Let's face it - check ups and especially eye check ups are kind of a hassle - but most of us do it because we need that prescription updated to get contacts and glasses but also.. we can't f around with our eye health. Everyone in here from the reception staff to the doctors are always super friendly and helpful. I recently switched my eye doctor to Dr. Salsabilian and she is soooo amazing and so pretty! She cares about her patients and if the staff is also a fan of the doctor / that says a lot. I have optical health included in my Kaiser plan but I come here to get my annual exam because I love it here -- it's also 3 min from my house - yes that helps but even if it was far- I'd drive there to see the smiling faces! I just moved to Sunnyvale and was looking for a place near me to get my eyes checked. I have pretty bad eyesight so I always check the reviews to make sure the location is good and I'll be taken care of well. Masks are required and they provide one if you don't have one. Making an appointment was easy--I just called and I filled out the forms online! The receptionists, technician, and the doctor were super nice and friendly. Everyone really listens well to you and explains everything kindly. The office itself is also really clean and organized. I went in for my eye exam and contact lens exam, and the process was super smooth. They made sure to go over my insurance with me and the different costs. I placed an order for new lenses and they gave me some of the trial ones to take care of me until the new ones arrived since I was running out. Dr. Mangat is also really great and walked me through the whole process during my appointment and really took her time with me. It's taken me four tries, but I have finally found my new, go to optometrist. Y'all, this office runs like a well oiled machine. I had a 1030 appointment, but was asked to come in at 10:15. I arrived a little bit earlier at 10:10, and they moved me through so quickly that I was in and out with dilated eyes at 11 sharp (considering I've spent over two hours in other offices, this was huge for me). I was seen by Dr. Chui, and I would definitely request her again. She was so professional and approachable, and extremely competent. Overall, from the time that I walked in the door to my departure it was a good experience. I've had so many other offices try to scam me into unnecessary checks and treatments, and Dr. Gold's office didn't feel pushy or scammy at all. I even got a discount on the contact fitting fee. They were extremely scrupulous with wiping everything down, and I felt very safe throughout the visit. If you're looking for a new optometrist, I highly recommend you check them out. read more

Very efficient, almost no waiting in their waiting area, on-time, very courteous, and they give you your FSA in your hand before you leave. That basically sums up how amazing Gary Gold is. Dr. Monica Nguyen has to be THE MOST fun and caring optometrist I had the pleasure of being seen by. She's full of joy while still maintaining her professionalism. Really didn't want to be writing this review but no one's hearing me out when I call, so here goes. tl;dr: I definitely would not recommend this optometrist office due to their poor operations, communication, and customer service. I came to this office to get my prescription updated on my glasses. The ETA for getting new lenses on my existing frames was 1-2 weeks. After 2 whole weeks, I get a call from the office, telling me that the lab's lenses "didn't pass the office's inspection" and that the new ones will take another 1-2 weeks. At first, I thought, "okay, perhaps this is a one off situation that they'll rectify ASAP." So, I wait the 2 weeks again (shouldn't you expedite this process for someone who has already been waiting for so long?) and JUST got another call that the lenses are "too small" this time and that it'll be another 1-2 weeks... It's been 4 weeks at this point and will likely be 6 weeks before I get another update. The existing frames I gave them to have my prescription lenses updated on were the only pair of glasses I had. I've been wearing only contacts for 4 weeks now. My eyes are irritated and dry. The way Gary Gold Optometry has handled this situation has been awful. When I call for updates or to ask for solutions, I'm met with unhelpful and patronizing remarks like "Oh that's so sad, I'm sorry to hear that." read more

My boyfriend and I really excited to come here to pick out a pair of glasses. The reviews and selection of glasses look amazing on photos. I'm already familiar with a few brands and not a lot of offices carry Matsuda, Oliver People, etc like they do, which is why we came here. We already know what we're looking for and wouldn't even need an optician. We came in and the front desk paged the back if they could take a walk-in and in the back, a person screamed "NO" with an agitated tone. I told the receptionist "We don't need an optician. We can pick out something ourselves" Then the front desk paged the back again "it's going to be for glasses only". In the back, not sure if it's the same person, again screamed "in the next 30 MINUTES?". So loud that everyone in the front can hear her. Honestly, at this point, if you were us in this situation, would you still want help from someone who hates you so much and that person has never even met you? We were pissed. We told them we're good don't bother and started to walk out the door. They probably could tell that we felt disrespected. The front desk receptionist insisted that she can check with the optician as we were walking out. We told her no and we left. My boyfriend usually gets his glasses at the Apple campus since he works there, but I told him to check this place out instead because they have a nice selection of glasses here. He didn't need an eye exam either. Just needed to use FSA before the end of the year. I'd never recommend any of my friends or coworkers to come here. I'd hate for anyone to feel so disrespected and insulted the way we did. Wish I could have recorded the whole thing. They're so rude and disrespectful. Felt like we were disgusting hobos or something for them to reject to help like that. Don't think we will come back or try again at all. We've never been treated like this at any medical offices! I worked in eye care too before I started working in tech. This is why people would rather shop for glasses online. I'd rather take a pair of cheap glasses over being treated like this. I've been going to this place since they were over at the old Towne & Country shopping Center, which is a long time ago, back in the late 80s or early 90s. The last two optometrists were the worst I have ever had there!!! Most recent, Dr. Shaw, that was horrible, rushed thru my exam, had no time for questions, and I felt she just talked down to me a lot. Not even sure about my new prescriptions that she wrote for me. We shall see how that goes. The absolute reason I still go to this place is Stacey who works on the floor. She is amazing at finding you just the right glasses. Thank goodness for Stacey. I've been going to Dr Gold & Associates for 3 years now and have to say Dr. Shilpi Ratra is amazing. She gets you in and out very quickly and gets straight to business. 3 years ago, I started getting blurry vision with being on the computer the entire time at work. I now own a couple of pairs of Chanel prescription reading glasses which I am very pleased with. The only con I have with this place is the variety in frame sizes; they do not carry a variety of larger framed reading glasses. I was told I could use the frames of sunglasses if I wanted to but I prefer not to. I originally picked Dr Gary Gold as I wanted to have a variety of designer glasses to choose from. Currently, I only see Fendi, Prada, & Chanel. Hopefully in the near future they'll have more brands and frame sizes to choose from! read more

