I stayed here for a couple of days while I was in Seattle for some doctor's visits. The location was very convenient to my doctors and also pretty close to the U Village. The staff was very friendly and the lobby and restaurant areas were very modern. The rooms have been refreshed but walking out of the shower onto the same carpet you walk into the room on was a bit icky for me. They have a decent breakfast in the mornings and a nice bar area to grab a bite to eat in the evenings. If you have business in the area, it's a great place to stay. If you're not going to be in that area, you'll hit quite a bit of traffic getting downtown. read more

What started as a three day vacation turned into a two week trip through hell. I flew out from Arizona when my 86 year old mother fell and needed to have hip surgery. It was only going to take a few days, but she also suffered from dementia and unfortunately never fully recovered from the surgery, and passed away two weeks later. During that time the last thing I needed to have to deal with was messing around with hotels, and the staff at the Silver Cloud took that one thing off my plate. It doesn't sound like much but believe be it would have been the straw that broke the camels back if they hadn't been so understanding. They let me push my stay out twice, and then at the end let me check out early without penalizing me for the days I wasn't going to use. The room was clean and quiet, which was really nice after spending all day in the hospital. They have a nice bar downstairs and serve a decent breakfast as well. The hotel was super close to the WU hospital which was convenient as well. I get the impression that being so close to the hospital they have a lot of guests staying there for reasons like mine, and are understanding and flexible because of it. They almost always have rooms and believe the hotel itself is relatively newer and/or remodeled.. lots of parking around the hotel, and they close/lock all entrances besides the main after hours which is nice for safety. This hotel represents a great value. Recently stayed at the hotel so that we would have any easy evening/morning since my daughters were attending the Kendrick Lamar concert that ended at 11 PM. By the time we were able to get out of the Sodo traffic around Lumen field it was already 1 AM. So it was nice to just have a quick drive over to the hotel and crash. Our 2-bed room was great and had strong wi-fi to allow me to work remotely from the hotel room. I really liked the stone-top table that you can work from as most hotels have wood table tops that through wear-n-tear eventually the edge-banding of the table splinters and digs into your arms. We arrived about an hour before the regular 4 PM check-in time and the staff was able to assign us a room so that my daughters could get ready for the concert. The hotel serves a great continental breakfast that even my fussy daughters did not pass up. If you need to visit a coffee shop...there is Zoka coffee literally around the corner with good vibes! Having lived in Seattle for 20+ years, this is a great place to stay out and use as a base for see all of our friends and visiting places in Seattle. read more

I would not call myself a fan (4 stars) but I think this hotel deserves more than 3 stars (A-OK). The location is great and the hotel amenities are very good, but something you will immediately notice once you step into your room is that this hotel is dated. It is clean, but you may feel you were misled if you'd seen the photos on the hotel website. HOTEL or MOTEL? (that is the question!) The front desk and lobby definitely give you the impression that it's a hotel, but once you step into your room, it feels like a high-end motel or low-end hotel. As I already mentioned, guest rooms are dated (see my photo of the love chair). The first thing you see entering the room is the sink, reminiscent of a motel! I can let pretty much anything slide because it was clean, though. LOCATION (5 stars) It's only about 5 minutes away from the University of Washington. It's only a block away (5 minute walk) from University Village, a mall. There are restaurants near the hotel and at the mall. GUEST ROOM (3 stars) Clean and spacious, but once again dated. A nice steady desk, along with free Wifi, was useful for me. You can find basic amenities, such as a microwave, a mini fridge, and an iron. Something I thought lacking was small things like cotton swabs, a shower cap (although I don't use them) that you would often find in hotel guest rooms. HOTEL SERVICES (4 stars) FREE SHUTTLE: I was pretty impressed that they have a complimentary shuttle service within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. The shuttle runs on the hour and half hour between 7am and 10pm. BREAKFAST: Complimentary breakfast is served in the Bar and Bistro from 6:30am to 9:30am Monday through Friday and from 7:00am to 10:00am on the weekend. Mostly baked goods (bread, pastries, waffles, cereals) but they also have a few hot food items (scrambled eggs, sausage). If you stay here with kids, they would enjoy the breakfast. I was not excited but was happy nonetheless because I didn't have to go out to get breakfast. OTHER SERVICES They have an exercise room and laundry room, too. PARKING (4 stars) The lot is lit, and there are security cameras, but it is not gated or covered. The parking spaces are generous in size (photo). Self park only, and $15 per night. I don't know why they charge us for parking at all, but $15 is not bad at all compared with $50~$60 a night in downtown Seattle. CONCLUSION If I have business at the University of Washington, I will probably stay here again. Spend three days there as I was visiting the University of Washington. It is a nice hotel, conveniently located close to campus with a free shuttle service to a 3 mile radius. Rooms are small but relatively clean. My room (1 king bed, first floor) was in need of maintenance. For example, the shower head was falling apart ... There is a fair portion buffet-stye complimentary breakfast offered at the restaurant bar, and a relaxing happy hour. I liked the modern decor of the reception area, and I wish a similar style could be found in rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, a positive experience... and I would consider getting back. read more

