Pastrami on rye with coleslaw and pickles.
    David A.

My first time at the Riverside Casino, I was looking around for a place to get a bite to eat for dinner. I wasn't super hungry so I thought a sandwich and some soup would do the trick. I stopped at the sidewalk Café. I ordered a pastrami on rye with the works, I selected coleslaw as my side. I also ordered a bowl of clam chowder. I hit the clam chowder first while sitting there in the café. It was delicious nice and creamy with several bits of clam. I decided to take the sandwich up to my room and wait a bit before I ate more. The sandwich was extremely delicious. I would certainly order a sandwich from there again. The coleslaw was quite good also a little on the creamy side the way I like it. The sidewalk Café is a nice little location in the middle of the casino, not too loud so you can carry on a conversation if you like.

Breakfast burrito from Riverside's Sidewalk Cafe

Lower your expectations to curb your disappointment. The "breakfast burrito" is a microwaved burrito served still in its packaging. No attempts to hide that fact were made. Didn't even put it on a small paper plate. Just a microwave burrito and a few napkins. The "New Jumbo Breakfast Croissant" was at least prepared. But the eggs are the premade heat up scrambled eggs that remind me of plain T-ration Army eggs. Overall it was a disappointment from the lack of taste and it would have been better to have been wrapped as it falls apart as soon as you pick it up. Fortunately they have Cholula hot sauce for the asking. Ask for coffee and you are handed a styrofoam cup to fill yourself only to find half of the coffee dispensers are empty and splatter when you find this out. Save yourself the disappointment and go next door to the Aquarius casino where they have a McDonalds. At least you know what you are getting there.

The Riverside Sidewalk Cafe was tingling my palate with joy. I had a half a pound chili cheese dog with the most amazing condiment selection I put mustard ketchup Mayo Bareilles Chalula sauce and pepper on it as that is my favorite as I used to eat that all the time at Las Vegas State Penitentiary with my commissary money with the fellas. One time I ate one and a half pounds of chili dogs and I felt okay and did not s*** in my pants. Remember if you have to use the restroom if only 100 ft away very convenient with many stalls. Outside of their amazing dogs they have fantastic dill pickles that people travel all over the world for. There's shrimp cocktail is soft and tender and only $5.99. They're ice cream selection is dreamy and they fill up a foam cup of to the top for under $5 for you. The carrot cake and German chocolate cake is breathtaking and you would think that Julia Child's baked it especially for you. They serve high Quality Meats at an affordable price that you could not imagine. A giant Jimmy Dean croissant breakfast sandwich that is filled with so much meat any carnivore would be satisfied. Homemade sandwiches made in front of you with freshly baked bread from the French bakery in Bullhead. If you're up at midnight and you can't sleep and you're a tweaker please stop by Riverside Sidewalk Cafe and pick up some fresh crispy Kreme donuts as they come in fresh at midnight. If Gordon Ramsay was broke he would probably show up at the sidewalk cafe for all the quality prices of the food as he's broke and the man can't get a shrimp cocktail for $6 so be grateful and don't give it a bad review. When I was prison I never had shrimp cocktail so I'm happy. Bon appetit

The baba ganoush was good but the beef kebab was dried and seasoning/flavor was weird.

The food is ok for the type of place that it is, but you better not be in a hurry..... the workers sure are not.

We had the chicken marsala over angel hair and a house salad. The chicken marsala was cooked just right with the mushrooms and marsala sauce coating the pasta just right. The NFL playoffs were going on so we sat in the bar and watched the game, but we could hear Frank Sinatra gently singing a Summers Rain in the main dining area. Christie our waitress was very attentive and helped us pick out our dish. We finished with a tiramisu and double espresso. did I mention the portions are very large an overall great dining experience and the next time we're in town will be paying them a visit.

Plus, on more than one occasion Diane and I had previously arrived here around 8:30 p.m. and were warmly greeted, seated, and enjoyed our ordered meals. But this Sunday night two days after Halloween, after we had crossed the Colorado River on the Don Laughlin Bridge and had driven for half an hour from our home in Laughlin, we arrived at 8:25 p.m. only to find the restaurant dark and locked, with nobody inside. Granted this was the first day of a time change in California and Nevada from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time. But this circumstance should have had no effect on Arizona, whose time zone remained the same as the day before. Disappointed, we went in search of another place to eat dinner, and after encountering the kitchen staff of China Panda in the restaurant's parking lot about to leave for home half an hour earlier than its posted closing hour, finally wound up at reliable Black Bear Diner. We were the only patrons seated in the entire capacious restaurant until a few other people walked inside about 15 minutes later This spooky night felt like Halloween, but the tricks and added hunger we experienced occurred just a bit later.

The only problem we encountered was that a window table was not ready for us until thirty minutes after the time of our reservation. But the river view was worth the wait! We began with a complimentary Bread Basket that included excellent lavosh, and a Shrimp Cocktail Supreme sporting five shrimps. This time the crustations were meaty and flavorful dipped in a two-tone sauce. We requested and received extra lavosh with no resistance. Next up for me was a good French Onion Soup Au Gratin with a large crouton laden with a mix of Parmesan and Swiss Cheeses. Then I tried the Steak Diane Soup that came with Diane's order. It was the best version of this soup that I have sampled to date. Tender chunks of beef dissolved in the mouth carried along by a sea of broth that tasted like Mushroom Gravy. A complex dinner salad followed, with Mixed Greens (no Iceberg Lettuce at all), Grape Tomatoes, Artichoke Hearts, Bleu Cheese Dressing and Bleu Cheese Crumbles. It was here over 25 years ago that I first tasted wonderful Bleu Cheese Crumbles in the same type of salad. After cleansing our palates with Lemon Sorbet, for mains I had lean Veal Piccata with Capers and Spaghetti slathered with a delectable Lemon Cream Sauce, while Diane enjoyed her usual order of Coquilles Saint Jacques. This time the included Scallops were very small but the Shrimps were very big, and portions were generous. For dessert we splurged on two orders of delicious Bananas Foster prepared tableside, and I had a Decaf Coffee. Richard, our server, did a wonderful job of flambeeing this treat, that by this time was accompanied by a few bursting fireworks that were visible to us just across the Colorado River from our perches above. The elegant ambiance of the restaurant this evening could not have been better. We left in time to observe most of the Rockets Over the River fireworks show from our parked car on a hilltop overlooking the Laughlin Strip well above Casino Drive. It was a magical night!

Our waiter, Charles, deserves 6 stars for his service alone! He was insanely knowledgeable, funny, and didn't shy away from our alcohol induced antics. He even asked the chef if I could sub an item (chef said nope but I appreciated his effort). The wine is a bit overpriced for what it is, I sent the image of their bottle list to someone more familiar than myself and they confirmed that the price is less at a high end restaurant near LA. The appetizers were delicious. Overall, the food was good but I found the appetizer better than the main course. Everyone else had giant portions of food and mine was just a few bites. For the price, the main course left me feeling a bit disappointed. The dessert was good, drinks were good, and the view was absolutely the best part.
