I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place! I've been here twice, and to the Rockville location once. (I don't know if I reviewed that one but that was a long time ago so writing one now probably wouldn't be fair.) I've come here both times on the weekends, in between breakfast and lunch, so around 11:30. I find that this is the best time to have lunch out, or past the lunch rush, around 1:30 or so. Per usual, I love the interior - if I hated it I wouldn't eat here! The first time I came the jukebox at my table didn't work! Sad. The second time it did and I immediately had "December 1963 (Oh, What a Night)" play! I also enjoyed the recordings of performances playing in the waiting area in the lobby. I really wanted to dance because I'm an absolute sucker for Motown and I'll admit I shuffled a little but everyone around was just so serious. Damn. Both times I've gotten pretty tame things from the menu, so to speak. I love breakfast food - french toast, waffles, eggs, tea, bacon, etc. I got a waffle with eggs and bacon and tea - typical breakfast fare. The waffle is super-airy and light, which is how it should be. Their eggs also seem to come out harder than IHOP's, which I like, because I always get them scrambled specifically for that "hard" reason - I don't want any yellow yolk goo anywhere! Staff is on par. Nothing special, and not the most attentive. The patrons are diverse. You've got UMD students (go Terps!), little old couples, generations of families, and pairings like me and my friend. read more

I was a regular at the Silver Diner in Laurel when it unexpectedly closed. This location offers the same delicious modern menu with a warm traditional diner setting. I love this menu, so many healthy options including vegetarian items. I wish there were more Silver Diners! The wait staff are very hospitable and everything I've tried here is delicious. It's just ok. They seem to be going for a organic/natural vibe... but I'm just not sure how that translated through my bacon cheeseburger and french fries. Prices seem just a tad high for a not-overly-huge burger and fries at a diner in Greenbelt (vs. getting same at a 5 guys). Service was average; we had to do a couple "flag downs" for napkins, refills and surprisingly our table had no salt and pepper and when we asked for salt our waitress only brought salt... not pepper. Returned to Silver Diner on Sat 4:30, after some conversation with Joe. Ordered a new item tilapia with a cinnamon chipotle sauce over artichokes and quinoa. As exciting as the description sounds the food was only OK. The cinnamon chipotle sauce was just very salty, the artichoke was a canned (very vinegary). The quinoa was done just right. All served at the right temperature. The spouse had 2 bison sliders she thought were excellent with roasted veggies she didn't finish, too chewy and the brussels sprouts portion too bitter for her. Upgrade from my last visit but they don't have it quite figured out completely yet. The service was good although it took too long to get the check (pretty minor @ 3 minutes too long) All in all Silver Diner didn't win me back as a regular customer. read more

We had the worst experience Monday. We ordered delivery on Silver Diner's website and never received the delivery. We asked for a refund and Silver Diner said they could not do that because their delivery partner Uber did the the charges. We called Uber and they said no, Silver Diner does the charges. Called Silver Diner and they kept saying Uber did the charges!!! They don't even know their own processes. I would not recommend this place to my wirst enemy! Only way I got my money back was because I called the credit card company and disputed the transaction. Today, Wednesday, I have my money back. read more

I went to the Greenbelt Silver Diner the last time I was having a craving for breakfast foods. The flavors did not disappoint but the portion size was suitable for a small child. I was disappointed by the amount of food that wasnt on my plate, if it wasnt for that and the elderly couple staring at me have breakfast alone, I would have rated the place much higher read more

They make a very satisfying breakfast. I love the chicken maple sausage as I do not eat swine :). I usually have them chop it up in a farmers omelet w/ home fries. Yumm. Its hard to screw up eggs.The service is pretty good. I sit at the bar to hear the staff complain.... my entertainment. However, the lunch and dinner menu needs better execution. And the shakes are better at Checkers across the street. That's a shame. I am a diner guy. I'm from NYC the king if diners. I love the varity. I love the prices. I love the new menu options and ingredients. I wish the food was a bit better so I can come back more often and I also...I love to use my frequent customer card :). read more