Front staff was so incredibly rude and unaccommodating. I cannot believe the experience we had on June 28th in 100 degree temps, from out of town and they KICKED us out because after being upset our room was still not ready 6.5 hours AFTER check in... I was booked to stay with my three young grandchildren visiting from california. It was clear from the moment we got there the staff was unprepared for the volume of check-ins due to the heat. We arrived at 7:30pm eventhough a confirmation said we could check in at 3pm and by 8:30 we still did not have a room. this was after 30 minutes of the front staff saying we did not even have a reservation despite me showing them an email and text message. Once we finally got a room, we grabbed all our luggage and the children and i made our way to the room... only to be told by a cleaning staff that we could not use the room assinged and she kicked us out! We had to go back to the lobby and were told to get a different room... I asked housekeeping person to let us wait outside the door while she finished--- the room met our need as beds were made and the children were exhausted and needed to sleep. She insisted we go to the lobby. There we waited again and when I called my daughter, the mother of the children and told her what was happening the woman who was at the front desk (lindsey -said she was thee night manager) yelled across the lobby that I was complaining and needed to cancel my reservation! We had NO WHERE TO STAY! I asked her to talk to my daughter on my cell (my daughter booked the room) when she did, my daughter begged her to let us stay and she physically grabbed my phone and hung it up! My duaghter called the front desk twice to sort the issue and she hung up on them. Of course by now, I was so upset, the kids are crying and the front desk woman told me we were to leave, she cancelled our reservation and she would call the police. She said that because i was upset we had a room (after waiting 1.5 hour) and complaining infront of a lobby full of guests (also waiting for their rooms) that I was upsetting them and had to leave... nevermind it was the poor behavoir of this staff that was the root cause of all of this. A simple explaination and apology would have gone a long way for a $300/night room. The staff was so outrageously rude, I absolutely cannot believe this experience. Clearly training is poor. More importantly it is so obvious the hotel was overbooked and I was made to be the one to blame rather than the staff taking any accountability for it. The staff is shameful. The behavior is abhorrent. You are in customer service and hospitality -surely you should know how to handle your business better considering we were being charged $350 for one night and you had no room for us 6.5 hours after check in. Completely disgusted. Of course, management has not called me back after I requested twice. read more

