I moved to Cali over 20 years ago and miss New England Chinese food. So whenever I visit I always hit the Chinese food places. My family raves about this place and have been coming here for years! I've been three times so far and love it. It's very small and basically do most of thier business via takeout. I always order the same thing along with the mini potstickers. The teriyaki sticks are the best in town! The rice is to die for as well. The Lobster sauce is really good too! The young lady that always helps me is sooo nice. This used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant in the metrowest area. It was phenomenal! I was particularly fond of the authentic Szechuan dishes, such as the Honey Crunch Fish, Twice Cooked Pork, Braised 5-Spice Pork, Spicy Boiled Fish, etc. Unfortunately, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the chef-owned business changed hands and those amazing dishes are no longer offered. My view of the current establishment may be tainted by my mourning for the wonderful restaurant this used to be. Now, it is a perfectly decent takeout restaurant, but does little to standout from so many run of the mill Americanized Chinese restaurants. The quaint and homey dining room has gone downhill, and it is no longer somewhere I would "dine-in" as the room is mostly used for preparing takeout orders. The lunch special I tried recently had only 4 shrimp, but a really nice mix of fresh vegetables in the sauce, including yellow squash, zucchini, carrot, onion, bell pepper, snow peas, and broccoli. This is our go to Chinese restaurant! We enjoy the food and the staff are really nice. Not a whole lot of space to sit and eat, but we always get it to go. The pork fried rice and General Tso's are our go to, so highly recommend both! read more

We got takeout from Silk Road for the first time tonight. We've never been to Silk Road before so I can't comment on the decor. Our order was completed quickly and accurately. The delivery bag was also packed neatly and survived the 4 mile journey. We tried egg rolls, crab rangoons, pork fried rice, pork egg foo young, chicken with black bean sauce and Mongolian beef. Crab Rangoons were excellent and the Mongolian beef was tender and had a nice kick to it. The egg foo young, pork fried rice and chicken with black bean sauce were missing flavor. I typically use Grubhub, doordash, etc....but today decided to not give those companies my $$$ and I ordered directly from Silk Road Bistro. Their food is slightly above average for the Marlborough area. The sesame chicken and chicken wings are on point, but their hot and sour soup is not good. I have specific meals which I'll order from this place. The website didn't save the tip amount on my order. I'm well aware this was user error. However, it did capture my note that said to drop off the food at the side door and text me. Due to not capturing the tip which I joriced after I checked out, I grabbed some cash to give to them for when they arrive. I get a call from the business owner about how I didn't enter a tip and because of my note the driver notified them that the tip wasn't there. He said they complained to him about it. He then proceeded to tell me that with gas prices the way it is and with people driving 6-cynlinder cars, that it's very expensive to them and he can only cover so much of the cost. That this is how these folks live, etc. He basically implied that he wasn't going to deliver my order until I verbally told him that I would be tipping. Maybe consider waiting to see what happened with my order instead of calling me ahead of time. I tipped the guy $6 for driving less than a mile.... but I'll never be ordering from your place of establishment again. read more

I'm not sure if it was just an off night, but I ordered dinner for my Mother and I and the quality of the food just wasn't good. I ordered the shrimp with Chinese vegetables and my Mom got the beef lo mein. The beef was tough and my dish was mostly veggies with only a couple of shrimp. The only redeeming part of the meal were the chicken fingers which were nice and crispy. I won't be in a hurry to order food from Silk Road again anytime soon. read more

This is my first visit since the pandemic hit, and it is under new management. Well I'm glad to say it's still great as always. I ordered online, which is new, and it was super easy and convenient. The food was cooked to perfection, and was very fresh and very well prepared. One thing I did notice was different is the menu. Under the old management they had a lunch special with chicken and broccoli that came with rice and a side all included. I had to order my side separately, and also I wasn't aware that my chicken and broccoli didn't come with rice. It was just chicken and broccoli. The owner noticed and offered me a complimentary small white rice which was very nice of him. In all this cost me about $18. If I had ordered the white rice like I should've it would've been about $20. The portions were big and can easily feed 2. So you're looking at about $10 a meal which is very well priced. You could probably find a similar meal for cheaper nearby, but when it comes to Chinese food, you either pay for portion, or food quality. This place pretty much has both. Occasionally I feel sick after having Chinese food, but after eating this, I still feel fine. Really great food with good service. I can't wait to go back and try out other meals. I definitely miss the old owner, but the new guy and his team seem to be just as good. I look forward to coming back to dine in one day (I think they are closed now for dine in) once this pandemic is over. read more