Grace helped me get into Dr. Cai at Dr. Gary Gold's office and was very helpful. Grace helped me know how much to expect to pay for my appointment. Dr. Cai thoroughly inspected my eyes and explained what was going on. She diagnosed me as having Posterior Vitreous Detachment which is very common and for me has turned out to not be a major eye issue. She calmed my anxiety and let me know I wasn't going blind. Dr. Cai was patient and answered all my questions. My symptoms were floaters and lighting flashes on my right eye. Over a month later all my symptoms have greatly decreased and are no longer a problem for me just like Dr. Cai predicted. The whole staff from receptionist Grace, Robin who took my co-payment, Meshay head of clinic and Dr. Cai were professional, efficient and kind. I brought in two pairs of glasses for a senior friend of mine and Stacy was amazing and able to fix them both. The one pair had been sat upon and one of the temples was broken and she found a replacement. She also cleaned them up and adjusted them. They look so nice. I've found my new optometrist! This is an excellent practice with professional staff, top notch optometrists, and a huge selection of glasses with brands I actually want. - Quality: Excellent. I had my eyes checked by Dr. Stephanie Chui and she was fast, friendly, and thorough with my exam. I was in and out quickly with an updated prescription and - Service: The front staff is amazing and this is make or break for a patient facing practice. Appointments are easy to schedule over the phone with text message/email reminders. They take great care during Covid to check temperatures, survey people about their symptoms, and sanitize all equipment before and after use. In one instance where they ordered the wrong frames for me, they apologized profusely and quickly fixed the problem. - Selection: Huge selection of glasses. I only wear one brand that's niche and hard to find, Oliver Peoples, so it was a huge relief to find they have a full selection of OP eyeglasses and sunglasses. I've gotten 4 pairs so far with 4 more incoming. - Billing: Transparent, timely, and accurate. No shady practices and they ask before they perform a procedure that may not be covered by insurance. Short summary: DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. THEY DON'T DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS! Explanation: The staff here is in a race for who pisses you off first. The front desk lady behaves as if they are giving out glasses for free, full of attitude and unfriendliness. The other staff makes sure they disturb you every minute or two while you are trying frames, sometimes about your insurance, or about your prescription or reminding you to keep your mask the second you remove it to see your face in the mirror! They are still maintaining the extreme COVID restrictions like in 2020, it makes the buying experience so unpleasant and annoying. After being annoyed by every staff member in different ways, I immediately left the store, and found 3 other top-rates optometries who don't have any such restrictions and also have staff that you enjoy interacting with. By the way, if you ask this optometry to send you your own prescription, they wouldn't email you. They would upload it on their patient portal which you'd have to login and download. Also, it's not instant upload, they take their sweet time for uploading it which could take a day or two even. Every other optometry I have gone to simply emails you your prescription immediately, it is that simple! read more

Dr. Stephanie Chui is phenomenal! I woke up a few days ago experiencing what felt like pink eye and didn't know what to do. I gave Dr. Gold's office a call as they're right down the street from me and they were kind enough to squeeze me in straight away. The office is very efficiently run -- the front desk makes checking in very easy (and I appreciate the Covid screeners upon entry), the technician (Sienna) was very warm and pleasant and Dr. Chui was very gentle, knowledgeable and had a great bedside manner. Thankfully it wasn't pink eye but rather an allergy flare up and Dr. Chui was great at explaining everything in great detail. She put in a couple of drops to alleviate the itchiness/burning and sent me on my way to work. She was also kind enough to check in on me TWICE (once a few hours later and again the following morning) to see how I was doing and if the symptoms were getting any better. Very rarely do doctors ever follow up anymore, especially for instances as minor as this, but Dr. Chui definitely went the extra mile to make sure that I was okay and I definitely felt taken care of. Very happy that I chose this office and very thankful that they were able to squeeze me in with Dr. Chui. 5+ stars! read more

