As much as I enjoyed the purchase experience at Chico Motorsports, the service experience has ruined everything. If you value your safety, take your bike somewhere else. The lack of attention to detail at this shop could get you killed. Here is my communication to the dealership after my last service, with no response from the business: I have spent a couple of days thinking about the service performed on my motorcycle last week 9-10 OCT 2019. I brought the bike in for its 7600-mile service and it was discovered new tires were needed as well. I explained to the service department that Evans Waterless Coolant was in the motorcycle and if any coolant was needed it could be found in the left saddlebag. I even watched the service guy retype the service order to include this information. So here go the problems: My seat was in place but not completely seated and locked into place. I rode for over fifty miles with an unstable platform. If I had to complete an emergency maneuver, I could have been toast. This is a MAJOR biggie, I don't want to die because someone didn't finish their job. NOT COOL AT ALL!!! My coolant was topped off with regular Kawasaki coolant, which includes water. The service guys ensured me that the engine was not run with the wrong coolant in place. This creates another set of problems: Did the mechanic complete oil and spark plug change without checking how the engine ran afterward? Or were they less than truthful about running the engine, which means the work to change back to Evans has to happen again. I don't want to write a book describing how much work and expense I went through to make the switch in the first place, the cost of the 1 gallon of coolant and 1.5 gallons of prep fluid will exceed $100. The specification in the Kawasaki service manual and the sidewall of the tires calls for a pressure of 42 psi., cold. My front tire was set at 39 psi, and the rear at 46 psi. Is this just another example of a lack of attention to detail? Considering the short life of the Dunlop tires, I sure hate to think that I was abusing them during the break-in period. I seem to remember that having the correct pressure is a safety issue relating to handling? The final issue is a bit subjective. The idle is set at what seems to be about 900 rpm, the spec is about 1100. No big deal to adjust, if the adjustment knob had not been placed back behind my fairing, making it impossible to reach. Not fun having to remove the fairing just because of a knob. The adjustment is subjective, having the knob hidden away is a REAL pain. The next question is: What else didn't get done properly, the oil change, final drive, torque the wheel bolts, etc? Where do we go from here? I am not so sure. I came up to your shop because of a previous positive experience, boy the service department erased that warm and fuzzy feeling pretty quickly. Both of which didn't bother to greet or talk to me the entire time. If I was the owner, I'd be pissed that my guys cost me a big sale just for the simple fact that they couldn't say hello. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I brought my suzuki vl800 into Chico Motorsports because I thought they were the pros in town to find the mechanical problem and get my bike back on the road, and save my sanity at same time. I got the complete opposite. I had to wait a month to get an appointment, fine ok, no big rush. I brought it in on Aug 18. Said no big rush, just do it right and do what needs to be done, your the pro's, I couldn't do it. At the end of the month no word from them ok. End of next month, nothing, October, November, December, January, February, I called at the end of each month all I got was we are very busy and yours is a big job Yeah it may be a big job but my money is just as good as the 100 other bikes you have done before mine. They sat on my $1000 until I finally said forget it I'm picking it up and bringing it to a professional that knows how to put a bike back together. This was April 7, got it to a shop 100 miles away, and my pipes, seat, and bars are missing. They only found seat, and one pipe in 2 pieces. I could go on bit I'm pissed off again and feel ripped off with them charging me $276 after 8 months of doing nothing, came back incomplete and worse off than when I brought it in. If you like to ride, you won't be riding soon if you bring your bike to this low level unprofessional shop. I'm surprised that Suzuki even lets them advertise for them. Take the time and spend the gas money to stay as far away from Chico motorsports you can ride home from. If a job is too big and complicated for you to handle, tell the owner, don't sit on your ass for 8 months and rip him off in the end. read more

I purchased a 2020 z400. The owner is a very unpleasant person. He is rude to his staff as well as customers. The service department is a joke. If you trust this shop with your motorcycle your asking for trouble. They have no service writer, my bike had an appointment on Thursday, no phone call from shop. I called the shop after waiting 2 days and they told me they wouldn't even look at the bike till the following Thursday. When I peeked into the shop area it was messy and disorganized to the point I felt it unsafe to leave my motorcycle. The owner was a rude miserable person. I purchased a scooter from them a few years ago. So I get it serviced here all the time. The customer service has always been mediocre. Sometimes they are the best and they treat you with respect. But most of the time they treat you like they are indifferent to you bringing your business to them. The last time I was in there guy at the desk was on the phone and made us wait 15 MINUTES! Sure I get it it it might be a customer on the phone but working in a small office I know that you put the phone on hold address the customer coming in figure out what they need. Then you evaluate what should be done first. We weren't greeted or acknowledge. He didn't even apologize for making us wait. They also say they are going to call me back but they never do. So you must call before they close to pick up what you dropped off or else they charge for overnight parking/storage. read more