Nothing fancy or special, but a nice, clean room, friendly service -- and an excellent free breakfast buffet each and every day (including x-mas). All the rooms also have a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee- maker, which we found very convenient. On top of that, the location is excellent, if you need to be near UW. It's literally just steps from University Village (which may be the nicest outdoor mall I have ever been to) -- and it is a safe and convenient location. I personally refuse to do business with companies that treat customer information as a commodity available to the highest bidder. We needed a place to stay for a trip to Seattle Children's Hospital. This is one of the closest hotels. They had a very small hospital discount. We stayed in a king mini suite. It was clean. It looked updated. And, the sofa bed was comfortable for my son. The staff was helpful and friendly. It was a little pricey for mid week but I doubt you could find cheaper in the university district. The complimentary breakfast was no better or worse than major chain hotels, which is generally below average. On the upside, the best bagel shop in Washington has a shop real close to the hotel. read more

I'm mixed on this "hotel" and wonder if I'll stay here again. The good: *It's walking close (about 3/4 of a mile) to UW campus and they also offer a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes (to a handful of places, not just UW). The drivers are super nice and helpful, but make a reservation at the front desk because time slots fill up. *It's about a block away from University District with great shopping and dining options. *The lobby is upbeat. *They offer a complimentary breakfast buffet every morning (eggs, waffles, potatoes, cereal, etc.). It's not fine dining or super delish, but gets the job done in a rush. *The rooms are clean and moderately comfy. *Large flat screen tv's and free wifi. The bad: *Even with the updated decor, it feels like a motel, not a $299 a night hotel (king bed mini suite). I previously joined their loyalty program knowing I have many visits to Seattle ahead of me and wanting/needing to be really close to UW for those trips. There are a lot of conveniences in staying at Silver Cloud that can't be ignored. In fact, I already have 1 future reservation at Silver Cloud when I move my son into UW, but after this last visit, I'm very tempted to broaden my horizons and look at alternatives. read more

Worst customer service I have experienced, ever. Our reservation was confirmed for 3pm. At 7:30pm they still could not check us in because 'they did not have a room ready'. Rather than own up to that, they spent 30 minutes saying we do not have a reservation when we clearly had both text and email confirmations from the hotel. By 8:30pm finally we were given a room only to be turned away from cleaning staff that was still cleaning and said we could not go it.... despite us saying we were fine with the room as is and it looked good enough. With three young children and having to carry all our items back and forth to the lobby, in addition an extremely unprofessional front lobby staff. We expressed our frustrations and were told a room cannot be guaranteed at any specific time! Naturally, we were frustrated. There are no other hotels available in Seattle thanks to the excessive heat wave, and we had no where to go. When we shared our frustrations, not only was the lobby "manager" rude, but she walked away not to return for 20 minutes. We had someone call in who helped us with the reservation and she hung up on them three times! At the end of it all, with three kids in the lobby at 9:30 at night she said because of us complaining she is denying a room! It is clear that they cannot manage this hotel when at full capacity, no customer service and they kept saying we needed to have understanding for them... but they can kick us out with no place to stay. We were planning on spending $300 for the night. I have never in my life experienced such unprofessional and rude behavior. As a person who works in customer service for my full career, I can confidently say that while we were clearly upset with how the staff was handling the situation, this was not a circumstance that warranted their reactiveness and to be so incredibly rude -- with children! There are a dozen ways to handle a difficult business situation and not one was used. read more

