Could be better. Compared to all the other supermarkets in the area, they lack in quality of meat and fish. They also don't have a lot of the same products and items that you'd normally find. They are, however, pretty neat and organized. It is definitely one of the more cleaner and spacious markets. It's located in a large plaza with other shops so there should be plenty of parking. This is a very large and spacious grocery store with vaulted ceiling space and with other small shops in the front (dessert shop, clothing store, deli etc). There's ample parking. They sold all of the Vietnamese goods I was looking for. The bad: They sold live frogs. The check-out area is kind of cramped and narrow. Same name as my San Diego location, maybe has some connection with that, but since we were in OC and I tried to avoid the traffic from ABC near Bolsa, instead I decided to come here for Mom groceries, well they still have the typical concept for most Vietnamese super market where you can do multiples things besides shopping, you can buy plane tickets or to go food from different vendors inside the market, they most likely still have it at 99 ranch and HMart, but they eliminated this concept for San Diego Viet markets already, maybe they didn't do very well. Anyway they have stuffs, but not all the stuffs we were looking for such as rau muống aka Vietnamese water spinach, I asked one of the employees and he said they ran out of stock, hmmm for a Vietnamese market you should have this item fully stocked especially on a Sunday, I am very skeptical but again that explains for the parking lot without many cars, well better luck next time. read more

Stopped by here because of my positive experiences shopping at the Shun Fat store(s) when we lived in Las Vegas. By positive experiences, I'm referencing the well stocked and wide ranging variety of aisles/shelves of both food and non food items as well as produce meats and fresh seafood. Decent customer service has never been a hallmark of most Chinatown businesses I always frequented be it both Bay Area Chinatowns, Las Vegas' Chinatown or here in Little Saigon. I found some produce (whole wintermelon) , and some pantry staples here that I have not seen at other Asian grocery stores in the area. Yay! My cashier was pleasant and spoke English once she heard my first verbal response. She ran jnto a problem with the code for the whole wintermelon. It took some female manager a total of about 10 minutes to look up the code after she was through doing some other activities first. Damn the line of customers getting longer by the minute. She finally shouts the item code from the office from about 7 checkstands away. My poor cashier kept apologizing. So now I'm exiting. I've been watching this older Asian Security Officer checking receipts a la Costco style. Then he hands each shopper a package of some type of Asian snack. My turn. Approx $29 purchase. Looks at my receipt, marks it, hands it back. No freebie handout from the snack Nazi. BUT every shopper behind me got one. Guessing he doesn't like ABC's like me. Despite today's experience, I will keep this store in my list of pteferred Asian grocery stores based solely on decent prices for most items ( you need to do your shopping comparison homework) and excellent variety of product selection. read more

The supermarket was pretty clean, lots of products to choose. We were here yesterday lunch (Tuesday) around 1230pm. But why the parking lot had only few cars? My first time here. Prices are higher than different Vietnamese supermarket 3 to 4%, cashier was pretty cold if you don't want to say that she was rude. She looked at the guests with a cold face, no feeling, from the time we entered the line to the time we got out, no eyes contact, no greeting, no thanks or not even a simple smile beside her cold look toward the guests. The cashiers here wear pretty red vest, but they got no training at all. They should never touch the card (visa or whatever card) of the guest unless the guest ask them to help. They should ask if the guest find everything ok or did the guest has problem locating any item, at least they SHOULD HAVE A SMILING FACE to welcome the guest and SAY thanks when they hand the receipt to the guest. Parking can get very annoying when coming to this market. Getting into the parking lot can be a challenge on it's own though, since Brookhurst can be a parking lot. As with a lot of supermarkets in the area, the entryway is shared by a lot of smaller businesses. I was surprised and kind of excited to see newer shopping carts, as it meant that it wouldn't be a bumpy trip through the market. The aisles are pretty clean, and there are no horrific odors unless you get too close to the live seafood tanks. The vegetables and fruits can be hit or miss, but prices are usually pretty good. We like to come here for our homemade pho ingredients, as they have a varied selection of fish, pork, beef, and chicken meatballs. They also have a good selection of other meats as well. The meat counter can get pretty hectic though. They don't have any kind of ticket system, so you have to try to get the next available butcher's attention. This can be annoying if someone comes along and yells at the guy before you can get their attention first, which happens a lot. Sometimes the price stickers and papers are missing from the shelves and displays, but when in doubt, you can always do a price check at the register before checking out. When live dungeness crabs are in season, the prices at this place are usually better than other markets, but they won't tell you over the phone. read more

