I am writing to express my disappointment following a recent lunchtime visit to your Silver Diner's Greenbelt Plaza location. I ordered the veggie burger and a soda, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet the standard I have come to expect. The portion size was insufficient for the price charged, and the overall value was lacking. The service was also below expectations. My server appeared inattentive, and when I brought my concerns to the manager, his demeanor was dismissive -- as though he was present but uninterested in addressing the issue. This response left me feeling unheard and disappointed. What made this experience especially disheartening is that my previous visits, particularly during breakfast hours, were consistently positive. I haven't been in quite a while myself, but this is a long overdue review of my last time dining in. It was somewhat late at night, and I was meeting up with an old Pokemon Go buddy. He beat me there, but I quickly got settled and ordered a tuna melt, which was thoroughly enjoyable! It was soft, melty, and cheesy like it was supposed to be. Just had water with it. Had a good time catching up with my buddy too! The service was fine -- we didn't find ourselves needing to get anything when she wasn't around, and the place really does feel like a diner with booths haha. On several other occasions, I've gotten pickup orders, especially for my nieces, who love their ample vegan selections -- especially the burgers! I don't find myself going too often, but whenever I do, it's a great time. It's in Beltway Plaza, so the parking lot is huge... but the parking for Silver Diner itself can get pretty tight, so if it's peak time you may not always be able to park close. I'd like to mention up front that I'm a "card carrying" Silver Diner member and this isn't the first time my wife and I have eaten at their location in Greenbelt, MD. We both like the menu selection and I like Retro feel to the place, especially the miniature juke boxes at every booth. On this particular occasion, we opted to go early on the July 4th Holiday, arriving before 9:00am to beat the Out-of-Towners who use this as a pit stop. Typically, I like something that comes with pancakes, but needing to watch my carb count, I went with a more traditional Jack Cheddar Omelette and my wife opted to go "off script" and order something she said "she knew they will make it for her even though it isn't on the menu as written"; she wanted the Huevos Rancheros, but instead of coming with Bison - she wanted to have it made with mixed vegetables. When her order came out from the kitchen, they had made it wrong, with Bison meat and vegetables on the side. We informed our waitress of the mistake and they quickly remade her order. I felt a little guilty eating while she waited on her food, but she insisted that I not let my food get cold. Beyond that initial snafu, my wife was pleased with her food, and my order was fine, although next time I think I might stick with regular pork sausage because the alternative chicken sausage patties might have been healthier for me, but really didn't have as much flavor as traditional sausage would have had. Our waitress, who had a penchant for saying "I got you" did a good job of keeping my cup of coffee topped off, which I always appreciate, and our portions (serving sizes) were good - so we both felt well fed. Terrible customer service. This happened TWICE! I work at a lab where we have breakfast catered and needed for an 8 AM breakfast. The first time, I called the week prior to place my pickup order because EZcater's website doesn't allow pickup before 8:30. I called the week before and asked if we can still place the order and pick it up at 7:30 AM. The employee put me on hold to check with their manager. The manager ok'd it and said they had it down. The morning of the event, I go to the location and they don't have the order. They tried to say I probably ordered at another location until I showed them the call log. The general manager was who I spoke to when I was trying to pick it up. Then she apologized and that they'd make the order right then and there. I understood at the time because mistakes happen. We dropped by on a recent Sunday for dinner. It wasn't too busy, so we were quickly seated. Everyone enjoyed their varied food selections, but the highlight and delight of the visit was our very attentive and excellent server, Jades O. The appetizers were brought to the table well before the food and every one of the 6 entrees were delivered within 5 minutes or less of the first "delivery." No waiting 10 or 15 minutes for everyone to get their food. Also, she checked back frequently and refilled water without asking. Rarely, do you see such a top notch server at run of the mill, chain restaurants.
