I was in a bad place credit wise. Yuba City Harley wanted to put me on a Sportster. I'm 6'1" 260lbs.. Not to mention they were trying to rope me into an absolutely absurd finance option, and they were extremely rude to me. Not these guys. They showed me an old road king classic that needed a little TLC. Lived a rough life but it ran great and had a great set of thunder headers for an amazing price and they even worked down the price even more so I could take it home. My OhI went over to the Harley shop a little over a month ago. I've lived in this county all my life so I m pritty family with it. I bought a brand new sportster back in it to 07. I think I walked out paying a little over 13,000.00 for it. It was a nice bike . It ran really good for me for the 4 yrs I had it.Anywayvi ended up selling it and I regretted it from that day on. I've been saving my money and waiting until I could afford to replace it.I finely came up with almost 9 thousand and figured that should be enough to pic up something used that I could get around on. I went over there and sure enough there was a really nice used bike 4 sale for I think 6999.00 it was a Dyna wide gluide.it had everything i was looking for. It was at that time I did find out about the shop selling and the new owner ship. What gave me my first clue was I was standing outside looking at this used Dyna for about a half hour and no one came out and asked me if the could help me? I had to go inside and I went up to what looked like one of the managers and asked him if they were still opened? At that point two or three sales people came out and asked me what could they do for me? I told one guy.( I won't mention names) that I would like to see the wide glide outside. To make this short and sweet. This fellow acted like I was wasting his time as soon as we meet. I told him I had cash and was very excited to possibly buy a used bike. I even told him I was a return customer. I told him I was from Paradise and had recently lost my home and it was getting late so I asked him if I could come back tomorrow?. He said it would be better if I came back Monday as it was Friday. I said very well. I came back money and the wide glide was gone ,he sold it and I just bought almost the exact bike for two grand less off of Craig's list. So as you can hear. I went to these guys for tires on my bike. They said 2 to 3 days to get the current tires that harleys come with. The extended warranty is a joke. They made me wait a couple more days. Sierra Steel helps out travelers in a jam! I broke down while on a solo road trip and had my '05 Heritage Softail towed from Chester to Chico. Despite being booked two weeks out, Craig got one of his techs to check it out. He quickly diagnosed the issue and began to repair the starter which had a pinched wire in the housing. Steve kept me updated as I waited and we talked about roads, cruises and bikes. Within a couple hours they had fixed the starter and were detailing my bike, so I could go get it dirty again! I was so happy! Also, Sandy is amazing! I was going to get a pin as a momento, but they were out so Sandy gave me a water bottle and pen with their name on them. Later as I waited, she hooked me up with a sandwich and frozen bottle of water! I'll never forget my experience there. This is my first purchase at Sierra Steel Harley Davidson. I have browsed there a couple of times but today would be more than a Chili or Rib cookoff. As you know buying a new vehicle can be nerve racking at times. This is my first Harley, I have questions...many questions.. lots of questions. Upon entering the facility I was greeted by Erika. She quickly got to know my wife and I. Erika was able to answer all my question promptly. Her knowledge of Harley Davidson options and features was much appreciated. I did my homework, I had a list of things I wanted and better yet, I knew what I did not want. Not having to settle she quickly found us a 2017 Ultra Limited in the color of my choice. We negotiate and quickly agreed on terms. Erika is a sales professional. While negotiating with Erika, Steve Adams came over to say hi and ask us if there was anything we needed to let him know. I figured he was the sales manager. I later learned that he was the owner. I must say have bought several cars, motorcycles and ATV's from various dealers over the years and have never met a single owner walking or greeting among customers. It was nice to see a working owner. Back to Erika. Erika provided excellent customer service. Hope she is around when I trade this one in, in ten years. Erika helped us quickly strike a deal and then took us to later finalized the price with their sales manager Bruce. Bruce was pleasant and cheerful. We got the price we wanted, he worked to get us the best financing Harley was offering on its new 2017's. I know because I checked before I got there. After finishing with Bruce, Erika took us to meet Sandy in their apparel store. Sandy took us around and showed us where the deals were and where the quality items are kept. She helped me find some shirts in my size. Not easy when you are a 4XL, but Sandy knew where they were. Sandy showed us around and knew her stuff. We were also greeted by Cleo. Cleo, is great. She helped us pick out some helmets for me and my wife, she explained all of the benefits of half vs 3/4, vs convertible. We ended up getting a couple Harley Davidson convertible helmets. (may pick up some half helmets for the valley summer temperatures later). Cleo was a huge help. She knew her helmets. After we bought some shirts, picked out some helmets, Sandy took us to meet Trey in Parts, but not before she put a couple of freebies in our bag. Thanks Sandy! Once we got to parts, Trey took the time explain the layout of the Parts and Accessories catalog. For Harley owners this is like the Sears Wishbook of goodies. Everything you could ever want for your ride is in this one book. Trey took the time to show me how to navigate through it. Once finished with Trey, he then took us out to meet Craig in the Service Department but not