First off, we wouldn't have found this place If our go to Chinese delivery place hadn't closed. Also, the fact that they are in Marborough and they deliver to Hudson Was a huge bonus. However it's much easier for us, and quicker, to just go to pick up. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable, always likes to chat for a bit and tell about cooking the food And tips for eating the food. We Have enjoyed every meal we have gotten here. Since he cooks everything to order, you can modify the spiciness and other items when you comment in your order. The best part about ordering online and paying ahead of time is that you can go to the back door of the restaurant and he will bring the food out to you. He asked that you please pay ahead of time to make this easier for everyone involved. We have done this multiple times and it works without a hitch, and we don't have to try and park on Main Street in front of other businesses. Delicious absolutely delicious! Got Silk Road on door dash last night and it was amazing, the food came super quickly too which was amazing! I ordered the beef udon and it was so flavorful and saucy! The Mongolian beef was tender and super flavorful, not to spicy if you worried about spice don't be! I also ordered the make your own appetizer and got the crab rangoons, chicken wings, chicken fingers, and beef in a stick! The beef was tender and juicy which was amazing because I feel like sometimes it's dry at other places, the wings were crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside, perfect! Fancier Chinese than I was expecting and I really only popped in for a to go lunch order. At 1:30 in the afternoon, I had low expectations but those were exceeded. I chose the General Tso's Chicken and got a very good portion of crispy battered chicken with maybe too much sauce on it. Scrape, scrape, but it was good. The fried rice was fresh and not dried out at all. Good flavor and lots of egg and peas and other veggies in there. But the highlight of the meal was the side of pork spare ribs. These were amazing. Relatively new from my understanding and a family owned and run restaurant - a place you want to see do well because of the care the out into the food and the people they are. It was ok, but not what we expected. The wonton soup was super strange with whole pieces of broccoli and squash in it. And the chicken in garlic sauce had all kinds of weird vegetables in it besides the typical Chinese ones you'd expect. It wasn't very spicy either. No hot peppers in it at all. Just tons of squash, zucchini,bell peppers and carrots. Too bland. Pork fried rice was fine, but the pork was cooked in some kind of a sweet sauce. They also gave us those little skinny noodles instead of the large flat ones that are good for dipping in the duck sauce and hot mustard. The egg rolls we're spot on. Found this place randomly on Yelp and gave it a try on a weekday for dinner. Their fish fillets with Napa cabbage is excellent, so flavourful and delicious. The portion is huge but it's not served with rice, so you will have to order rice separately. Their veggie fried rice was also good and complimented perfectly with the fish. The only reason I am giving a 4 star is for their chicken fingers which was ok, no flavor, it was very bland, regretted ordering. Apart from that, anytime I get a craving for Chinese food and fish this restaurant is on top of my list! read more

