mechanic friend with me to a major retailer. Brakes were needed and thru the drums; shocks were leaking; a/c only needed a compressor; got a discount on the oil change; coupons will apply; also, can order parts much cheaper. SO, disappointed with Mike and Brenda ripping people off to build their new Temecula home customized. Business is taking care of local people and not ripping them off - also, taking care of preventive care. SHAME ON YOU. Get a new mechanic, and shape up. WILL NEVER use this shop again! read more

Nothing but a good experience here. My wife went in to have her brake pads looked at and was told the pads were fine. (Never have I been to a auto repair place and was told I don't need something done). I took my mother to have her car looked at, it was misfiring and not running well. Previously she took it to VW and was told the repairs would be over $1200. Took it to Sides and the car just needed a new spark plug and minor wiring repair. The owners have ALWAYS shot straight with me. Doesn't matter if it's what you want to hear or what you don't want to hear, they always say exactly what needs to be done to get the job done right. Because if it, they have kept my 2002 old trailblazer running as my dependable family car. They helped me get my old classic heap of junk on the road. They repaired a PT cruiser several times, then also let me know when it was time to stop investing into it and move on- something most mechanics wouldn't do because it would mean cutting their income - instead after a couple different repairs I asked... should I move on and they recommended did and I got my wife a Sonata and leased it and it saved me hassle. I've brought 3 different cars of mine here... and had repairs done of all different kinds, and every time my cars became dependable again because of not allowing me to cut any corners and instead shooting straight with me. Didn't matter if it was a cheap repair - they kept it honest and was cheap no lies or add on repairs not necessary... or if it was a not cheap repair they said everything I needed to do to make the repair last instead of half-doing it poorly like I would have opted to. This means they have the customers best interest at heart regardless. That's rare. That's old school. And that's exactly how I like my values in my mechanics. So 5 stars. I didn't have just one experience here.... I've been many many times. Even when I was very ill they were considerate and drove me home on a hot day. These people care, and that nowadays is rare. So go in confident - know you'll be treated with honesty. It may or may not be what you want to hear, but in my many experiences there it's always been 100% in my best interest. read more

I first took my families 4 cars to them because I read a review about how honest they were. Honesty is hard to find in the auto world. My 2001 PT Cruiser began to run rough I took it to Sides and told them that I needed a tune up, my car was due. I'm pretty good with cars, just don't have the time. Sides called and said it was my catalytic converter knowing it could be the problem I told them to go ahead; a short time after that about 800-1000 miles, my car began to misfire I easily drove it to Sides. they pulled a plug it had completely fouled. I told them to go head with the tune up. After a couple of days I called they said they had found more wrong and are looking into it. After a couple more days they called and said they needed me to come down. They told me that something had gotten into 2 of the cylinders (they had to say that because the blown cylinder was different from the fouled plug) and killed the motor it could not even be driven well only 1/2 mile and then failed completely. They tried to tell me that the object had been bouncing around in my head for some time even tried to make me believe that it wasn't from when they last worked on it 800 miles back but from when I worked on it 12,000 miles back when I replaced the water pump. Picture a park slide that is what the air intake dump into the head looks like, nothing would bounce around even 2 turns of the motor without going into the cylinder so they blew the motor and I am 100% sure of that. They chose money over HONOR, which is beyond me. I give HONOR up for nothing. The funny thing is that I am a firm believer that people make mistakes, I am about 90% sure that if they would have said we screwed up I would have told them that I would buy the motor if they install it. I am sorry for anyone that has taken their car there, I waited to write this long enough that my legal rights have expired. This not about the money for me and want nothing from them. I am just hoping this will help others and that they might see this and know they didn't pull the wool over anyone's eyes. read more
