Tony not only worked around all of our other contractors schedule but did all the work in such a high quality manor. Neither the subfloor leveling nor the installation was done correctly, based on what the dealer and manufacturer told us -- and that's what led to the problems that followed: the floor is uneven and flexes up and down in multiple spots. We sent video and photos to the dealer and the flooring manufacturer, and both told us the work was not done properly. We paid a premium price of $5.30/sq ft for the flooring itself. We also ended up paying Igor two times his initial quote. He told us the subfloor needed more work than originally expected, and he raised the price for the flooring installation as well. Unfortunately, we trusted him and paid the full amount. To try to fix the flexing, Igor had to drill into the brand new floor and inject glue underneath to address the installation issues. We contacted the manufacturer, who informed us that if the floor was not installed according to specifications -- and drilling holes into a new floor is definitely not -- the warranty is voided. Igor initially agreed to come fix the remaining issues, but never showed up. While on site, he saw other work happening in the house that had nothing to do with him. When we followed up asking him to fix his own work, he "threatened" us with the following His messages: ----"I intend to contact the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection today to request an inspection of the work completed in the kitchen and bathrooms. The purpose of this inspection is to officially verify the permit status, determine whether the completed work complies with applicable building requirements" ---- "My question is whether you would like all the inspectors to come and document the current condition, or whether you would prefer for us to work together and resolve all the issues directly, without involving additional inspectors." ---- "Please let me know whether you would prefer to resolve these issues directly between ourselves or proceed with all inspections. If I do not receive your response, I will submit the DBI inspection request tomorrow." Summary: Not only he did an unprofessional work he brought up that other, unrelated work in our house and said he'd report it to DBI if we didn't resolve things directly with him. I continued my yelp research and found JOSEPH from New Gen Floors. Seriously, it was like winning the lottery. I get it, with 15+ years of student tenant wear and tear, this was not going to be an easy job in the slightest. However, Long, to his credit, did not try and take me or my mother for a ride for his own financial gain. Not only did his quote come in the lowest of all of them, he was also able to start the soonest. He finished in exactly the amount of time he quoted and made these extremely beaten up floors look brand new. His restoration work made all the difference when we put the house back on the rental market. We were able to attract a whole category of kind of tenant. Fingers crossed, the much less destructive kind. We have since asked him back to lay down vinyl flooring and he did an impeccable job. Will gladly call him again for all future work we need. He does excellent work, is great at communicating, and an all around lovely guy!
