ZERO stars based solely on the dishonest and unprofessionalism of Taylor aka "Bobbypins blush and blowouts." We booked Taylor and her wedding "team" over 9 months ago. After several attempts and failed communication, my fiancé and I finally got confirmation for a trial appointment. Not only did I have to arrange to take the day off of work, we were going to drive 2+ hours to get our trial hair and makeup done for our big wedding day. The night before we had not heard a single thing from Taylor. No address. No confirmation. Nothing. So, not wanting to drive 2 hours with gas prices and cost of goods being what they are, we reached out AGAIN only for her to not answer. An hour goes by and we are literally getting in the car to leave and Taylor texts us telling us that she's getting over a cold and needs to reschedule. Not cool. This isn't even the worst part. In this day and age and with Covid and all, people get sick. We get it. The absolute worst part was that she was posting all over Instagram, literally minutes later, how she was at church with her kids. Then at the beach with friends. And so on. Talk about UNPROFESSIONAL! So not only do you cancel as your clients are leaving to drive 2 hours to see you but you then lie about it. Not cool. We decided that it was best to not move forward with Taylor and her services for our wedding. We requested that our deposit be returned, since it was 4 months ago now, and she agreed. She then lied not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES about returning our deposit. We asked for a confirmation because she kept saying "I sent the payment" and she literally ghosted us. So, a bad review is not only due but earned. Taylor, shame on you. Do yourselves a favor and STAY AWAY. Not worth your time, money or effort. read more

I found this salon through Groupon, for a deal on a Brazilian Blowout, and now I'm hooked. What a wonderful experience! This salon is top-notch. Located right on the marina, this salon is brimming with beachy breeze (which is a big plus if you're getting any kind of coloring or chemical treatment!) and natural light. I also appreciated the relaxed, happy atmosphere. Kelly did my hair, and she was so kind, the two-hour Brazilian Blowout treatment went by in a flash. This salon really cares about your hair! Kelly took the time to make sure my bleach-ravaged mane was as smooth and strong as it could possibly be. She is truly an expert with years of experience. I've been to other salons for keratin treatments and Brazilians, but I can honestly say my hair has never been prettier and healthier than it is right now, a day after my appointment. A few notes: 1. My appointment was booked a week-and-a-half out. 2. Brazilian Blowouts aren't straightening treatments--they're strengthening treatments. 3. My hair dresser Kelly has been cutting my hair for about 4 years now and this time was the last straw . I have naturally strawberry blonde hair and wanted some copper highlights and a little red but when she was done with me my hair was like a red Hot Cheeto . I looked like bozo the clown. Manic panic !! This was the first time I have ever highlighted my hair and this experience was horrible. Then she tried to color correct it and added brown to the front. That was it for the night. I came back the next day to have her try to fix my hair and she bleached it and she added brown and she had it darker brown. It was so splotchy at the end I could've went to the store and did it myself. I was supposed to go back in Friday and have her do some copper highlights and all my friends told me don't go back so I went back and got my money back and I had to go somewhere else and have it color corrected and spent triple the amount..She lost three customers as me and my children go see her never again. I decided to go here after reading the other reviews on Yelp and it was not a let down. Today was the first time I have been to this salon and the first time I have cut my hair in over a year. Needless to say I was nervous and skeptical. I decided to book an appointment with Laura. I called and left a message for her on a Wednesday, hoping to get an appointment for Saturdays. Laura returned my call the next day and was available on Saturday. When I walked in I was greeted right away and offered a drink. The salon looked and had a clean feel. She was running a little late but I didn't mind because she texted me and gave me a heads up. I really appreciated her letting me know what was going on opposed to me just sitting there with no clue. Not to mention the beautiful location and salon made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Laura was super nice and skilled. She listened to what I was looking for, asked about my daily maintenance and what kind of up keep I was comfortable with. I was super nervous the first thirty seconds then Laura made me feel like I had been going to her forever. We chatted the whole time but it didn't feel forced. No awkward or fake vibes! She explained what she was doing every step and why, which made me feel confident in her. At the end she even told me different ways to style it, which I thought was above and beyond. I had an awesome experience this last weekend with Annie! Scheduling: I saw her Groupon deal for a Brazilian blowout. I had called two weeks or so prior to make an appointment. I know generally hairstylists can be booked for weeks so I wanted to make sure. I didn't receive a response but left a message with my info and was called back in the next day or so and booked an appointment. I love that this salon is open Saturdays! I work 8-5 and live in Goleta/SB so weekends are the ideal time for me. My hair story: For you curly girls out there, I have 3A/3B curls that frizz up like crazy unless I put massive amounts of mousse and leave in. I don't use sulfates or silicone products anymore and that has helped but I still get frizz living on the coast. I like wearing my hair natural but love an occasional blow dry or straight look. I have gotten 2 Brazilians and 2 keratin express treatments in the past 4 years. I love that the keratin smooths your hair but doesn't kill your curls. Pricing: Silhouettes has a fair price for the treatment comparable to my experiences in Orange County. I payed more for my keratin express treatment in Santa Barbara and it lasts for way less time! Heck no I'm not doing that again. Ask about the groupon deal! Experience and Outcome: Hair came out super smooth and soft as expected! Blow drying time is cut to less than half of what it used to. I just washed my hair today and I'm loving my softer curls. Annie was super friendly and sweet. I have crazy hair and it can be quite difficult to work with, but she was a champ. I am so frustrated and upset. I've recently moved to Oxnard and was in search for a new hair stylist. I stumbled on Silhouettes when I saw that they had a deal on groupon. I checked yelp and saw all the great reviews and wanted to give them a try. I was