Stayed here for the STP ride. Excellent staff, very clean rooms and easy parking. The free breakfast in the morning is always welcomed. We had made an error in our booking but the staff said "no problem" we'll take care of it. Got us rebooked and in our room in no time. This hotel is clean and comfortable with a friendly staff. It's not luxurious, beautiful, or romantic-ish in any way. The decor is kinda old. But if you're staying for business, it's perfect. Pros: - Great location (within reasonable walking distance of the University District). - Rooms are comfortable. - Decent wifi. - Free parking. - I hear there's a pool...haven't explored but I'm sure it's true. - Great customer service (our air conditioner had trouble working...it took a few tries, but they got it working in addition to compensating us). - I believe this hotel has been packed both nights, and it's amazingly quiet (both in the hallways and noise from the floor above us (or lack thereof)). - Giant flat screen tvs. - Fridge/microwave (at least in the suites). - Device charging stations through the alarm clocks! Minor annoyances: - Parking is tight (but...its Seattle, not the fault of the hotel) - Mattresses are not super comfy, unless you like firm/extra firm! Overall, the Silver Cloud was a place that, when referenced, even the locals knew about it. The room was decent enough. The a/c and heating worked well except there was no setting for just fan. Turns out if you put the unit to off the fan comes on .Not a very convenient mechanism. Room was clean and came with a caterpillar in the bathroom! The staff was polite and friendly. Best part of our 2 night stay was the breakfast. Very well prepared and nice choices. We were please it was brought back after a long bout of poor breakfast bag items. We thought 15 dollars a night to park was just gouging plain and simple given they have a huge parking lot. My go to for business travel to Seattle is a Silver Cloud. That said, they do vary. Shout out to the University District Silver Cloud! (I also love the Broadway Silver Cloud!) Here's why: 1. Noon check-out. Yes. Thank you. 2. While I always look to stay somewhere that has an onsite restaurant and fitness center, and this location's restaurant is currently only open for a breakfast buffet (because who isn't still recovering from the pandemic? I get it... see: I'm not ready to work out in a small room with other people again), you are just a block+ away from University Village, where you have a plethora of options, AND you are less than a quarter or a block from the Burke-Gilman Trail, which is a great urban trail. Also, the breakfast buffet features a sign indicating that if you have dietary restrictions, just ask one of the staff for help. As someone who typically has to skip or just eat 5 apples at many a hotel breakfast buffet, I REALLY APPRECIATE THIS. 3. And this should be #1: the staff. Check-in was easy and helpful. (I know that early check-in requests are really dependent on people's checkout schedules, so there's no guarantee, and I appreciate that Silver Cloud noted my request. Bonus: I was able to check in early on a multi-stop trip--read: I really wanted a place to land.) And everyone, from the cleaning staff to the breakfast staff has been friendly, professional, helpful and just so kind. I'll be back, even if this isn't the closest SC to where I'm working. (Btw, they serve Meaning of Life coffee... Yes, please!) ... And I just saw a quick, casual interaction between someone who looks like they're a manager, just checking in with staff about how they are today. I've stayed here several times over the last few years because it's close to the university. It had a beautiful breakfast buffet which made up for the somewhat dated room interiors. Since Covid, they've discontinued the breakfast and the restaurant/bistro has closed. Understandable. But, now all the restaurants in the area have reopened, but the hotel food service has not. They hand out brown bag breakfasts that resemble a child's day camp lunch. It looks like they load up the cart at Costco and throw a bunch of sugary crap in a bag and think that'll make up for the full breakfast they once offered. This place isn't cheap, but they seem to think this is appropriate. On top of everything, the desk staff is not the most friendly. I waited for 10 minutes at the desk while two employees typed away on their computers before acknowledging me. I'll do AirB&B next time...this place is just not worth the money. read more

If the cloud is silver, what color is its lining? In the case of Silver Cloud it's an inoffensive grayish taupe. For all intents and purposes this place is a spiffed up Holiday Inn. A good place to lay your head but nothing too cozy. My dark and mildly depressing room smelled slightly strange. The heater fan moaned and made noise when I cranked it to the max to generate any heat. But there are plenty of amenities which account for its popularity. SC serves an above average free breakfast, has a pool, small exercise room and free internet. Their employees are friendly and courteous and offer a discounted rate if you are visiting the nearby University of Washington Medical center. In addition it's within walking distance to the swank University Village shopping center. read more

