We had a major back up on your sewer line and Pete came out within an hour on a Saturday afternoon and took care of the problem with his powerful hydrojetting tool. With his camera, we discovered lots of roots and a slightly broken sewer line where it meets the city pipe, but at least he cleared the line and said it should be good until the landlord is ready to do the big repair. Sunday 11/27 our kitchen sink got clogged! My husband and I tried a few tricks (baking soda, vinegar & boiling water typically it did the trick on our bathroom and home depot purchase drain opener) today it didn't. I asked my husband to contact our go to guy Eric but he said to contact Peter Silvas (who fixed our shower early this year). Today Peter came to fix our kitchen sink, he arrived early and after exchanging a few words he went right to work. He opened the pipe and found eggshells!! (My husband is guilty how the eggshells got there). He cleaned it out, when he's done I noticed that there was a leak and he immediately tried to find where it was coming from and fixed it!! The valve for the refrigerate filter was leaking. I had to refuse the delivery of a new refrigerator the previous day because if they left it, the leak would void our warranty. I read some great reviews about Silvas Plumbing on Yelp and decided to use his services. He came over to my house and talked all the while he was working. I assume he was trying to make a good impression. Before starting the job, he quoted an outrageous charge for a part required for the job. I balked and then informed him that I had the part that I had picked up from Home Depot earlier. I usually take care of all plumbing repairs but this fixture had become stuck and I had no tools to tackle the job. Anyway, he winced, settled for a charge and went about to finish the job. After the job, he insisted on accepting only cash, even though his website had listed credit cards as an acceptable form of payment. We scrambled to get some on-hand cash and paid him. He refused to issue a receipt and left very quickly. I went to inspect the job and noticed that this guy was not very proud of his profession. The finish on the wall plate was poor. No caulk or sealer was applied. I failed to mention that we had also negotiated to fix a leak on the commode, which he included in the overall charge. Three months later the commode has started leaking, just like it was before he fixed it. While working on the job, we had a running conversation, so we assumed there was good rapport between us. But the aftermath was very disappointing. Because he did not give a receipt, it was even difficult to prove that he had done a job for which he was paid. I think this is a very unprofessional gentleman. I can only imagine that the glowing reviews on his services are likely from associates who are trying to prop him up as something that he is not. I could be wrong, but he left a bitter after taste that just won't go away. I am one unsatisfied customer who will be wary of ever using his services again or recommending him to others. He does not even deserve a one star rating! Oh, I notice that his website has since been shut down and his operations are listed as closed. Go figure! read more