I have had a few experiences at chico motorsports, everyone being bad and I will never go back. This being the final straw... I took a running bike that stuttered a bit to these guys and they called me saying that the bike was a piece of junk and to come pick it up. When I get there they had all the parts removed from the bike and in a plastic bag. And the bike was no longer running. They claimed the points were shot, the startor was bad and the whole bike was a pos. They said to take it back to the guy I got it from. I called the guy who had built the bike and he looked it and there was nothing wrong with any of the parts, so he put it back together and found that there was actually just a bad ground somewhere and the bike has run great ever since. read more

I took my V-Star there because of a charging problem. I explained when it occurred but when I picked it up a few days later they said it never happened to them and they charged me (I forgot how much). I took it to Apex and he knew from my description what the problem was and replaced the needed part. Later I was talking to a tech at the Red Bluff Yamaha shop and he also knew what the problem had been from my description. Later I had after market fork springs installed which came with a pvc tube that had to be cut to adjust pre-load. When I picked up the bike the front fork barely compressed. When I asked if the mechanic had even test road my bike after installation they said he had ridden it "around the parking lot"...! I took it to Red Bluff Yamaha and had the job done again (and had to pay again of course) and it was done right. I'm beginning to see a pattern. I will say, the guys at the parts counter and the sales guy are friendly and helpful. read more

Terrible service shop. I brought my bike in to have a fork seal replaced, was quoted $400... I said no way it should be that much. They told me it's only high because they don't know how much the fork seals cost(about $10 a piece, btw) so I left them my bike with the understanding that the quoted price would be drastically adjusted. Went to pick up my bike and guess what the bill was... Yup. $400. To replace 2 fork seals!! A 45 minute job that I wish I'd had the time and tools to do myself. These guys are dishonest and shady. This is the reason independent shops lose so much revenue to the internet parts industry. Nobody will pay a few bucks more to buy parts and apparel from you, when you just turn around and rob them blind like this in return. So count me as a first time/last time customer, dummies. I hope the extra money you charged me was worth it. I'll never spend another of my hard earned dollars there. read more

I broke my throttle cable and I needed a new one. They said it would be shipped here by Tuesday and they would call me in the morning when it gets there. They never called on Tuesday. So I called them right before they closed on Wednesday and they had it the whole time and never called. I then install it and it was the wrong throttle cable for my bike. It was way too long. On the phone they acted un sure if they could order my cable. Instead of saying you do have a cable, they could have said no we don't. Not a trust worthy place in my one situation read more

Felt very welcomed when I rode in on my flat tire. They took care of it immediately and sent me on my way charging $40 for labor. When I got home I found that my directional tire was on backwards, they agreed to fix it free of charge. When I brought it back I asked if they could also change the oil while fixing the tire. Keep in mind I've made a second trip and the changing the oil part didn't require additional set up time, drained while he performed the tire work and spent another 10 minutes installing the oil filter and filling the oil. Once again they decided it was fair to charge another $40 or half hour of labor. Don't recommend they gut your wallet at every opportunity. read more

AMAZING! My husband and I went there yesterday (6/16/12) to buy two bikes. We walked in the door, right past the sale guy; he did NOT acknowledge us... we were the ONLY customers in the store!!!! We looked at a few of the bikes, still no acknowledgement......We finally settled on two bikes we wanted to ask questions about.......A lady walked in needing a helmet......Sales guy up and showing the helmets......still not a word to us (WOW) mind you there were two other guys at the parts counter.......finally I had enough and told my husband "let's go!" .....still nothing.......Left .....went to Yuba City MotorSports and.....20K later we had our two bikes.......Will NEVER step foot in Chico Motorsports again!!!!!! read more

First off worst experience every there service department is terrible.so I brought my bike in to get something fixed on the carb they said they would look at it that day and get back to me they never called me I dropped my bike off Tuesday I called them Thursday.they said the part will be here Friday and they would have it done Friday called them Saturday they said they would have it down Tuesday they said it was done I go down there pay them and get ready to load it I walk over to get it they said I would have to come back later it was still apart.i go back and get it and my throttle cable isn't hooked up and on top of that the worst customer service I will never go back they again........now I have to take it to a different shop to get the throttle cable put back on and tighten because I don't know how to read more

