Silver Bay Bagels is a cozy bagelarium in one of those ubiquitous strip centers along Hooper Avenue in Tom's River. It wasn't overly crowded for a Sunday early afternoon, and to my sweet surprise they weren't out of onion bagels. So, I ordered one with veggie cream cheese to check them out on this, my first visit. Service was friendly and efficient, and delivered to me at a small table in about 5 minutes. The bagel seemed a tad undersized compared to what I was expecting from recent experience, but aside from that it was quite good. Texture had a nice chew and pleasant onion flavor with plenty of roasted nibs all around. Cream cheese was fresh, but not overly vegified. The bagels are amazing! Best I have ever had. However who ever is putting together these bagels needs to be educated. I almost gave it 3 stars because this is a constant issue, even when I ask for light cream cheese(but then you get hardly any so I stopped doing that) or tell them point blank please cream cheese both sides. There is no need for this much on one side of a bagel. But ultimately the bagels are consistently delicious, the staff and the owner are genuinely nice people. 4.5 Solid bagel- solid spreads. Easy order and pay online, quick service, large signs for location. Employees were very nice, open inside and clean. Purchased a bakers dozen with three spreads: Scallion Cream cheese, Plain, and cinnamon butter. All had great flavor, the cinnamon was savory- great amount of cinnamon which we loved, not crazy sweet with sugar either/ perfect. Tried the everything bagel- half plain and half egg to try both. Equally delicious with a slight flavor decadence with the egg. Also ordered blueberry, chocolate chip, cinnamon raisin, plain, and French toast (individually wrapped, powdered sugar on top). We mixed our bagels with taylor ham, eggs, and avocado- enjoyed across. Chewy outside with soft inside- really good. I noticed Silver Bay had good Yelp reviews and needed to get my NY bagel fix. Just decided to get a dozen bagels which seemed a bit pricey at (I think) $18 ish dollars. Got a small tub of nova smoked salmon cream cheese so that raised the bill a bit too. The bagels at this shop are pretty good and they have a nice chewy texture. Was bummed they were out of cinnamon raisin but I did come in the afternoon. Some of my favorite flavors were the marbled rye, blueberry, pumpernickel, and everything. There are some seats indoors and a few tables outdoors. Of course there are other items on the menu like coffee, sandwiches, desserts, etc so you can find something to satisfy everyone in the family. read more

The place is extra clean with cute and modern decor. They have casual seating. They offer a self serve coffee station. Well-stocked grab-and-go area with cream cheese tubs, muffins, juices. The staff is always really friendly. They give you extra napkins and utensils. The bagels are good, a twist is the same thing as a plain bagel in case they're all out! Not a fan, been their few times and always the same, Bagels were small and doughie on inside, not raw, but undercooked. Bagels should be crusty on the outside (I look for that when deciding on what kind I want I did my best here but....) and soft and airy on inside. But these really dense. These were consistently neither. Maybe its because I worked in NYC for 15 years. Silver Bay Bagels is definitely my favorite bagel place in the region. Their bagels are baked fresh everyday, and they taste that way. They also do not make so many weird or experimental ones because they don't have to. They just make the best bagels. My dad is a native New Yorker, but he now lives on the West Coast. When he comes back to visit me, he always asks to go to Silver Bay Bagels. That tells you something about the quality. They renovated a couple years ago, and I like what they have done. It is nice in there. It's always busy, especially on the weekends. 4 Stars instead of 5 because I do not think the service is friendly. The times I have asked them to slice the bagels or do anything in addition, I feel as if I am bothering them. They also do that "guilt-tipping" thing with the iPads when you pay with credit card, and I find that excessive when no real sitdown service is provided or even service with a smile. I know that is a controversial opinion. But overall, this is an excellent bagel shop. read more

The bagels are great and I've always loved it since Brian took over but it's gone downhill. I stopped in for lunch today and saw several of the workers just messing around, doing nothing for most of the time I was there. I went back up to get an order to go and one of the guys making the sandwich was rubbing his head with his gloves hand! Over and over again! I said something and the manager quickly told him to change his gloves. There's too many workers with nothing to do and it looks bad to the customers when they're just fooling around. Today I placed a mobile order at this establishment. When I got to the restaurant at the designated pick up time I was told that my order was already picked up. To their staffs surprise my order was not there. When I asked them where who they gave my order to they replied that a driver picked it up. I was disappointed that the staff does not ask for any confirmation prior to handing out customers orders. I then had to wait another 20 minutes for my entire order that was given to a stranger originally to be remade which was a major inconvenience.
