I've known ABC Supermarket in Westminster since I first moved down to OC, and it's been around for a long time. It's one of those classic Asian markets I still visit once in a while. It's a big supermarket with a wide selection of Asian groceries, fresh produce, and especially seafood. I usually come here to buy lobster and crab when they go on sale, since the prices are pretty good compared to other places. I don't really come here often though, mainly because of the strong fishy smell inside the store. Every time I leave, I feel like the smell sticks to my clothes, which I don't really like. Also, it can get very busy and the checkout lines are usually long. The staff at the front can also be a bit hit or miss in terms of friendliness. Parking can also be a bit difficult sometimes since this whole area has a lot of different businesses, so it gets crowded pretty easily. Overall, it's still a convenient place for good seafood deals and Asian groceries, but I mostly just come when there's a sale on lobster or crab. read more

ABC Market has all your Vietnamese grocery needs. There is a huge fresh vegetable section as well as a meat area. I believe I smelled fried fish as well. What I loved was the Vietnamese kitchen cooking gadgets. I bought a coffee dripper (& coffee grounds), bought bowls and strainers, as well as noodle and frying tools. The store was clean and had lots of variety of products. Checkout was easy with short lines. Loved that there is a huge parking lot for this shopping center. read more

But if you're looking for cheap produce and groceries abc market is a decent place to go. This place is a madhouse around the holidays, but I do enjoy buying lobster and having the House Special sauce (Dac Biet). Lemme break down the workflow: You go to the seafood counter, wait in line, and there's two men pulling lobsters out of a huge tank. You tell him how many lobsters you want, and he hands you a bag and puts a lobster in it. Then you wait in line again at the actual meat counter, and ask for them to cook it. They hand you a ticket and you bring that to the very front left of the supermarket where they sell food to go. You pay first (yes they accept card), and they give you a receipt and let you know when to come back and pick up the order. Do not lose the receipt! It's always sooo delicious, hot, crispy and indulgent. This place gets packed with Viet people, so you know it's authentic and good. read more

A local friend who really knows the area took me to check out this Vietnamese supermarket, saying their sauces and seafood are especially cheap. After walking around the store, I noticed that some of the vegetables are slightly cheaper than at Shun Fat. As for sauces, I did a quick comparison with two Lee Kum Kee products I often buy: * Honey Soy Braising Sauce: As of early June 2025, it's on sale for $2.99 on Weee, but here it's $3.19. * Sweet Soy Sauce: $5.99 on Weee, but only $4.99 here -- $1 cheaper! I even checked my receipt from Shun Fat back in April: I paid $3.29 for the Honey Soy Sauce (so this place is $0.10 cheaper), and $4.99 for the Sweet Soy Sauce, same price as here. The meat and seafood sections are clean and well-lit. Live Boston lobsters were on sale for $9.99/lb (as of 6/5/2025) and there was a line of people grabbing them. They also had a wide variety of live seafood, probably more than nearby Shun Fat or T&T Supermarket and prices are about the same or a bit cheaper. Bonus: they can clean or prep the seafood for you. ABC is too popular amongst the Vietnamese American community here, I guess if you're visiting OC, you have to stop by here and buy something, they have so many things that other Vietnamese markets from different cities didn't have, especially the produce sections got more varieties with cheaper prices. Seafood section also got great deals, I remember they used to have special for lobsters and crabs that they cook for you on the spot, the biggest lobster you would ever seen, now it's looked like they changed it, still they have other stuffs to draw you in here if you're not from OC :) read more

Terrible crowded parking lot, everyone cutting each other off to get ahead. Crowded store entrance and checkout aisles blocking everyone's way. To order to-go cooked lobster, it's a convoluted process: the first step is neither at the to-go area nor at the seafood weighing area. Nope. It's at the lobster tank section, even if you don't see an employee there. The process wasted me about 10-15 min of idle waiting until a kind lady who happened to be standing next to me told me where to go. So after the employee gives you a lobster from the tank, you go to the seafood weighing area so they can weigh it and ask you whether you want it cooked, then they print you a receipt. The lobster stays with the employee. You take the receipt to the to-go section to finally pay for it. And then it's another 30 min wait! They need time to cook it, so in total you've wasted almost an hour here when you could've ordered lobster elsewhere... While I was waiting cluelessly at the weighing section (when I was supposed to be at the lobster tank section), random customers cut ahead of me and somehow the employees decided to help them first even though I was clearly there before them and needed guidance on how things work there. After the 30min cook wait, if you come back and forget your receipt in your car, the lady gives you an attitude but kindly brings you your food, then you can be on your way. 4 lb cooked lobster cost $79 Cheaper than restaurants. Find something better at a better place to bring to a potluck. read more