if I could leave less than one star I would. the service was horrendous upon arrival. I came here for my nieces birthday dinner after going to apex in the area. as soon as we walked in we got no greeting. we walked up to a very rude woman and asked for a table. she took a minute of being silent to think before saying "uhhhh takeout only". mind you the menu and several signs they have posted advertised their dine in service. she simply didn't want to serve us. when we told her how wrong she was she back tracked and said here come sit. absolutely not. it shouldn't take calling out discrimination to be sat. many people in my family that were with me come from the service industry and or work in restaurants. we enjoy trying and supporting local businesses, and we tip 20% everywhere we go just out of respect for the industry. we all work hard, and make decent money so I'm honestly offended by her behavior. racism in 2024 is disgusting. Let me start out saying I have reached out to this business prior to writing this review, it's been a week and they have not responded. I wanted to love them. The reviews were promising. My delivery time was set after ordering online for 45 mins. Unknown to me the order was being delivered 15 mins early. I was doing laundry when they tried to call me. At the delivery time I grabbed my phone and headed to the door to meet the delivery driver, and I saw several texts and a few phone calls from the driver. Because they were delivering early I had missed them. I called and they asked the driver to come back, which she did, but I wish she hadn't. She screamed at me for making her wait and then angrily thrust my food at me. I was so taken aback, I'm friendly and kind. The food was mediocre, the heat in the spicy dish tasted like hot mustard not chili pepper heat. I cook a bit and I know the difference. It was ok. And I honestly would not write a review for just mediocre food, we all have "off" days. Now because the delivery experience was so hostile, I lost my appetite and I threw away $27 worth of food and I'd already tipped on the app, next time I'll wait. I really wanted to like them. Complimentary iced water was given. We shared all dishes family style: - 3.5/5: The beef soup and the seafood soup were good. The tea and white rice were standard. - 4/5: The sweet and sour pork slices served with broccoli were flavorful and tender. The spicy beef slices were tender with a slight heat. On the basis of food quality, I believe SRB to be the best Chinese restaurant in Metrowest. The dedication to quality is self-evident in the food, which is prepared in a precisely consistent fashion. Personal faves include the wonton soup, salt & pepper shrimp, kung pao tofu and chinese greens. There are many other strong contenders but those items qualify for the short list. Be prepared for a menu that is more compact than your standard Chinese eatery. They have fewer items than one may be accustomed to seeing, but there is enough variety to keep things interesting. Admittedly, after returning over two dozen times now we find just going to the items on the short list to be increasingly expedient, but...it's good to know there are options even if we still always order the same thing. read more

Fantastic Sichuan place , a real gem in Marlborough. This town has from long required a nice Chinese restaurant and I am so glad Silk Road bistro opened up ! I have been here a couple of times and also once with my parents who were eating Sichuan for the first time. The owner made an extra effort to take our needs to consideration and made sure we got what we want. My parents fell in love with the scallion pancakes. UPDATE: I gave this place a great review after eating here a few times; I was very excited about this restaurant and thought I found my new go to for Chinese ... well we just went there again and it was SO DIFFERENT and not in a good way! Ordered some of the same things I had ordered before, Mongolian beef, Crab Rangoon and chicken wings. The Rangoon and chicken wings tasted like they were frozen not homemade. Rangoon were like cardboard although the filling was pretty tasty, wings were similar to Banquet frozen but a little meatier and I very seriously have my doubts that what I was eating was beef! It was nothing like the Mongolian beef they made for me before. This "beef" was rubbery and almost slime-like. We are both feeling nauseous and wish we could just purge! Best Chinese takeout that I have ever had. High end food for a reasonable price. I always order an egg roll and initially judge the quality of a Chinese restaurant by that. Most are all the same with an indistinguishable amalgam of wimpy vegetables and barely recognizable meat. At Silk Road the egg rolls were excellent, apparently homemade, with supple balance of fresh perfectly prepared and cooked vegetables and meat - fried perfectly. The best that I have had anywhere in the USA or marlborough. We also had mooshi pork. This too was perfectly balanced, with extraordinarily fresh vegetables and an ample assortment of high end fresh mushroom types, and just the right amount of pork. Five for freshness, flavor and friendliness alone!! Not a drop of oil was found in, on or around my fried food. A detail many Chinese restaurants let happen that disgusts me. Shrimp lo mein is hot and plentiful. TONS of shrimp. The crab Rangoon pouches are light pouches packed with the usual crabby cream cheese flavor but these have a hint of sweetness. I suspect units from the cream cheese/crab being fresh. The chicken wings are ever so slightly battered, very crispy as promised and the meat is flavorful. If they sold the wings in a bucket, I'd bring them home and serve them as my own during playoffs. Can't wait to try some more of their food!! read more
