I was quoted $99 for a haircut where they wouldn't have even taken off more than an inch and a half so I had to respectfully cancel this appointment when stating that it was over budget, they tried to work with me and said that the other stylist could do it, but the haircut would've started at $67 and to me that's just absurd for the little change that I was asking for. I had shoulder length and I just wanted a little off so collarbone length and I wanted to just learn how to appreciate my curls more but yeah if your okay with those prices then sure. read more

I had a wonderful experience at TouchUps today. Anthony really took time to talk to me about what I was needing. I wanted a great pixie cut by someone who was REALLY good cutting short hair. He really looked and felt my hair evaluating it for movement, texture, he thoroughly did it all! He showed me a picture of what he thought would be a great cut for me - I said - let's do it! He also recommended the color. I just turned 59 today - I didn't want to walk out looking 80, like has happened to me before with a pixie. Needless to say, I am thrilled! Recently moved to Mesa from So. CA. Finding a stylist/colorist is so important and challenging. A friend of a friend referred me to TouchUps. When I called at the last minute was told I could get in the next evening. I work, so evenings are a big plus!! The stylist's name was Evelyn. I figured that I'd see how it went but schedule in advance next time with the owner. The salon is pretty, relaxing and has a great Davines product selection. An excellent product. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Well that was one lucky phone call!Evelyn is beyond amazing! How can someone so young have such skill and talent? I have color resistant white roots, a real challenge. Evelyn did such an awesome job of covering my roots and adding beautiful highlights! Thinking this was too good to be true, I made another appointment just to color my roots. This would be the deciding factor as to Evelyn's skill level. She amazed me! I was in search of a new salon and came to Alexia as a new client back in 2016. At the time, my hair was quite the challenge! With it being very fine and completely damaged from over-processing with bleach and color along with the stress of having iTip extensions in for far too long...I basically came in an absolute mess and was like, "help, please fix me!" The goal was to get back to my natural color, grow it out, and most importantly, back to healthy status. Well, needless to say...here we are in 2020...goal achieved (years ago)! Still has awesome technicians but the services seem increasingly based on maximum profit. My hair looks great upon leaving (except twice the highlights didn't take). My complaint is about the gloss he always added for free. Somehow, within a few weeks of highlighting and glossing, my blonde highlights turned brown. Usually there is regrowth that reminds me to make an appointment every sixty-eight weeks. Suddenly, it was like I'd never highlighted. About a year ago, he started charging $25 extra for the gloss. It took me a couple years to troubleshoot why (was he using a different product to lift the hair, was it the gloss)? When I suggested we leave the gloss off, Anthony implied I wouldn't be happy with the color. So I was stuck with faded highlights for a while longer. Since I never needed gloss at other salons, I finally insisted he leave it off, especially since he started charging $25 extra for it. Now, several weeks later, I still have the nice blond highlights (and the regrowth I'm used to). But, I'm taking off two stars for charging me for a product that negated my highlights. read more

This place I went to 3 plus years. I tried to stay. The turn over is crazy which wasva red flag. They promote stylists to 1,2 or 3 ummm ok. The last time I was there my hair dresser had an intern which mixed my color. At the end after wash my hair was not blonde, it was nothing like it normally looks like. I have very thick, full bodied, long dark hair, its hard to style, takes a lot of time to color it and takes forever for me to blow dry. I have a lot to say about why I have made Touch Ups Salon my salon for the past several years. I found them because I am obsessed with Davines, and was searching for an authorized salon to but product. If you haven't used Oi by Davines, you haven't lived. I decided to give Touch Ups a try, and I have been with them ever since. Courtney Sweig is my Girl! - She is my stylist and we have been on quite the hair journey with balayage, among other treatments, and finding the right cut for all this hair. I love my color I love my cuts and she has managed to help my thick hair stay healthy and long. She given me deep conditioning treatments, Keratin treatments and awesome blowouts. Not to mention, much needed waxing services. Bottom line, she is super talented, enthusiastic about hair, and always honest with me about styles and ideas. Anthony - the owner is talented, experienced, creative and fun. Always takes time to say "hi" and chat when I am in the salon. He has done my hair several times, and has always done great work with color and cut. I have had other stylists work on my hair when I've been in including Alexia, who is amazing with styling and Hemon who know how to wrangle my think long hair and can work a braid like a pro. I have always appreciated that if I need to reschedule last minute and my stylist isn't available, any of the stylists available can see me. The front desk staff is awesome as well, very accommodating and helpful. Other things I love about Touch Ups: Complimentary drinks, adult and otherwise Fun free event nights with giveaways Clean modern salon, also very welcoming, I like how the stations are set up so I can easily see and chat with stylists and other clients. I am very impressed with this salon from initial contact to the outcome of my first cut here. I called after being frustrated with my hair. It was growing out after a short cut and locks of hair were sticking out and becoming unmanageable. My hair was also feeling a bit lackluster from coloring a few months prior. The receptionist was so sweet and accommodating. She recommended a stylist who is good with short hair and I have a lot of it! It's straight too which can be challenging. I was scheduled same day on a Saturday which surprised me. Yay! The salon itself is pretty cool looking. It is modern yet minimalist, which I love. There was no clutter anywhere. The blow dryers hang from the ceiling which gave it a unique look. My stylist, Kasey, got me right on time. My shampoo was gentle with amazing smelling products. Kasey and I hit it off right away. She is very personable and professional. I could tell she was skilled and confident. The cut is perfect and my hair feels amazing. (It smells really good too.) It really hurts to give them 3 stars as I hate giving negative views. New client and had a pretty rough start, but willing to give them another chance. I went in there a week ago for a balayage, and first impressions were cute place and welcoming. My stylist was sweet and kind. She was lovely. I let her know what I was looking for and showed pictures of a previous color I had and would love to do it again. I was a bit taken back by how freakin expensive this place was! I lived in one of the most expensive cities in the US last year and was able to get the same service for less. So this was a bit of a turn-off. Especially since what they charged would have covered me in this metro city for a full balayage, style, spa treatment and a tip. It took longer than I've experienced before, but I enjoyed the process. When all was done I did like it initially. It wasn't until the next day when I wore my hair in its natural state and saw it in a different light. I have black hair, and the color I got was gold. It didn't look well on me or on this hair color. I tried for another day or two to see how I liked it, but the color was so off and I think the placement of the balayage too made it look very 90s. I called and shared my dissatisfaction, and they were very understanding and invited me in. I got to come in for a toner. Again, showed pictures and shared what I was happy about and what I wanted to see different. About an hour I was out of the door. So all in all, I was already $220 out of pocket. I was told since this was a redo I would be charged if they dried my hair, so I said no thank you. When my hair dried and I got home I saw the color. It's better, but still not what I wanted. I went from gold to red/copper. The images I shared were not either of these colors. At this point, I'm done, and will just deal with it, but I am not 100% in love with it. For paying the hefty price, I wish I was. Hoping once it grows out and give my hair some time I can get it redone. But whether that's at touchups - I'm not sure. Overall, the people are nice and the atmosphere is lovely, but the cost and getting what I wanted didn't meet expectations. read more