TL;DR: Beware of the employees at the seafood section, especially the Vietnamese one! He'll just shoo you away. There's also another Spanish-speaking one who'll refuse you to sell lobsters. Now, here is the more elaborate story. My aunt, who is Peruvian and speaks Spanish and English, and my uncle, who is Vietnamese and speaks Vietnamese and English, went to ABC Supermarket in Westminster, California, around 4 p.m. They had already picked up fish sauce, hoisin sauce, and sriracha, and my aunt decided to look at the seafood section while my uncle went to the restroom. At the seafood counter, my aunt saw several men working and noticed that they were helping a Vietnamese woman. The workers gave the woman two very large bags of lobsters and even carried them out to her car. My aunt thought the lobsters might be on sale, so she decided to ask how much they were per pound. She first approached one of the workers, a Vietnamese man, and politely asked about the price. Instead of answering, he waved his hand dismissively, as if telling her to go away. Confused, my aunt said, "Excuse me?" but he ignored her. Then another worker--possibly Hispanic, according to her--came over and asked if she needed help in English. When she asked him how much the lobsters cost, he replied, also in English, that he didn't want to sell any to her. Just then, my uncle returned from the restroom. He didn't realize what had just happened and urged her to finish up so they could leave. When they were paying for the sauces, my aunt told him what had happened. Naturally, he became upset and said he wanted to go back and confront the seafood workers. However, my aunt preferred to report the incident to the manager instead, so they went to the customer service counter, where she explained what had happened at the seafood section. The customer service representative, a Vietnamese woman who spoke with a noticeable accent, suggested that maybe the seafood workers hadn't understood my aunt and thought she was speaking Spanish. My aunt clarified that she had been speaking English the entire time--albeit with a heavy Spanish accent--just as she was doing at that moment. She added that her husband was Vietnamese and could have spoken to the workers in Vietnamese if needed. Upon hearing that her husband was Vietnamese, the customer service staff's attitudes appeared to change, and they seemed to take her more seriously. My uncle then took over and spoke to them in Vietnamese. They eventually told them that the manager wasn't available at that time. On their way home, my aunt called me to vent and ask for my help in writing a review and possibly speaking with the store manager. As I looked up ABC Supermarket's number, I found several negative reviews, including one that matched my aunt's experience almost exactly: "Unless you are Vietnamese and speak Vietnamese, I am sure you'll get mistreated by a Vietnamese guy at the Fish Clean Area. The woman repeated that we could call the next day. UPDATE: We called the next day, and we tried to get in touch with "Alberto" (the manager) four times. On all tries, the representative transferred us, but we could not really get through to him. On the first try, Alberto could not really hear us, and he hung up. When we called the second time, the person we talked to claimed that she can't really hear us. I repositioned myself for the third attempt. This time, the call would not just get cut off. For the fourth time, the call would get cut off again. The people who work behind the meat counter are rude. There is no line or order. It's whoever can get their attention first. They will blatantly ignore you. I confronted one of the meat counter guys for ignoring me knowing I was before the other customers. He just laughed at me. Unbelievably poor service here. The meat and seafood section are quite scary to walk through as they smell, but Idk any Asian grocery store with live seafood that doesn't smell...so...I guess it is ok? Customer service is non-existant. Vietnamese workers stand around talking and not helping customers. I went to buy four 2 lb lobsters. The men in the seafood section did not acknowlege me nor offer assistance after I was obviously looking to buy something in there area of the supermarket. Finally onean stopped conversing with the others and I asked to buy four 2 lb lobsters at $14.99 /lb. He kept repeating "no lobster" despite having 2 tanks with lobsters in them. I was confused so I showed him the tanks with the lobsters and he kept saying "no lobster, no lobster." There was obviously a communication problem. He kept insisting that there were no lobsters even though I pointed out the lobsters in the tanks, so I left without buying them. They missed put on $120 sale of live lobster because they couldn't be bothered to get them out of the tanks. Went on a Thursday to purchase some crabs, $11.99 per pound. The man who picks out the crab for you took a very long time to pick a couple crabs. The tank was filled to the rim with crabs so they must've just had a shipment of crab. However, he took a few minutes to dig around per crab. Once we got home and crab was ready to eat, big disappointment. He picked out the ones that didn't have any crab meat. The ones he picked were the ones that have been in the tank for too long. This review is for the house special crab, you order and pick your crab at the seafood spot, tell the worker you want to have them cook the crab, minimum of 4lbs, and then you go to the food to go spot and pay and let them know what flavor you want. You can have house special or salt and pepper. Definitely get the house special flavor. It's really good. You add addition $3 a lb to have them cook your crab or lobster. It's a lot cheaper than buying it at a Chinese restaurant. Would definitely order house special crab at ABC again. read more