before placing a couple of real nice freebies in our bag. Thanks Trey! Craig was great. He took some time out of his busy Saturday to explain common service items, service intervals, along with rates we could expect for service. This was a huge benefit later when we got to financing and discussed service contracts. I had a great time discussing Screamin Eagle parts with Craig and it was great to learn that Harley performance parts installed by them would not affect my warranty. Craig then took me up to Finance where I was met by Choir, but not before placing some more free items in out bag! Thanks Craig! Choir was great, so full of joy and comedy he really made our experience great. We ended up arriving at Sierra Steel on a very busy day for them. We were one of a few new bike owners waiting for finance. To kill a bit of time, we met with Brian Gonsalves, Sierra Steel's Fixed Operations Manager. I learned he has worked here more than 22 years. I knew I needed to pick his brain a bit. We hung out while he answered my endless Harley questions as well as specific questions about my Ultra Limited with the new Milwaukee 8 engine. Our time visiting with him was wonderful. He has really assembled a great group of workers that really gave my wife and I the VIP treatment. The delay to financing did not stop the excellent service. Bruce, the sales manager came over sat us down and got our financing paperwork started. Bruce got us a great price on a service contract and even better price on an extended warranty, before Choir came and finished us up. Never have I felt so important as a customer. Their VIP treatment of taking myself and my wife around to the different departments was a real treat and made me feel more like family than a customer. Meeting with each department head personalizes our future relationship. I can not express how wonderful my experience at Sierra Steel was. It is not that often something is so good that I feel the need to take time out of my day to tell others about the service I received. Superior service that causes me to drive 50 miles out of the way to get my bike worked on. They aren't the fastest and they are only so so friendly in the service department (some are awesome, some seem to have bad days...often) but they do good work. read more

I would not recommend taking your bike here to get serviced. To be honest the sales staff and managers are amazing but when it comes to service you are S.O.L. I took my 2018 Fatboy that I got from them in for service because it didn't sound right and they told me it was fine. I accepted that since it was the new Milwaukee motor but a short time later it started missing, threw up 2 codes and had a loss in power. Once again I took it in. They cleared the codes and told me it was fine. A couple of days later the gas gage stopped working and I had had enough. The next day I took it to Yuba HD. They were amazing. It took then a day to figure out that there was a short in my wiring harness and after a week it was as good as new. It's funny that Chico said there was nothing wrong with it and to just ride it until it dies since it only had 3000 miles on it and it was still under warranty. So to sum this up if you live in Chico and are thinking about getting a bike just go to Yuba. You will have a better experience. read more

I was passing through Chico and needed new tires. I called, not expecting to get in until the following day however the employee I was talking to, Robbie, stated that they could get me in an out that same day. Additionally, when I brought the bike in, it was covered in dirt and bugs. When I got it back, it had been thoroughly wiped down which was completely unexpected. I bought my 2010 Sportster 48 in early January 2016 from Sierra Steal. It is beautiful and I got a great deal on it. I got mad at this dealership because every time I took it out for the 1st 6 months I had people offering to buy it for way more than I paid but I had to pass because the dealership did not send me my title. I called several times and was told the person who handles this was unavailable but she would call me back. She never did. So I went to the dealership in person and was given the same answer. I then went out to my truck and called Harley Davidson's headquarters. They called the dealership and within minutes they ran out to my truck and knocked on my window and gave me my title. I bought my '16 Fat Boy S at Sierra Steel in Chico. I absolutely love it! A huge part of the enjoyment is the actual experience I had making the purchase. I kept going back to the one I bought and Paul worked out the numbers to my comfort zone and I rode out of there on my brand new bad ass Fat boy. My boyfriend and I recent bought a bike from Chico Harley. At first they worked really hard to get us the loan. After we were approved, it became a shit show. We finally went to pick up the bike and something was wrong with it. They gave us a loner, which was cool but then when we went back to get it, we only made it to Grass Valley and the bike blew up. There wasn't oil in it. We both called multiple times over the next couple months and they were horrible about returning calls. Nobody was helping us. Its been so frustrating dealing with them. We got the bike 3 months ago and only rode it that one time. I feel like they should have made it right asap. We felt totally ignored by them. Its been a very frustrating experience. How the hell does a bike leave the service department with no oil, to blow a piston within a hour ride?? And we still don't have the bike but making a fat payment every month. read more

