Second act? Second smile! After more than thirty years of happily working in the field that I chose as a young man, I've begun to look forward to beginning a new career, and for the first time in my life having a flawless smile is something that will mean everything while I begin starting and building new relationships. Over the years, I never gave much thought to the state of my smile and as far as I knew, nobody else much cared either. I knew my teeth weren't straight, but they were all there, they were all trouble-free, and I was content to leave them at that. Then a year and a half ago, I'm watching TV and one of my front teeth came loose and fell completely out leaving a hole in my smile that was impossible to miss. The new silent, sympathetic looks on the faces of people who were familiar with my appearance (but not the new hole in my smile) were unmistakable and I quickly realized just how done I was just done with the whole situation. I determined then and there that I wasn't about to go through the rest of my life looking like a Halloween pumpkin! I first went to my regular dentist who said making an implant to fill the hole wouldn't be a problem, but the results might not be all I hoped for due to my inherent misalignment problems. Several years earlier, when our family dentist told my wife and I that our son was experiencing orthodontic troubles of his own, we didn't think twice about finding a quality orthodontist for him. The doctor we chose was Dr. Silva in Burbank who as it turned out was already working with many children in my son's school with great success. My son had a great rapport with Dr. Silva and on the strength of that, I called Dr. Silva's office and scheduled an appointment to have her give me a complete evaluation of my dental situation. Several days later, after completing a full study of what was possible movement-wise with my jaw, teeth and gums Dr. Silva had me come back to discuss what was reasonable and possible. In her office, she used a full motion computer model to demonstrate how my teeth could move in stages. Some teeth would move to make way for others that in turn would move in their own way to their correct positions further along in the treatment plan. I was very impressed with what I saw and made up my mind to put this modern technology to work for me. Fast-forward almost two years. I'm done! Well, there is a follow up appointment in six months to check for any evidence of tooth drifting, but the treatment plan is complete and my teeth have moved into their natural positions precisely as Dr. Silva's computer modeling said they would and now I have a smile that has become not only a major personal but a professional asset as well. I don't want to leave and get on with my busy day. Here's my story: I needed my fangs fixed and my front two teeth - that had decided to get pushed back after serveral decades of use, lol! I also decided to get my lower teeth straighten, since they were a little crooked and thought they would be more noticeable once the upper teeth were straightened. She fixed everything in only about nine months! She even fixed my bite, which I didn't even know needed fixing, until one day I noticed, after using the rubber bands awhile as instructed, I felt like I had real "choppers"! I got me teeth cleaned and whitened and they look perfect. I feel like I'm styling now. I'm now taking selfies -with big fat smiles! The doctor worked her magic craft and met my target of having the braces off just in time for my friend's nephew's wedding in Dallas! I have a lot of crowns that she also masterfully worked with and met my timeline. I wanted the faster results, so that ended up being the metal braces, which I wasn't too self conscious of wearing since they were small. Wow! I highly recommend Dr. Silva! In a nutshell: The office was clean, bright, tastefully decorated. All the employees were kind, knowledgeable, and friendly. Dr. Silva was lovely. She listened to my problem, my ideas, my questions and concerns. And then she gave me her honest professional opinion about how to solve my problem. She even searched for a product for me to purchase on Amazon instead of in her office since it would be cheaper on Amazon. The Longer version: During "Safer at Home" my retainer split and my regular dentist was not open. I called Silva Orthodontics hoping they might be open. I got a very helpful, friendly receptionist to whom I explained I was NOT a patient but needed someone to help me with my broken tray. She said the office would be opening the next week and she would see what she could do. She called back within a day and said they could arrange to see me the following week. When I walked in, they had safety protocols in place; took my temp, had hand sanitizer, asked all the appropriate questions and then let me come to the counter. Everyone was so friendly! I expected a quick consult to see if my trays could be made of stronger material or if it was just the shape of my teeth. It was anything but rushed. The lovely technician walked me to the back explaining everything she was going to do. I got x-rays from a state of the art machine that talks to you. The easiest x-rays I've ever had! Dr. Silva is truly amazing. She is very focused. She uses all sorts of techniques to get the teeth where they need to be and ensures that they stay there. She got my teeth ready for orthognactic (jaw) surgery well ahead of schedule. The surgeon was extremely happy with the fit after the surgery. Post operation, I only had to wear my braces for a few months and I was finished! It's been a year now and my teeth still fit perfectly in the retainers. . I absolutely love Dr. Silva almost as much as I love my results with adult braces. I came in never having worn braces before wanting to correct an overbite. I also had very bad jaw pain from TMJ. I am so happy that we found Dr Silva when were searching for an orthodontist for our kids. We have three (yes three!) kids in braces. Dr Silva has been professional, kind and patient. There was never any pressure from her to get them all in braces right away, although we've known for years that they would all need them, based on two dentists evaluations and referrals. We waited until one was paid off before we put the other two in braces. Dr Silva helped us determine a good timeline and what was best for each child. Any time my kids have broke a bracket or had a loose wire, we are able to get them in to get it fixed right away so they aren't in pain or even discomfort. Karen in the front office is friendly and handles all of the insurance so I don't have to mess with it! Veronica is also great. The whole team is amazing. The office itself is very clean, comfortable and modern. I would highly recommend Dr Silva to anyone needing braces. She truly cares about the individual patient and she and her team go out of their way to provide excellent care.