Low expectations given the awful and dated pictures, but I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and spacious with double sinks. The air conditioner was strong and kept the room at the perfect temperature. The beds were really comfortable and hard to peel off in the morning. The shower was hot and had great water pressure. I was really surprised to find Aveda products here. Score! Make sure you get up early for the breakfast. There was a full spread from hot foods (bacon, sausage, eggs, DIY waffles) to yogurt and cereal. The ambiance is good and a great way to start the rainy day. P.S. ENVIRONMENT - The location is great if you're here for hospital services. It's several miles from the Children's Hospital and Medical Center and hence beyond walking distance but the hotel has a shuttle service that runs every 30 minutes to take you to any location within 3 miles. They will also happily pick you up and bring you back. It's also next door to University Village, which serves all your shopping needs. There's a pool, fitness center, and laundry facilities. They also serve complimentary breakfast every morning from 6:30 to 9:30AM, which consists of your staples - eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, bagels, muffins, coffee, and OJ. There is also hot tea and coffee station available at all hours. The rooms are spartan in decor (like a Holiday Inn) but totally serve the purpose and they're clean. They are well-equipped with a 42 inch plasma screen, small dorm-size fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. SERVICE - Very friendly. They really go out of their way to be accommodating and are extremely helpful. Overall, I found this hotel to be very hospitable and for that reason, I would return. read more

I was very happy with my stay here. I stayed here for seven days, six nights in the month of August. This hotel was great and I can only say positive things about this hotel. Our room was very spacious and kept very clean. I never once saw the maid service in my room, but it was always very clean. We had a microwave (which we never used), refrigerator, and coffee pot with free grounds provided. For bath products they provided aveda. Free wi-fi is always a plus. It's a little annoying that you keep having to enter a passcode everytime you log in. The internet was also much slower than I was used to. The location is wonderful - you're right next to the university village - for lots of shopping, and on the other side is the burke gilman bike trail. As mentioned by other reviewers, they have a shuttle service that is readily available for it's guests and it will also pick you up. They do recommend that you make reservations ahead of time, but I had no problem getting to where I needed at the time I wanted. Their front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. They seem genuinely pleased to try to help you out or answer questions. Very down to earth, yet professional. I didn't use much of their hotel services (the pool, fitness room, or conference rooms) - however, I did use the Laundry room. Laundry machines are free - you can purchase single detergent/dryer sheets for $1 at the front desk. Lastly their free breakfast is the most comprehensive of several hotels I've stayed at in the past year. Most places I have stayed have nothing but carbs galore. This hotel offers several protein selections - eggs, sausage, yogurt. This is seriously the best hotel I've stayed at this past year and I would happily go back. read more

Loved the cleanliness, complimentary breakfast and spacious room-size at this boutique hotel next to the vibrant University Village. The staff was quite friendly also. The complimentary shuttle service to nearby destinations is a plus. The air conditioners are window units and can be somewhat noisy. One Uber driver had a hard time finding the hotel entrance (must be new to the area.) The hotel is a good 20 minute walk from the campus that includes some inclines. I got a pretty good last-minute deal on Priceline and would definitely visit the hotel again on my next trip to the campus. read more

I stayed at this location some 12 years ago and liked it then. I stayed here last weekend and loved it. This location got a make-over more recently. The breakfast room is pleasant, the complimentary breakfast is the BEST any similarly-priced hotel chain offers. Fresh waffles, not the frozen-pop-in-the-toaster kind!!! The evening we checked in, the super front desk agent (Evie?) directed us to a great pizza delivery place. The only minor issue is that the small gym (one treadmill, one bike, a few weight machines) fills up quickly. It is right next to the pool/jacuzzi and humid. Normally I don't like chains, but their off-Nob Hill location in Portland and Bellevue location are also up to their standards. read more

Stayed here for 1 week. The staff is super friendly. They offer a great free breakfast. Hot breakfast with eggs, sausage and potatoes. The kitchen staff is so kind. Overall the hotel is immaculate clean. One of my favorite features is the free shuttle bus. A free shuttle will drop off/pick up within 3 miles of the hotel. This is an awesome feature - no need for uber or lyft. Train station is close by and will take you right into downtown. The hotel rooms are relatively large and have a fridge/microwave. Walkable area - close to supermarket, restaurants and shopping. Parking is $15. read more