I am in "Being Neighborly - Sunnyvale" facebook group. Multiple people recommend this place. It is right at Sunnyvale downtown. Parking is behind so is very convenient. Inside is actually way bigger than I thought. They have multiple rooms to do eye exam and multiple stations so even myself and another family member go together， we can do it at the same time. I had Dr Stephanie Chui for eye exam. She was very nice. She was patient when I explained to her what kind of glasses I need. I had Lu helped me out on glasses. I always lost glasses so I want to choose something more "budget friendly". Lu was awesome. She helped me pick something within my budget and explained to me what kind of options on the lens then give me break down cost on all different options. Well I end up got a pair of computer glasses and daily glasses. My glasses was ready in a week. When I went back to pick up, Lu was there to help me adjust it to make it perfectly fit. They were super welcoming and the representative who fixed my glasses replaced my plastic nose pads with silicone ones and they felt better on my nose than the old ones. Check in with the receptionist, wait for the technician to work you through some of the equipment, then on to one of the exam rooms to wait for the doctor. We started coming here a little over a year ago because our original optometrist was too far from our home. GGA has a very extensive line of frames; one of them is sure to meet your style needs and budget. I was pleasantly surprised by the great value of my Nautica frames. They didn't order my glasses because they forgot a 30 dollar charge. Over charged me 20 dollars for retina scan, they didn't notice that. I bought my first ever pair of glasses here, as well as my first ever pair of contacts! Dr. Froumis is a very friendly and detailed-oriented person, and always lets me know what's going on w/ my eyes. I appreciate his demeanor, his attention to detail, and his understanding of what I need. In regards to the rest of the staff, they've been awesome as well! So I managed to lose my only pair of glasses (without which I'm pretty nearsighted) this past Sunday, and I hadn't found a new optometrist after moving to the Bay Area three years ago. Nice going, Anson. So Monday I was frantically calling around trying to schedule an exam asap. I found Dr Gold's and they were able to squeeze me in the next day! The staff at Dr Gold's is very friendly and professional. They have some cool technology that I haven't seen before, like a machine that shows an image of a hot air balloon gradually coming into focus, which measures when your eyes become focused. The machines were pretty fun, except the eye puffer machine. I hate that thing. Anyway, I got assigned to Dr Jen. She was very patient and took the time to answer my questions and explain my Optomap scan in detail. The optometrist Chuck was pretty helpful too and didn't try to upsell me on features I didn't need. All the frames on display seem pretty pricey, but Chuck had a drawer of less expensive frames and I found one to my liking, so I was able to stay within the VSP $120 limit for frames. Since I needed new glasses pronto, Chuck put in a rush order and they just came in today: a 2-day turnaround! I'm glad I found Dr Gold's. The service is unbeatable. They also put technology to good use (which maybe isn't surprising, it being the Silicon Valley and all) - the computers are all networked so they can access patient data from every room in the building, they emailed me my Optomap scan, and they send annual checkup reminders by email for those who are averse to snail mail. read more

I have been going to them for the last 3 years and they have been very professional, quick, easy to talk to and helpful every time. They have a very warm and caring outlook towards their clients and I love that approach. I visited them again recently during covid and was a bit concerned in general at first. But the protocol and cleanliness they followed made be feel right at home . Highly recommend them. The doctors are great. The staff is super helpful. They are patient, answer all your questions, the prescriptions are spot on and they give you plenty time to learn new stuff (I was patiently taught how to put on and remove lenses among other things). If something needs to be followed up with, they are very prompt with it as well. They have a huge collection of glasses and lenses with a wide price range to fit ones need. This review is for Dr. Connie Chen. Absolutely the worst optometrist I have seen. Went to Gary Gold's for my 4 year old son, who says he is seeing floaters. So I was booked a medical appointment and not a routing eye check (since he had already had his routine eye exam at his Pediatrist). Now, when a Doctor accepts to see a young kid, one thing you would expect as a parent is that the Doctor displays atleast an average amount of patience and would not speak harshly to your kid and scare him. Dr. Chen showed zero-patience. When my son's eyes had to be dilated, she administered the eye drop into one of his eyes and didn't even give him couple of seconds to get ready to be able to open his other eye for the drop. She was fuming when he resisted, forced open his other eye and administered the dilator. We waited for a good 20-25 minutes before she came back into the examination room. When she was back and ready to examine his eyes, she was back to her impatient self. She must understand that a 4 year old cannot understand and follow instructions to look in one direction and immediately shift to looking in some other direction as instructed. Let alone telling a "left" from a "right". She lost her cool and snapped at us that, if my son doesnot cooperate we will have to go some other place where they can tie him up and put him under anesthesia in order to examine his eyes. At this point, I had to step in and take the lead and help my son not get scared and look at imaginary vehicles (that he loves) by waving my hands and pointing to different directions, so the Dr. could examine him. At the end of the appointment, we are still clueless about why he is seeing dark floaters. In addition, still recovering from our visit to a Dr. who is ready to snap at the drop of a hat and absolutely not trained/ experienced in working with young kids. Both times I've been in Dr. Gold's office they've been ultra friendly, very detail oriented on both the eye exam and the fittings and helping me with picking frames out.
