We recently went to Silhouette for a few projects as we were decorating our bedroom. We have a very ornate tapestry that we wanted to hang on the wall, and the folks at Silhouette did an excellent job of creating loops for attaching to a curtain rod. Also we got some fabric for a bedspread to match our furniture and they made a beautiful custom bedspread, which fits perfectly. Also, due to the width of the fabric they had to create a seam, however they matched the fabric design on both sides of the seam so perfectly that the seam is hardly noticeable. Clearly these folks are very experienced at this. I would highly recommend Silhouette for any custom fabric application. read more

This place is a hidden gem! It's in the same shopping plaza as walmart, so it's easy to miss. I brought in a bandage dress that was ripped at the seams after I allowed a friend to borrow it. I was prepared to throw it away, figuring it would be too expensive to fit. My bill? $6.....that's right! $6 to repair a dress ripped up to the thigh on both sides. I just dropped off my wedding dress at this tailor, after going to three others that told me they couldn't work with me due to time constraints (my wedding is in five weeks). When I walked in, I was immediately greeted kindly and I explained the situation. The woman I dealt with let me know (after pinning the dress) that she could have it ready in a week! She charged exponentially less than what I was quoted at the other three facilities, and made me feel at ease with everything (which means the most). She took the time to get to know me, and told me about herself as well. Great staff who are people pleasers. If I could give ten stars, I would. This seems like a reliable mom-and-Pop shop. On top of everything else, they're celebrating being open for TWENTY years. Congrats! read more

I've had many clothing items altered here. She's always very accommodating with any items that need quick alterations (she will ask "when do you need it?" and get it done). I usually bring in jeans/dresses that need to be hemmed. She consistently does a good job with these items. I even brought in my rehearsal dinner dress which I got at a very good price. I figured if I couldn't get someone to alter it, oh well. It fit very poorly before (huge in the waist and too tight on the bum) and she made it fit! was especially impressed because the dress was made of a delicate lace. I was very worried because letting out a dress made of lace is pretty risky, but it came back as perfect as it could be. I flew to Dallas for an important business meeting and surprise... my luggage was delayed! Having left with no choice but to buy a new business outfit that didn't quite fit right, I randomly came across Silhouette. Had a jacket mended here (the sleeve seams were falling apart). They did decent work, though some of it was a little crooked if you looked closely enough (a slanted line). Most people don't notice it. They were timely and fairly professional - kind of the gruff and no-fuss type. Not unlike the seamstress stereotype. Giving 3 stars mainly because the quality wasn't stellar, while the price was at a premium. read more

My experience was deplorable. Stupid me, I took in 4 pair of knit pants to be hemmed up because I wanted them to do it with a cover stitch machine which makes a flat double row of stitches like the original hem. They did use a C S machine but made a big distorted mess of the pants, pulling the hens off grain, causing big wrinkles in the hems. I took them back and they re-hemmed them, but they are still off grain and pull funny at the hem. Big $ later, I am out the cost of the pants and the cost of the alterations. I will never go back, they don't know what they are doing! read more

The service here is absolutely atrocious! I brought my wedding dress in to be altered, I had waited six months for it to come in, and at some point in the tailor's care it was seriously damaged. A considerable hole had developed near the bottom and a number of the jeweled accessories had been pulled loose. When I confronted her about the damages, she completely denied any wrongdoing and accused me of lying about the condition in which I had brought it to her! After a brief argument I told her I could not pay her for damaging the garment and she shooed me out of the store in a huff. Less than an hour later I received a phone call from the police, notifying me that unless I came back and paid in full they would issue a warrant for my arrest! We will be filing a lawsuit and getting this straightened out but would strongly advise anyone from taking your garments here! Absolutely horrendous experience with this store! read more

Excellent workmanship, and always on time; bit on the expensive side, but worth it. Brought in a jacket the needed fairly extensive alterations, and on pickup, it looked exactly as it should have, but none of the work was evident. It was as if I'd bought it looking like that. read more

I couldn't believe the amount they charge! Nothing exceptional. Wouldn't recommend them if you need something basic as a hem.

My bridal salon did the first 2 rounds of alterations, but the result was a sloppy and poor-fitting gown. Silhouette saved the day. Cinderella-status achieved! My strapless dress fits like a glove! The work was completed faster (and significantly cheaper) than the 'specialist' I originally used at the bridal boutique. I highly recommend Silhouette for any job big or small! We were in town for extremely important in our lives event - our son's medical school graduation. We didn't realize that it's going to be sort of upscale reception with tuxedo and evening gown dinner for the family at the end of the official ceremony. Desperately I was trying to find solution for this very pleasant, but extremely challenging problem and luckily I checked my YELP for nearby tailor shop and found SILHOUETTE - by far the friendliest and most professional tailor shop in my experience . Thanks so much fellow yelpers for leading me here. I found the perfect dress (so typical for woman) , but it was few sizes bigger than I needed. My husband bought a nice suite, which needed, of course, tailoring to make it look right. We were super hesitant to just go to any alteration place, when the timing was so short and critical, but when arrived, instantly we knew that we are in the good hands. There were a few people waiting to try things. The shop was not really big and apparently quite popular. The owner of the shop, Lora, took special care of our urgent needs and our garments were ready super, super fast! She even offered me a beautiful belt to accessorize my dress, that was pretty amazing. After all not only did I have perfectly altered dress, but also a gorgeous addition. I've been using this little tailor shop for many years. They do excellent work. It's tough to find a really good tailor, but this place is it. Always an exceptionally quality job and always on time. They are very friendly and nice. They do cost a premium, but you get what you pay for. When it comes to good tailoring, you don't to go cheep. I will not go back. I feel taken advantage of! I took a bridesmaid dress into Silhouette two weeks ago. It was a shot, gray lace dress and was too large in the waist and chest. The owner had me try the dress on and pinned the dress. She said the best way to tighten the dress would be to taper both side seams in the dress. I know very little about sewing, so I assumed she was correct and this was the best way to alter the dress. She quoted me $75. I came back a week later, tried on the dress and the chest was still too big. At first the owner said the dress looked great until I pointed out how big the chest was and how the breast cup stays were oddly shaped. She changed her opinion on the alterations then and agreed it looked too big and the cups should be rearranged. She said the dress would need to be taken in in the front of the dress. She told me it would be around $25. At this point the wedding was 4 days away and I felt like I didn't have enough time to take it anywhere else. I left the store and felt lied to about the original quote she made to alter the dress. When I returned to pick it up, I expressed my concerns and she became impatient and rude. I think they did a poor alteration job the first time around and when I pointed it out, I was punished by being charged again! In the end I spent $110 on the dress alterations. This is more than what I paid for the dress!! Worst of all, I feel taken advantage of and am upset over the poor customer service I received. read more
