I created an account to write a review for Silicon Valley Optometry Center. My two sons started to wear Ortho-K lens couple of months ago. I am very happy with the experiences I have. My special thanks will go to Ethan (I hope I spelled the name correctly), he taught/trained my sons how to put on/take off the contact. He uses his own experience, his teaching is very informative and detailed. Because of his teaching, my son has a very smooth experience with Ortho-K lens. Dr. Wun is very patient and dedicated, she helped my little boy to get the lens that fit. My family has been with Silicon Valley Optometry for 13 years now. Dr. Wun and Sue have always been professional and great to accommodate our needs. I have had several pairs of glasses from here, including my very first progressive when it was first available. The exam, measurement and adjustment have always been on the spot! My two kids had Otho-K for 13 years now. When they were young, lost and damage were common. Sue has been very quick to take care of replacement. Can I just say this place is AMAZING! I have never had glasses before & went here because I saw a friend reviewed this place not too long ago & it sounded cool. The receptionist (Angela, I think??) was so nice! And super helpful, like I said I've never had glasses before & of course had to try them all on to see which ones looked best on me not to mention I'm SUPER indecisive but she was very patient with me & didn't make me feel annoying at all although I'm sure I was. She gave me all these extra options & didn't mind that I had her calculate basically all the different type of options available to me since I'm super frugal too lol. Regardless, I found the glasses I wanted, for a decent price and fairly quick. I would defiantly recommend this place if you are looking for a new eye doctor or have never been to one. I've been a client of Silicon Valley Optometry for over 12 years, and they have excellent customer service and knowledgeable staff. Today they gave me a free lens plunger (they usually sell for $5!!), which made my day given $5 is more than half an hour of work for me at minimum wage. I've been seen by at least three of the doctors here over the past 12 years and they are all personable and competent. Of course the Ortho-K works too, and is really convenient since you don't have to worry about glasses or contacts in the daytime. read more

This place impressed me on my first visit with its excellent and comprehensive eye care and service. For my eye exam appointment, I had brought several glasses from other stores which didn't feel exactly quite right, and the receptionist was happy to not only take their lensometer measurements but also sorted and labeled the px measurements by brand, to help me distinguish between them. I thought Dr Yang was really outstanding in her knowledge, professionalism, and consideration. As much of my time is spent reading and on the computer, my visual acuity means a lot to me. She took the time to really diagnose the cause of my eyestrain, and answered my unending streams of questions, vision complaints, and worries in an articulate, direct, yet gentle and kind of humorous manner. I was walked through the thought process considering my future options, including an honest pros and cons on costs, implications, etc. Finally, she patiently took the time (way over an hour!!) to let me try out and select the powers for my lenses (to correct differing astigmatism with nearsightedness in my eyes), explaining that the refractor measurements were only estimations and giving me the flexibility to decide what gave me the clearest vision. I'm very happy with the level of expertise and care, and will definitely come back again!! read more

Be afraid, be very afraid of Lucy Wun of this location. She is extremely negligent, lacks proper knowledge and worst of all, provides incorrect prescription vision i.e. in my case, off the mark by 50% for my left eye twice !!! It's not clear to me how she obtains her questionable testimonials but should you decide to go with this optometrist, just make sure to keep good track of your records/evidence for your insurance provider, possible filing a complaint with the California Optometry Board and if necessary, taking her to court. Neglected my questions, makes you wait and fills you with empty promises especially when another customer is around. Very frustrating and disappointing experience. read more

I took my son here for over night contact lens fitting and overall, I was impressed how busy this place always seemed to be. Dr. Wun was overall a professional doctor that provides good service but that might be just at the beginning when we met her the first time. Every time after the first visit in her office, we seemed to spend long time waiting in a crowded office for the doctor that spent no more than 10 minutes checking my son's progress. There were some days that my son cannot see well enough during the visit but Dr. Wun would just passed it up and said, he seemed to be doing well and let's schedule for next visit. I am thankful for the service she provides, however, I am hoping that she wasn't so caught up in growing her business that sometimes she forgot the personal touch and providing the care her patients deserve. read more

0 stars for customer service by Sue, the receptionist and her warranty support. 3 Stars for their great optometrists. I bought a pair of frame-less Kelvin Klein glasses, and within a couple of weeks, the handle and attaching screw came completely out of the lens. The screw hole in the lens was clearly too large to hold the screw head from coming out. I took them back and Sue, the receptionist, reluctantly agreed to have their lab repair it while insisting the cause of the hole in the lens being too large was my fault! It took over a week to get the glasses back. This time, the added a soft plastic washer to keep the screw head from coming out of the lens. It looked ugly but seemed to do the job. I was able to wear the glasses for less than a week before the handle came out again, except this time it fell on the ground and the lens broke. When I called back for help, Sue told me I'm out of luck! By the way, the glasses never sat straight on my face the first time I pick them up, but Sue insisted the problem was with my nose. I have since had another optometrist replace my lenses using the same exact frame and have had absolutely no problems. read more