My extended family and I ate here today and it was pretty fantastic. There were 8 of us and our server was prompt, professional, and attentive. The menu is very extensive; it's actually almost too overwhelming because there's so many attractive food to choose from. This is the type of place that has something for everyone. If you have friend who has special dietary needs such as gluten-free, vegetarian, or are picky and health-conscious, and even those people who don't care about that stuff and just want a burger and fries - this is your place! The seating is average and simple. If the place were nicer physically and had more private seating areas, it would be perfect for special events, reception dinners and so on; it's a very casual restaurant. I still give this place 5 starts because the food is delicious, the service was great, the prices are reasonable, and the menu is diverse. We sat at a long table near the bathroom. There were staff eating and taking a break in the tables/booths next to us. There were having a good time and were a bit loud. A lady appearing to be a manager did come and remind them to be quiet because there were customers around. I won't knock down a start for that because the manager corrected the issue without me even having to ask; she just did so because she apparently noticed it herself. This actually isn't the first time I've been to this location and restaurant. I've had pretty good experiences each time. I really do like The Silver Diner and I look forward to coming back. I've only eaten lunch and dinner there and I want to try this place the next time I go out for breakfast. This place doesn't disappoint. read more

I had the Turkey club and it was cut in rectangles not triangles which was weird and a diet coke and my bill was $17.00. Pricy for diner lunch . We went not too long ago just for dessert so I can't really speak for the food, but overall the place was just lackluster for me. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing I love more than a dive diner with awesome food. It just seemed like this place was trying too hard to fill that niche and in the process lost any type of purpose or soul. I'll give the food the benefit of the doubt since I didn't actually try any, but as for the desserts, I was unimpressed. Unlike previous reviewers, the milkshake I got was just about the worst I'd ever had (not as bad as the ones I had living in Russia though...yikes). You wouldn't think it a very hard thing to produce a decent milkshake, but apparently I was wrong... I'd like to go back and try some of their food, but based on my first experience, it might be a while until I can convince myself to go back. The overall vibe just wasn't doing it for me, and plus there's plenty of other places in the area that I'd try before I made a return visit. I have given this place several tries. The food in the past has always been really good. However, today marks the SECOND time I have gotten sick after going there. The First time I got sick, we had a waitress named Asia. I asked for a cup of coffee, and she brought me coffee in a dirty cup. It was obvious the cup was dirty, as there were dried dribbles of coffee on the side, and bits and pieces on the inside. Instead of making a big deal about it, I just asked for another cup of coffee kindly. For some reason, she didn't bother to ask why, but instead took it away, and then later told me she had to brew a new pot. I would have thought she would have asked why, but she must have knew. That day, I got the open face turkey sandwich( I think it might be called the turkey platter). It tasted just slightly off. Today, I got a clean cup of coffee, and my western omelet tasted great, and looked great, but later today, I got sick again. Today's experience coupled with the one of the other day, tells me this place has issues. I think I may be done with this place. Too bad because they do have a nice menu. A favorite spot for my family so I've been to this Silver Diner and others many times. I like the idea and the seasonal menu. Service at this location is not as good as others though - kind of hit or miss in that department. They make a darn fine turkey burger so even though I've tried other things that is my go-to. The seafood corn chowder is yummy too. It's a good choice if you have a group with diverse tastes and requirements because the have lots of vegan & GF choices. read more

Every time I go here I have a great experience. The food is delicious, the service is almost always fast and friendly, and you rarely have to wait for longer than 15 minutes from being sat to actually eating your food. The vegetarian fare is really great. I go through phases of vegetarian and veganism and this place always gets visited during those times. When I am eating meat, the burgers are AMAZING, especially with a milkshake! The blueberry pancakes are also pretty tasty with some turkey sausage and chocolate milk! read more

I been here twice with my daughter and mother. The first time our waiter Adrian (sorry if misspelled) was very punctual, attentive, helpful, and so kind. He never made us feel like we were waiting around and by surprise he got our order correct down to the kids order despite not taking out a single pen and paper. The second time it was way busier. However we were seated in the same spot with the same waiter and his customer service was the exact same! He even made my 2 year old toddler laugh and smile wide! He's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!His customer service is immaculate! You almost feel like you know him personally by the time you leave just because he doesn't approach you as a customer/guest but as a friend that wants to eat good. I love that! RELIABLY GOOD omellettes, waffles, pancakes, pork chops, milk shakes ... There are more fruits and vegetables and a more inspired menu than the (relatively few) alternatives in College Park / Greenbelt. For breakfast, ask for the crabcake-corn omelette. It's a long-ago discontinued special, but they'll still make it if you order it. It comes with a black bean salsa and a buscuit. Later in the day, try a Vietnamese coffee milkshake. Silver Diner is basically 4-star food/service (for the price), but dependability counts for a *lot*. In 5-6 years of going there every few weeks or so, we've never been disappointed. They're open early (7am) and late (3am on weekends), so if you're hungry, they're probably open. It's our go-to spot whenever we have out-of-town company and don't feel like driving to DC. They're also reasonably kid-friendly. I wrote this because I was surprised at the bad reports from others. Generally, if I have a bad experience at a restaurant, I don't go back, but I'd estimate we've probably been to Silver Diner 30+ times over the years. read more

