I just want to point out that I still come here because of Nam. I've been loyal to Nam for almost twelve years. The reason for the update is that I know a lot of people have asked this question, "Where did Eddie and Johnny go?" I've got the answer. Johnny Tham opened up his own barber shop on Alondra. I don't know the exact address. It's not even listed on the whitepages. I do know that if you drive west on Alondra into the city of Bellflower. It's about three minutes from Silver Blade. Right on the corner next to a KFC in a small shopping center. I went to congratulate Johhny on becoming an owner. I'm trying to get him to recruit Nam. If he does, then that spells the end of Silver Blade. In my opinion Eddie, Nam and Johnny are among the best barbers in LA at the moment. If you keep up with my reviews you can see that I have a deep appreciation for good barbers. I've reviewed at least a dozen barber shops. Including one owned by my brother and dad in San Pedro. It's a slow dying profession. These three guys I've mentioned are truly some of the best. So, if you're still going to Silver Blade or Johnny Tham's shop. Very happy with the service here. Fast, friendly and decent pricing. I knocked a star off because I think kids haircuts could be a few bucks less than adult pricing but I realize sometimes kids could be more work because they move and stuff. But my kids are 11 and 14 so they sit pretty well and one son just needed a quick half undercut, no fade and nothing off the top so it was like a 8 minute job. Decent barbers if you're not super picky and need a quick cut. I'd be happy to keep coming back if there isn't a long wait, which there wasn't when we went. read more

Thanks to Yelp I was able to find this Great barbershop! Im not gonna lie, I was very skeptical walking in for the first time not knowing the quality of the barbers. Fortunately, everything went great. I came in, wrote down my name and only waited for about 10 minutes for my turn. They had 4 barbers cutting hair and every single one of them cut good quality hair. My barber was a very sweet Hispanic lady who was attentive and followed instructions.( I didn't get a chance to get her name) I wanted a tapper with a scissor cut on top, and that's exactly what she did. It took her roughly 20 minutes but made sure to give me a fresh haircut. One thing that really stood out about this place was this awesome reindeer head on the wall. I asked more information on it and they advised it had been on the wall for over 40 years now! So cool. Overall, I really enjoyed this barber shop. I only paid $12 for a haircut (Not including tip). I will be definitely be back again soon. read more

This is definitely a hit or miss place. Haircuts are definitely cheap but you get what you pay for. Also, their hours of operation varies. It really depends on the barbers if they still want to see any customers. I got in at 4 on a Saturday and it clearly states that they close at 5 but they're already closed. Just beware of this place. Update: I came back the following day but then I saw this big sign telling customers to go to the barber who is available. No thanks. I know for a fact the 2 of the 3 barbers in the shop cant cut hair. Again, beware of this place. read more

If I could I would give it negative 100 stars. This place is absolutely horrible. If you would like to get multiple cuts on your neck and head then by all means come to this establishment. My 17 yr old brother came for a haircut and the guy which I have yet to get a name but I will. Cut up my brother he came home bleeding with multiple cuts throughout his head as you will see. Not only did they cut him but this place is dirty. And they do not clean or replace their blades. They did not give us our money back and said to come back tomorrow when the barber is there. Silver Blade gets top billing not because it is the fanciest, plushest, glitziest, highest class.....well, you get the picture. Silver Blade gets 5 cuz they have some awesome barbers. That's right. Barbers. Neither stylists nor cosmetologists nor aestheticians, nor artists....sorry, there I go again. The bottom line is that these men (most are men) and lady cut hair and cut a lot of it. They seem to specialize in short, tight cuts but I get the impression that they are pretty versatile. The salon has been around forever and the people that work here know how to work together...not a lot of chatter...mostly focus on cutting hair. You come in, sign in for next avail, sit down, tell them what you want, pay and you are out. Not a bunch of extras. Just the hair that you want at a price that is very affordable. Men's cuts start at $7. It may sound like Super Cuts but don't be confused. Almost all male customers here but I have seen a few women. First time I visited, I got the asian (Filipino I think) barber. I wasn't really comfortable with him as he doesn' t speak English well so I wasn't sure that he understood what I wanted but the cut was ok. So, be careful about this guy. But, I did see that all of the other babers had happy customers. So, I came back. This time I got Eddie. What can I say? He rocks. I haven't been this happy with a cut in years....and I've tried all of the $30+ salons. Thanks! The one thing I don't like is the single sign up sheet. If you aren't familiar with the barbers here, you may get someone that you aren't comfortable with...it's a first come-first served sheet. But, again, with one exception, these guys seem worth it. A friend told me about this place a few months ago, and I finally got around to looking them up on Yelp about a week ago when I realized how frickin' tired I was of crappy "super"cuts. For a little background on this review, I used to go to "stupid"cuts and the price crept up all the way to 16 bucks for a men's cut. The people cutting hair didn't take their time to fade me up right, and often times their equipment (clippers) were not sharpened properly or didn't have enough power, so they would actually pull on my hair a bit. Now, I know I needed to find a real barbershop, and fast. So after some research, I decided to try Silver Blade. Not the nicest place inside, but who cares? I went in early on Saturday (about 8:15am) and got seated almost right away, but only because one of the chairs became available right as I got there. A bit of luck, I suppose. I got a guy named Sonny. Sonny hooked me up with a great fade cut. He took his time and you can tell was very detailed. Guys that get fades know what I'm talking about when I say that you don't actually need to watch somebody work in the mirror (they face you away from the mirror here) in order to know that they are fading you up right and know what they're doing. You can "feel" it. The clippers were razor sharp and had ZERO problem cutting through my wavy/curly hair. No pulls, no bull. So props go out to Sonny for keeping his equipment in tip-top shape. He finished the cut with a warm shaving foam lather along the neckline and ears, with a good old-fashioned straight razor to clean everything up. You will NEVER see that at "stupid"cuts. Here's the kicker--it only cost me $10 (plus tip). I gave the guy 5 bucks 'cause I figured I was actually SAVING money over the place I used to go, even with that much tip included. That's how happy I was with the cut. I mean, I was about to give them a 4-star, mostly for lack of ambience. But seriously, now that I think about it, I don't care how fancy the place is that cuts my hair, as long as it is kept clean and they do a good job. So 5 stars it is. This will be my new go-to barbershop. I did see Nam, who still works here. As for those Eddie and Johnny, I asked Sonny about those guys, and he said that they don't work at Silver Blade anymore. Apparently they opened their own shop elsewhere (who knows where exactly?). But based on my experience, I won't be needing to seek them out at all. read more