They have certain brands of prepackaged ramen and pho that I can't find anywhere else (Long story short, had my gallbladder removed and can't eat ramen that's been fried due to the fat content), and it's becomes a staple in my household. The only problem is the CHECKOUT LINES. They're terrible. There's at best, three ladies working at a snail's pace with lines 10 deep. I waited 45 minutes yesterday, not making it up. The lady was bagging and knotting everything for the Two People in front and it was taking forever. No express lines, don't even ask. I bring totebags and found some boxes around the store because I only come here every few months to stock up because it's a nightmare, that's all I can tolerate. And two ladies interrogated me about stealing a product, that they don't even sell, that I picked up at Target next door. They went apesh*t about it and screamed at me in Vietnamese, which I am not fluent in. On the way out, the security guard is a d*ck, too, won't take no for an answer about snatching my receipt and trying to make himself look useful so he doesn't find himself unemployed. Review for their Dim Sum to go section... girlfriend wanted cheap fast dim sum to go and she said this place has a little to go area inside where we can get some. i was pretty impressed because they had a large variety and it was oh so cheap. they range from $1-$2 per side order. We ordered about 6 items and the total was a little less than $10. I was stuffed too. I would say the food is similar to the restaurant quality, no lesser. Theres a little area where you can seat and enjoy your to go food. The dim sum area is to the left of the supermarket out by the front. I think this place is good for those who want dim sum really cheap and who doesnt want to wait for their food. They also have it all day. Only downside is it's CASH ONLY. read more

I had reviewed this supermarket a long time ago, I gave it a 4 because I only bought dry goods. First of all, there was a rude message right at the entrance w an unfriendly guard at the door "do not take pictures" hey did you think you were that hot and the only market in town? if we take pictures (I did) it was to your advantage, get free publicity from YELP, but unfortunately for you by the time I left the store, I was disgusted. We went straight to the vegetable area first, my husband was shocked, the carrots were literally ROTTEN, DRIPPING W BACTERIAS oozing out of the plastic, he was disgusted and left, I told him I was there to look for glass jelly w a banana flavor so I did find that, no one else in town carry this flavor, otherwise they would get ZERO STAR!!!. I should have listened to my husband and left, I went to the meat department and bought some chicken. It didn't look very fresh but I thought it was reasonably priced and it will be cooked to death on the barbie so it wouldn't make a difference. Big mistake, I spent so much time slicing it to keep the pieces smaller, these chickens were gigantic, big like a turkey!!! marinating overnight w garlic, soy sauce, etc.. I also marinated the coq au vin w French spices, fresh garlic, a little Maggi sauce. The coq au vin came out really good, my husband said, it was cooked in a wok and simmered for 1 hour so everything was cool. The BBQ chicken was a disaster, it tasted CHICKENY, what it was, was it must have been imported from China, frozen n God knows what was added to it, it was totally gross, i trashed it after my poor husband grilled it on charcoal briquettes for an hour. I was in China when their FDA (believe it or not they do have a sort of fake FDA, threw some crook in jail for adding toxic chemicals to mask the taste of spoiled crawfish and shrimp. From that day on, I would not be surprised they would sell chickens that were sick w chicken flu. Don't laugh this is no joke, this was done in many 3rd world countries, I have immunity of a 20 yo but starting last year it's no longer the case, I have finally sworn off globetrotting in the 3rd world, I have a friend who caught hepatitis C from her trip to the Philippines. I was so angry, so much time to prepare and I haven't cooked chicken in years, the next time I will only buy from an American supermarket. On the other hand, many restaurants are open today for dining, I'm not afraid, we should all support local businesses or many restaurants will all go out of business, I heard in the news, only 1 death in Huntington Beach, what's the problem? All the houses in my neighborhood have 3,400 sf, plenty of social distancing so ain't got Covid19 death here, 1 is nothing for a city of 200,000 people. it's probably the largest Asian supermarket chain well stocked with lots of grocery items, roomier and cleaner than most Asian markets. Prices are also lower for most items, especially meats and dry foods. Pork is fresh and good here. It has a decent vegetables and fruit section, usually fresh. Things are easy to find, but lots of items are not labeled with any prices. I would take different brands of the same item and have the check out people find the price and leave what I don't want behind, just more work for them to restock. I keep coming back to this market as their stores are cleaner and more spacious with well-stocked shelves. read more
