I am very grateful for Dr. Silk's experience and expertise in his diagnosis, treatment and correction of my vision. I first developed a need for eyeglasses in 2010. Between 2010 and 2017, my eyesight was fairly stable, only requiring slight Rx changes. In 2017, my eyesight started to rapidly deteriorate. Even after seeing a local ophthalmologist and receiving a new Rx, my eyesight was deteriorating. I had been previously diagnosed with Keratoconus and have heard of people with this condition becoming blind. I was very concerned that I might be going blind. After searching for eye doctors with experience in Keratoconus and surgical treatments, I found Dr. Silk. He had been involved in the clinical trials for the procedures that were required to treat my worsening eye condition. Dr. Silk re-diagnosed my condition as Pellucid Marginal Disease, a close cousin to Keratoconus and recommended both INTACS and Cross Linking procedures. After researching the new diagnosis and proposed treatments, Dr. Silk proved to be the only doctor on the East Coast trained and capable to perform both procedures. No one was able to perform the INTACS procedure in Richmond and I felt that it was too risky to have two different doctors perform the procedures separately. Dr. Silk and his staff have been very thorough in the testing, diagnosis and treatment of my eye condition. Dr. Silk has been very kind and patient throughout every step and procedure, carefully explaining each step along the way. Dr. Silk was attentive to all of my questions and concerns, even making himself available for after hours concerns regarding possible complications. My eyesight is steadily improving. I have had to have my Rx changed twice already because of the INTACS procedure; the cornea is steadily becoming flatter as expected and my eyesight is continuing to improve. My latest Rx was even less expensive due to the thinner lens that was needed. I highly respect and recommend Dr. Silk for any eye problems that may arise. Earlier this year I had cataract surgery to both eyes. I knew for some time that I had cataract and my optometrist, Dr. Amy Laskar, suggested that it was time to have them removed. I was recommended to Dr. Silk after a routine eye exam turned up the need for a cataract surgeon to examine my eyes . After meeting and consulting with Dr.Silk, I setup an appointment for Cataract Surgery over the next few weeks, one eye at a time. After having the surgery in both eyes, one at a time, and allowing the recommended time for the surgery to heal, I returned to my Optometrist to continue the examination and get a prescription for eyeglasses. The glasses I got were bifocals , necessary for the work I do, although I could have opted for more advanced surgery that would not require bifocalS afterward... Dr. Silk and his staff were awesome! My mom is 88 years old having heart issues and had cataracts on both eyes. The right eye cataract was dense and complicated, so initially Dr Silk referred her to a University team of Eye Surgeons. We couldn't take my mom for multiple long drives and said we would look for some other Doctor in the area. Dr Silk called me the next day and said that he would do the cataract surgery for my mom. Several years ago, I developed a corneal ulcer and obtained Dr. Silk's info from the Fair Oaks Emergency Department. I was able to make a next day appointment and Dr. Silk was absolutely wonderful to me and treated me with compassion, professionalism and patience. I was in severe pain and was terrified of what was going on with my eye. He explained everything he was doing as he examined my eye and calmed me down (I was in tears because of the pain). Dr. Silk's excellent care and medication cleared up my ulcer and later when I had trouble with dry eyes during sleep, he told me to use an over the counter ointment which I have used every night and I have had no trouble since. My experiences with Silk Vision won my loyalty. The doctors are profession yet warm to my concerns and needs. The staff is very serene which is indicative of a well run organization. When I had (what I thought was) an eye emergency I called the office (I woke up with the white of my eye completely blood red!y) the staff had me come into the office immediately. I had very minimal waiting time in the waiting room and the doctor was very compassionate and explained I was in no danger and that the "red" would dissipate. Dr Silk performed cataract surgery on my right eye on 8 - 3 - 23 at Fairfax Hospital. Surgery started about 9:30a & I was released around noon. The surgery was successful & didn't experience any pain, swelling, dryeye, or other complications. Had two follow-up visits & tests showed my vision restored to almost 20/20. Dr Silk & his staff were very caring & concerned & the whole experience was positive. After seeing multiple eye doctors, ophthalmologists, no one provided the correct diagnosis. I went to Silk Vision in 2018 and 2019. I was suffering terribly from dry eye syndrome and I also had a tare on both membranes over the eyes. Dr. Silk treated the dry eye and then ultimately performed minor procedures on the eyes, one in 2018 and the other in 2019. I am pleased to let you know that I no longer suffer from dry eye syndrome, and both of the membranes are healed and no more suffering. I was referred to Dr. Silk when I scratched the cornea of one of my eyes so severely with a contact lens, that I lost my vision in that eye. Dr. Silk immediately put me on a combination of medications, and within a couple of weeks, I was nearly back to normal (still healing). Dr. Rajoub is outstanding. Eight days after my surgery, a friend said, "your surgeon, whoever that is, is a true artist." I agree. No more droopy eyelids and no more bags under my eyes.