I had a scar on my cornea and I did not realize how bad it was yet Dr. Wun kept pushing me to wear hard contacts. Later I found find out (after going to a cornea specialist) that my scar was so bad that I should probably never wear hard contacts again (let alone regular contacts) because it would irritate my scar and that my scar was actually an extremely serious thing and that the continuation of wearing hard contacts could lead me to potentially needing a cornea transplant. read more

My whole family has been the customer to SV Optometry for more than 17 years. Sue is by far my favorite. Last week my computer glasses were nowhere to be found and I have to wear them for work. On Wednesday I went in during lunch hour to order a new pair. I told Sue to please make it an urgent order even if I need to pay extra. She patiently explained to me the steps necessary to make my glasses and promised that she will personally follow up with the labs. She was very friendly and helpful. Went for an eye exam without dialysis. Friendly place and assistant were helpful. Dr Wun spent a good amount of time checking my vision and explain my reading glasses is still good for working. She also common that only if I need to see extra well for fine objects then I can replace my current lenses. The front desk gave copies of my prescription. read more

We love the service at Silicon Valley Optometry, all staff member were very friendly and helpful. My daughter started Ortho-K at this place in Sept 2014. At the beginning of the session, when each time I got an inappropriate lens (eye pain and/or bad vision) and called the office about the problem and asked for an appointment for checkup, the front-desk staff Sue tried to evade questions from patients in a very rude and unprofessional way. She acted as a doctor and told me the lens were ok and I should not have bothered them. For one instance, she told me the pair of lens that are different in size(diameter) are ok. Finally we talked to Dr. Wun and it still took a lot of explanation for her to admit it's a mistake and exchanged one lens to the correct size. After 3-4 back and forth painful adjustments, finally my daughter got a pair of lens that fit her, but that's still testing lens. At the beginning of the session they said they would order a pair of formal lens from lab after the testing lens is stabilized - this sounds a common practice that the doctor has to follow, but when we finally got the fit, they said the testing lens is the same as the formal lens and there was no need to order us any new lens. I trusted everything they said at that time and my daughter is wearing this testing lens for over a year now. In September last year it's time for my daughter to get the annual renewal lens. They ordered a pair from lab and when the new lens arrived and my daughter wore it, she immediately noticed the difference, it's so tight. My daughter quickly started to complain about eye pain, and also she could not see as clearly as the old lens. I went to the office to tell them the problem, Sue said they had no idea why the new lens did not fit since it should be the same as the lens my daughter had been wearing. I asked whether it's possible the data they gave the lab was wrong. Sue said that's not possible and took back the new lens and asked me to come back 2 months later. She said there is no problem to wear the old lens even it's over a year (which we learned from another doctor was against practice), and after 2 months if the old lens still fits, they will order another pair of new lens. I trusted them again and waited in vain for another 2 months. After 2 months when we came back to see Dr Wun last December, she only did a checkup for my daughter and seemed to know nothing about why I came back and asked nothing. I had to tell her the problem of the new lens again and asked whether it's possible the data isn't correct. The doctor said nothing and just walked away with impatience. I went to the front desk and asked Sue to order a pair of new lens as she promised 2 months ago, she agreed. But the next day she broke the promise and refused to order a new pair. Till now another 2 months has passed, we have been to their office 7-8 times for the problem, but each time we only got the same distracting replies. Without any effort to correct their mistakes, they just asked us to take their data and transfer to another doctor. We tried a few doctors. Every other doctor we tried asked why we want to transfer and once they learned what happened, none of them would take the data from Dr. Wun, and they all suggested resolving the issue at Dr. Wun's office. If we want to be their patient, we have to start from scratch. Since most of the cost of Ortho-K is in the first year, we need to pay the initial fee of $1500 or so as new patient and my daughter can not wear any lens for several weeks. This is a great inconvenience for us. We told this to Dr. Wun's office and they just repeated again and again that other doctors should take their data and treat us as a transfer, which is a pure lie. So after paying $1600 (which Dr. Wun refused to give a penny back) and tolerating a few of their mistakes for over a year, all we got was one pair of testing lens that should not be worn any more. To us, the most unacceptable thing is, they refused to solve the problem caused by their own mistakes and have been trying to avoid their responsibilities with all kinds of excuses and even lies. Dr. Wun at one point admitted it's certainly possible the data is wrong, but she still refused to solve the issue. They did not even give us a single apology for all the problems caused. I cannot believe a normal doctor's office can act like this. read more
