We've stayed at Signal Mountain Lodge a number of times. Accommodations are good, and rooms clean. We've eaten at Trapper Grill probably a dozen times -- at least once each visit to the area. Good food, GREAT views. Nachos are worth the calories but are HUGE. Be forewarned, even the half order is enough for two unless you are REALLY hungry. Full order, better have several friends helping! Sadly, the last time we visited (July 2010) the service was rude (mostly the manager). It was a wonderful day, it was 2 pm and when we asked for an outside table (worth the wait BTW), we were told it would be at least 15 to 20 minutes, but they could seat us inside immediately. We said we'd wait. No one else was waiting for a table, as it was late-ish for lunch. That's when the hostess and then the manager copped an attitude, and though a table cleared in less than 5 minutes - we were made to wait the 20 minutes... The poor waitress kept apologizing for the situation. When we tried to pay our bill - you don't pay the waitress, sadly, the manager decided he needed to "ring out first". Another 5 to 10 minutes wasted, while he counted SLOWWWWLY. Enjoy the food, and the view but bring a bag load of patience! read more