I bought a live catfish at 4pm this afternoon. I asked for the smallest one possible. The fish counter showed me two fish and I said I would take the smallest one. I asked him to clean it. We have 5 people so we bought a lot of take out food from other deli and went into this ABC supermarket and bought 5 pounds live lobster paid almost $88 at the to go cashier and they charged $3 more per pound if cooked. The wrapping was not tight and it was undercook where water seeped through. The weather has been super cold here so there should have been no issue but for the fact that they failed to properly make and cook the prod it. Upon cutting it open, there was a smell. This five star review is for the crab. Crab on 1/4/2020 was priced at $5.99 a pound. Super huge and super fresh! The fams and I got 5 crabs. The BEST part of the whole experience is they cook it for you (for $2.50 a lbs)! NOT just regular schmegular steam. The cut, clean, and stir fry the crab in their special house sauce. It took about an hour so we headed to Fashion Island to make a quick return and headed back. We took the crabs home and demolished the entire thing. It was such an amazing dinner experience. We have 3 kids in tow and its hard to eat messy crabs at restaurants while also parenting. So taking it home and eating there was the BEST thing. Disclaimer: This supermarket is not in the best area. Lock your car. Parking is a B*tch. Asian drivers give 0 f*cks and will steal your parking that you are signaling for and maybe run you over if you're not paying attention. The area is crazy. Bought a filet mignon here in plastic wrapped and tried using it the next day, and it was rotten and stinky even though the color of the steak looked fresh. I tried calling the market for a refund and told them I threw away the receipt, and the steak was in my trash bin as it was unedible and told them I have the transactions on the card, but the market refused to refund me unless I have the receipt, with the rotten steak brought back to them to get replacement. I told them I can get the steak from the trash with the proof of purchase on my credit card, and plus, the steak has a label that shown located from the store and they refused to refund me!! Just recently spent some of my hard earned money in this store, just to get in return a box full blackened mangoes (all of the box) and some worms in my noodle bags. Again, I have been coming to ABC for years and years. This place gets bad reviews, but i like it here. Everything is cheap, especially with the inflation going on to where every other grocer is fleecing everyone out of their money. I stopped here last night to grab some fresh seafood i wanted to cook for my girl. The lobster is cheap here and the shrimp has good prices. Store even have a few American goods here to purchase. I bought some fresh cherries and bananas here. They just need to keep the fruit area clean. Kind of always dirty on that aisle with flies everywhere. l'll be honest, I really dislike coming into this area, but sometimes I gotta for family, ya know? We came over an hour or so before closing and on GOD it was the most absolute dog shit service ever. I was grinding FGO for the lottery, so I was lagging behind but my aunt was struggling to get the shopping cart out from being stuck with the other carts. Clear as day in Vietnamese, the dude goes, "If you act rude that way, how do you think you're gonna get help? It's so busy, do you think we can just drop everything for you?" BRO WHAT THE FUCK.