super excited to get my hair cut since its been almost a year since my last one. I bought the deal which by the way didn't say that I had to get my hair cut by a specific person, I read it multiple times t make sure so when I called to make the appointment I knew who to ask for. The first TWO times I called it went to voicemail, mind you I called during business hours on a Friday. I finally got through and talked to Kelly on my THIRD try, I mentioned the groupon deal and that I wanted to schedule with Laura since she had so many great reviews on yelp. Kelly told me that there are only two people participating in the groupon deal but she would pass the message along to Laura and have her give me a call, she took down my information and promised to pass along the note. A couple of hours later I called back (FORTH CALL) since I hadn't heard from anyone, I talked to another girl and she told me she will also pass the message along to Laura. The next thing I know I looked at the clock and its also closing time, I figured I'd give it one for try and see if I can schedule an appointment for the next day (FIFTH CALL)... no one answered the phone. I called the following day around 11am (SIXTH CALL), I talked to another girl and asked her who is participating in the groupon deal, she said Annie the owner was, I asked to talk to her so I could schedule an appointment. She said Annie was with a client and once again took my information down so that she could call me back. I waited another 2 hours and called back (SEVENTH CALL). I talked to Kelly again, she said that Annie is with a customer and Laura just left. She also said that Annie had texted Laura and asked her to call me an hour ago so I should get a call back any minute now. That was 5 hours ago, I'm going to assume I'm not getting a call back since they close at 6pm. When I was on the phone no body ever mentioned that they accept walk ins, if I would've known I would've just showed up and waited. But instead I waited by the phone for a phone call that never came. I expected more from a salon that had 5/5 star ratings. Instead I got bad customer service. Yes I bought my deal from groupon but I was looking for a good stylist to stay with for the long run. At this point I wouldn't go there, if I can't even get a call back what guarantees do I have of actually getting a hair cut. So at this point I cancelled my groupon deal and am continuing my search for a hair stylist. Thanks for ruining my Saturday Silhouettes by the Beach. Word of advice, if you say you're going to call a client back, you should do just that. I'm actually a really understanding person, I understand you get busy and forget and I was willing to let it go but by the 7th call enough is enough. read more

I had a great experience at Silhouettes Salon. I called to make an appointment and they were able to fit me in same day. I love their location (Ventura harbor), it was nice to be able to head to towards the water and relax a little while I got my hair done. Rebecca was my stylist and she made me feel totally comfortable and not rushed at all. I was worried that since my appointment was towards the end of the day I wouldn't get the time and attention that was needed but I was very wrong. After I was shampooed and conditioned Rebecca cut and styled my curly hair. While she was styling it she suggested she straighten it so she could do a dry cut on it just to make sure it was right. Due to prior traumatizing situations at hair salons, I had neglected doing anything with my hair for over 4 years. I finally worked up the courage to come in and I'm so happy I did! Laura was excellent! I really felt like she listened to what I wanted and she delivered!!! I have long hair and was scared of losing length but she did a FANTASTIC job of keeping my length and making my hair look and feel so much healthier. Laura has a great ear for understanding what you want and a speedy mind for recommending great alternative styles to benefit your lifestyle and comfort into a new transition of hair. Like many, I am booked throughout my days more so than not which means I have little time for daily upkeep and uncertainty as to when I am available to return for maintenance. Ironically, like many, my desired hair style was just that...high maintenance...or so I thought. She really took the time to listen to what i wanted to do with my hair and was thoughtful enough to ask how i styled my hair when i go out to determine the appropriate length of my layers. Pros: Cute boutique salon on the harbor. Lots of good stylists to chose from. Cons: SUPER hard to make an appointment. I called several times during their business hours and no one picked up. However, after using a Groupon for Cut & Color at Silhouttes, I think I finally found a place to get my hair done! Anne was my stylist and was awesome! My family and I went on vacation for Labor Day this past weekend, and my hair needed a cut; BADLY. So, I opened my phone and searched for the best and closest locations from yelp users and this place won my business. They were very courteous and helpful, seeing as I was from out-of-town, and they were able to book me rather quickly, giving me a price quote over the phone. Rebecca is who I ended up with, though the rest of ladies were super nice to me while I was waiting. They even had a coffee bar, which was a nice touch. I needed a color correction to blend my natural roots with my bleached ends, something that I have had done wrong for me in the past. Rebecca NAILED it. With the lowlights mixed in with new highlights, I looked and felt amazing. When I got back into work this morning, my neighbors in the next office didn't even recognize me at first! I had Annie, whom I found out is the owner, cut my hair. Gorgeous studio, and she was so nice. She worked me in pretty last minute considering the fact that this is a hair salon. She made me feel so relaxed and at ease immediately upon entering, and knew exactly how to cut my hair in a way that it looked so amazing, and would handle well no matter how styled. I've never really gone to an actual studio, but I've been dying to find a regular place I can visit, and this has definitely become the place. I have had two really good visits to Silhouettes with Rebecca. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about my color, and no nonsense about NOT doing something I would regret. She was also generous in giving me a long consultation before I decided to do something dramatic. I got a Keritin smoothing treatment, and it has made a dramatic positive difference in my hair. Rebecca included the shampoo and conditioner in the price of the treatment, which I appreciate. I had a Brazillian Blowout once before (somewhere else,) and that was also great, but the price tag, plus the extra $50 in add on hair products made me feel like I had been taken for a ride. Two words: Laura Martin! She is what all women want in a hair stylist. She is absolutely amazing!!!!!!