As I've written for other branches of this DC-based local chain, Silver Diner is why I don't go to Denny's, IHOP, Applebees, or any of the other national chain restaurants anymore. Because for the same money, one can get the same kind of breakfasts and lunches and dinners - but better. Silver Diner has become my goto over the last five years when I want to eat out with friends, but am looking to spend ~$20 instead of $50 or $100. They have all the breakfast staples you'd expect from a Dennys or IHOP, but they just do them better. They have all the dinner selections you'd expect from a Applebees or a TGI Fridays, but they just do them better. Their milkshakes are tasty (and big, and they bring out the steel cup they mull everything in), their portions are generous, and overall they are a reliable, trusty, tasty meal. The Greenbelt branch is clean, parking is ample, it is fairly easy to get to off the Beltway (and thus a good choice for meeting folks) and service is great. read more

Our waitress Katherine was amazing. So friendly and great with our kids. She was super knowledgeable about the menu, offering great suggestions. The food is billed as farm fresh. I didn't have high expectations since it's a simple 50's style diner, but I was completely underwhelmed. The hostess didn't seem to be very happy to see me, my diner (meatloaf) was the worst I've ever had, even compared to frozen (the bottom was burned, and it was really bad). My last hope was desert, I mean who can screw up desert? Apple pie baked daily... was a small square of pastry over a heaping of pie filling. And it was so hot when it arrived I couldn't eat it (way too much microwave). Really, the worst meal and service I've had in years. A big disappointment. read more

This is my healthy place. My favorite restaurant to get mostly vegetables cooked to delicious. However, this is not in my area. I don't really need to have it but if it is near me, I definely would go more often. It is not a regular diner that you consider eating breakfast, shakes, bread & pies, steaks, etc of a typical diner menu. Silver is the gold of diner because it has big bold menu like a fancy restaurant with selection that is highly creative so try new offerings. This place has the best French toast I've ever had. It's so thick and fluffy! A very 80's vibe but truly a great place to visit and eat at. I don't go frequently to Maryland. But, when I do, this is where I meet me friends for lunch. This is a real diner, with all the selection of foods that makes a choice so difficult for an infrequent visitor like my wife and I. We are also well served and find that "at home atmosphere" in the way the server relates to her customers. On the check, it credits "644 Diamond" as our waitress. But, there are others as well. My only complaint is that the booths leave too narrow a distance for comfortable leg room. The rest is worth coming there from all over. My friends and ourselves have never regretted a moment. There is even a Silver Diner in the BWI airport. But, it is after the security checks. read more

I always get the beyond meat burger, a plant-based burger that is fairly convincing. the interior looks like an old-timey diner and there are jukeboxes at every table. I don't write poor reviews, but the service from this outing was not acceptable. Towards the end of the meal, the check was requested (politely), along with a box for the food. Only the box came. We waited and waited. No check. We ask the server again (after flagging him down). He had promised he'd come right back to us. We don't see him for another 10-20 minutes. I finally had to walk over to the register and politely interrupt a group of servers talking casually nearby to request the check. It was finally given to me, but with no smile or courteous behaviour (as promised by the diner's website). I had eaten at Jaleo's (in DC) the night before. Came here with a friend for lunch on Saturday, it was pretty busy so we sat at a table, even though booths are the best part about diners! I had the black bean burger "build your own" with honey mustard and the fixins, with a side salad. The burger wasn't as good as I would've liked it to be, definitely not made to order, or at least didn't taste like it was made to order. It was orange in color, so I'm not sure what else was in it, but I did taste some chucks of vegetables, which was alright. The honey mustard was a little sweet, and the side salad had some pieces of lettuce that weren't consumable. Nice service, though - we had a sweet waitress named Cherry who was helpful and had a good vibe. Prices were okay, but for a diner I thought they should be a little less. This place has a retro look and feel to it. It's kind of cool, I like the idea. It actually has a diner feel to it (whatever that means). The service was pretty good; the waiter was very nice, and checked up a few times to ask if everything was good. The food was okay. I had the southwest turkey sandwich. It came with a side of fries and vegan slaw. It was nothing that blew my socks off, but it was ok I suppose. The sandwich was on white bread with ranch, guacamole, tomato, and lettuce. The fries were decent after a heap of ketchup on top, but definitely nothing to talk about. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I could make a better sandwich myself. read more