If you need a good a$$ fade look no further then here. These guys I assume were trained by ninjas, they trim will you down with laser precision having you ready for that hot friday night date you worked so hard to setup I'm sure the other barbers are skilled but Sunny is my barber of choice, this guy found his calling card! He spends at least 30 min on me each time, trimming multiple layers starting with a 1 on edges working up, ensuring a smooth, well blended fade. On top of this, cost is only 10 bucks plus tip. Come early as wait is sometimes long but well worth it, I'm never looking back at those 20 dollar salons where all asian girls look alike and u pay just to have them dress like runway whores. read more

Never going back again! Went in yesterday on a friends referral and wow. Being a guy with short hair, its kinda hard to mess it up, but they sure did. The barber even told me he doesn't clean up the back of necks with a razor...only clippers. I didn't realize how bad it was till I saw my friends that day. Boy did they tell me all about how bad it was all day long. Went the next day and spoke to someone about it. Even they could see how bad it was. They offered to fix it and I let them. Fixed the hair pretty good but when he was cleaning up my neck he was cutting me like crazy...hurt like hell to. 2 tries...2 fails! If I coukd rate a 0 I would. read more

He is precise, careful, and quick. And for $10, you just can't beat it. I've also been cut by Sonny, who is also a great barber. Oh man... I came here to get tapered up cuz i heard the cuts were 8 bucks!! BUT as soon as I signed my name on the clipboard and turned around to watch the barbers in action, i just left. dudes were pretty much getting military style haircuts. (which is nothing bad at all if that's your taste...) so If you want a quick fade (that takes like 5 mins) and don't care too much about getting "lined up", then this spot is for you. however, if you're picky about your fades and tapers, go somewhere else. Thanks to Silver Blade, my pursuit for a cheap decent haircut has been fulfilled. Holds about 6-7 seats. It does get crowded on the weekends. Open seven days a week. This place is filled with locals young and old. The prices vary depending what type of cut you are looking from. For a regular haircut, they charge $7-$9. It's nothing fancy. No plasma or state of the art sound system. They have one TV with no cable and a huge moose head hanging on the wall. It's a pretty chill place overall. Friendly staff and good cuts. read more

Been coming here on and off for almost 10 years... Just the last 2 years I've chosen this as my go-to barber shop. A high and tight seems easy enough, but it's a difficult cut to master. I always get a skin fade and they do it with a straight razor, unlike others where they use a disposable shaving razor or even an electric razor. I only get my fades done by the 2 young Asian guys and sometimes the older Asian gentleman. read more

I've come here plenty of times and learned my lesson by not letting the women here cut my hair so I've been going to the 2nd chair (forgot his name) got home to check out the back side of my fade (he didn't show me the back when he was done) and the fade is all crooked, never coming back to this spot again. I'm new to the area and after reading a couple reviews decided to hit this place up. Well, let's say I'm coming right back to this place every time I need a fade. Normally I go to an Asian spot wit a Vietnamese woman to get a fade but this is a really good spot. No complaints except that I didn't bring any cash. But you have to go to the liquor store next door to the ATM to get some if you forgot. UPDATE: Best haircut I've had. The only thing that would be better is if the chair massaged you while you sat there. Use common sense, if you see several people waiting for one barber, that's a good indication he/she knows how to cut hair. Their is usually one guy that everyone avoids. Came here right before school started to get a fade. The shop isn't the best looking shop but they have quality barbers. Frank was my barber, and did my fade to perfection. He would go over spots more than once to make sure everything was all even. For line ups he would use the trimmer and then go over it with a razor to make it extra sharp. He is also very friendly and easy to talk to. I am definitely coming back, and best of all it was only 10 dollars! I am used to going to barbershops that charge 20$ for the same haircut.