I came to believe that it was just me, a range of issues, maybe I was riding the bike wrong, when my brand new Road King from Sierra Steel was constantly overheating to the point of stalling and not being able to restart posing a big danger in heavy traffic, burning the legs of me, and my wife's leg when she was on the back, not being able to put the bike in neutral, having to be a power lifter on steroids just to pull and or hold in the clutch lever, and other major dangers from defective design. After my Road King burned up with just 300 miles on it from a recent national disaster fire, we get little or no help from the Sierra Steel dealership trying to get a refund on the $1,995 service plan and a $300 tire and wheel plan. Then, today I discover many lawsuits, a $2 million dollar jury award verdict against HD for injury or damages, various class action lawsuits for the above defective design problems that were kept secret when I was buying the bike. I asked Choir that is a manager of sorts, and others at Sierra Steel to help process my refunds for the service plans, he said it would be a pro-rated refund but when I asked for phone numbers to call about it he said there isn't one. That's kind of curious, but I did not want to argue with him as he can be difficult if you question him on anything. So, I went looking for phone numbers myself, but there does not appear to be any anywhere to call about service plan refunds. That in itself seems kind of like a scam, possibly illegal, by Harley Davidson and maybe others, of deliberate origins. Everyone from Choir to the dealership owner who we saw a few times around the dealership should have told us about these various serious problems and dangers concerning Harley Davidson, and how tricky it is to try to get a service plan refund, but it was all kept quiet when we bought the bike. Indeed, we were sincere buyers that hand over our money including a down payment of $7,000 in cash, financing the rest through HD Financial Service for monthly payments. Sierra Steel was there to take our money about the bike and service plans so Sierra Steel should be there to return it to us. When Choir told us there is no phone number to give us to call the service plans, that does not seem like a fair business practice. The kicker on all of this may have been when HD and HD financial services managed to put a repossession order out on our new Harley without us even knowing they were looking for our bike to repossess it. We luckily found out while traveling far from home by calling HDFS to make sure the payments were going through. They could have and we believe should have emailed us, but no one did. They would have taken the bike if it had not been in the care of our pastor at another address while we were traveling. Supposedly HDFS or someone made an error on our checking account number by one digit, even though we verified it was correct several times before sitting back and expecting the payments to go through. I was born and raised in Chico, traveled the world a lot in the Marines and later also in the Army, still do so in medical retirement status, have always been fair and honest with people, companies, society, but this whole matter including the problems of not warning customers about all the issues and outright dangers with Harleys, BEFORE they buy a Harley and the service plans, feels very wrong. Sierra Steel should, we believe, be fair, honest, upfront about all of this now and in the future for we as customers and for other customers and potential new customers, then they will benefit in the end by showing they care and stand behind what they sell and market. Also, I was told by Choir the sales/admin manager to email Kim there at the dealership about the requested refunds on the service plans, which I did a week ago, but she did not respond at all. Sierra Steel needs to set a good example for themselves, all of Harley Davidson, but mostly for their own store where they sell Harley motorcycles and products. They should not pass the buck, say there is no phone number to call about the plan refunds. They should just be diligent, fair and basically fully honest. Honesty and fairness is always the best policy. These sort of shortcoming should not be done to Harley buyers, especially first time Harley owners like us they never suspected there could be so many problems from buying a Harley. Dare we say, especially not to a 100% service-connected disabled US Marine such as myself. I bought a Harley and all the trimmings to be able to relax and hopefully have fun, not to get put through this sort of pain -- leg burns, big hassles on service plan refunds, etc. Sierra Steel seems to only care about selling new bikes and does not seem to care at all about refunds on the very expensive service plans, or the many problems and dangers with Harley Davidsons. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," seems sorely missing at Sierra Steel and Harley Davidson. read more

My husband and I recently purchased our new bike from Sierra Steel Harley Davidson. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We loved the friendly and helpful staff and how they make you feel like family. This is why it pains us to write this review, but the consumer needs to know... The first step of the purchase was with Bruce, in the warehouse building of the establishment. This is where they crunch the initial numbers before completing the paperwork with Choir. We told Bruce that we would not finance with Harley because it would probably be a 25% or better interest rate. He was quick to correct us "No. Why would you think that? It's 11%" We were both surprised and thought, well that is not the best rate, but we could refinance and lower it. Bruce said "Well wait about 30 days before you to that..." We wanted to build a good relationship with Sierra Steel, so we thought that would be fine. We were financed with "Harley-Davidson Credit Corp." After waiting the agreed upon timeline. We started the refinancing process. This is where we learned that the "11%" is a "daily" interest rate. WE HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. It never occurred to us to clarify the 11% to be monthly or daily. NEVER. We cannot say that Bruce knew about this, but we can also not say, the he didn't. Our payment was $432.88 of that $245.52 was interest and $187.36 was principal at 10.95%. These numbers were from the month of February where we only had 28 days. Consumers please be sure to ask if your interest rate is daily or monthly. read more