Don't even go to these Wana Be' motorcycle guys, I took my bike there to have a tire repaired, they charged 100 dollars to install a tube in my tire .. two weeks later it was flat . I called them and they said that a motorcycle tire looses 2 pounds a week in air,,, Liars,,Bogus information,, Can you believe it They would not honor my repair.. I wish I had read the reviews before wasting my time. Went in to look for an accessory for my son's bike. Guy at the desk greeted me, asked what I needed. Good so far. We went to the display wall, asked a couple questions, then.....his cell phone rang. He looked then put it in his pocket. It rang again. He looks and says he "has to take this" and walks away. Sounded like a business call (not the emergency kind). I wait, then a kid wanders out and asks if I'm looking at the stuff I'm standing in front of. Well, I was trying to. A disabled customer knocks on the glass door for assistance to be let in, which I do. The kid follows me, then goes off with this customer without a word. No "Hey, I'll be right with you as soon as I help this lady that's been waiting for 10 minutes." Neither employee ever came back or indicated that might be a possibility. So, I'll take my $200 sale and all my son's future business to a place that has common sense and customer service. read more

I will never bring anything I own to this location again. I bought my sv650 here new, and figured I would do the first couple of services here because it's the only dealer in the area, and I like to support local businesses. My first service there they leave the oil filter o-ring from the original filter on and put the new filter on top of it. How do I know? I pulled out to the signal, leave at the green light, hear a pop, rear end slides out from all the oil dumping out from the filter. I chalk it up to it possibly being a new guy working on my bike, which took most of the day to finish. I walk the bike back to the service area, and they try to make amends by offering some tickets to the local races happening that night. Needless to say, I never take my bike back for another oil change. My next experience there: I pick up a nail in my tire. I take it in to have a new tire installed. they only have one tire in stock in my size. Screw it, I need a tire, just put it on. Few hours later after paying more for than msrp for my new bridgestone bt-016 plus the mounting and balancing fees, I come to pick up my bike. I'm told my brake pads are dangerously low at 18,000 miles. It seems a bit premature for my riding style, but ok, let's look at some replacement pads. They actually have the pads cheaper than most online places (ebc hh pads) and order them. I do my own inspection when I get home and WTH?!?! My pads are hardly 50% worn. I was told I would get a call when my new pads came in. Never got the call. I call them 2 days after they were supposed to arrive "oh, we don't have them here, looks like the order never got put in, they should be here early next week." At this point I figure I'll at least have brake pads for when they actually do need to be replaced. Again, they won't get my business for this service, but my brakes are still doing just fine after another 8,000 miles of normal riding on them. My last and final encounter with this "shop." My chain is worn, and I don't have the correct rivet tool to replace it myself. Again I buy the part from the parts counter, and have them cut the chain to the correct length. Or so I thought. There was about a month between my buying the chain, and having it installed, I just didn't have the time to have it done right then. Fast forward to when I bring in the bike to have the work done, and I get a call 2 hours after my appointment time: "Hi, but it seems like this is the wrong chain you brought in." I tell them to check my purchase history, and lo and behold they admitted it was the chain I purchased through them. I'm pretty irritated at this point, and I get my bike about an hour later after they "took care of it." By this time the tire I had installed is at the wear bars, I'm about to remove the wheel when I notice something is off. The MASTER LINK CLIP FROM THE CHAIN IS MISSING! I've only ever witnessed these things coming off when they are installed BACKWARDS. Never has one come off when installed correctly. Their technicians are either incompetent, or negligent. If you want to gamble with being stranded in the middle of nowhere, then by all means take your bike here. read more

If you own a Yamaha and need factory parts, you're stuck with these clowns. Unfortunately they don't stock much, and have to order even common parts like clutch cables and carb gaskets/o-rings. The parts guy I talked to seemed like he was doing me a favor by even listening to what I wanted; what a stinkin' attitude. Their floor merchandise is all way over priced so I just got out of there. Great place to do business. Service department is always fair and provides great service. I highly recommend shopping here. I don't usually write reviews. In fact this the first review I have written. I felt compelled due to the fact the service department went above and beyond. I took my kids quad in two separate times because it wouldn't start. The service technician trouble shot it before I left and easily fixed the problem. The best part is they didn't even charge me. I asked how much and they said "save your money and go have some fun with your family". That type of service just doesn't happen anymore. Again, great people and place to do business with. read more
