I wish I could give this place more stars. On Saturday, May 14th, I celebrated my graduation with my family at the Silver Diner..All 14 of us. I had called ahead and the manager, Nyathi Mxolisi, stated that while they didn't take reservations, he would get me seated as quickly as he could. That took all of 30 minutes. The service was great the food was EXCELLENT. My family is still talking about the chicken and grits, fried green tomatoes, the biscuits, the lemon chicken that was on the under 600 calorie menu. Everything was great. I can't thank him and the Silver Diner enough for making my celebration wonderful. read more

Love this restaurant. It is diner food that is also farm-to-table... meaning you're eating well-raise/happy animals. They have a lot of vegetarian and even some vegan options, and a lot of gluten-free options. They have gluten-free entrees, like quinoa coconut pancakes, and substitutions, like gluten-free bread! At the same time, if you're just looking for eggs, bacon, and a regular pancake, they've got that, too. We've eaten there and done take-out countless times, and never had a bad experience with either. The staff are usually really pleasant and helpful. read more

Very disappointed in breakfast here as I found their Tysons location to be decent. Five of us came for simple breakfast orders after the normal rush hour when the place wasn't busy. After being seated no waiter ever came and we had to flag down a server who finally had somebody come over. They appeared to have plenty of waitpersons but they were mainly talking to each other around the counter. Our server was pleasant but the kitchen apparently couldn't get our simple orders right; eggs were mostly undercooked and we left most of our sorry meals on the plate. The coffee was weak and never refilled. The biscuit was small and tasteless. We eventually had to send one of us to the counter to find our waitress to get the check. Breakfast here is not a bargain and McDonald's has far better food and is much cheaper. read more

Glad to see Silver Diner has improved, I stopped eating here especially at this particular location because the quality of the food went down and the cleanliness of the place was not as great. Came here on 11/16/2018 and ate the new Fiery Fried Chicken sandwich with a side of onion straws and it was delicious very flavorful. The meal comes with coleslaw which was also delicious. I also had the sweetened Peach tea, however it was too sweet for me, I would recommend ordering the unsweetened version and just add your own sugar. The flavor of the tea was still good though. Hopefully Silver Diner keeps up the good work and continue to improve read more

Food was incredible! Plenty of room and did not have to wait for a table. The atmosphere was like a classic 1950s diner. The wait staff was so friendly and our server Ashanti was the one of the nicest and most attentive waiters that I ever had. We will be returning again and will definitely ask to sit in Ashanti's section. read more

The service at this location can be awesome or really bad. It depends on how busy and how staffed they are. The five star review is because of their newly revamped menu which features farm fresh ingredients and meats. I hope to see them increase their use of farm fresh ingredients and invest heavily in renewable energy. I'd go more often if they also increased worker pay and advertised that they did so (10 an hour plus tips for waitressing and at least 15/hour for anyone else). It took about 15 minutes after we got seated to be asked if we had a server. The waitress was ok. At the end of the meal, two waitresses started raising their voices pretty loud and fighting, cursing (f-bombs and all that) and acting as if a they were going to physically fight each other. There were lots of kids near where they were fighting so it seemed even more inappropriate. Didn't seem kid friendly. read more

This Silver Diner is the best diner. Period. The food is consistently excellent & fresh, the milkshakes are bomb, and the service is great and friendly. It's tough to get a table on a Sunday after church, but go during an off hour and you will NOT be sorry. The only thing I don't like about the Silver Diner is that there isn't one closer to my home in northern Maryland. read more

I haven't been to Silver Diner in a while primarily because of he lines on Saturday and Sunday morning. This morning I started running errands early and was able to get there and be seated immediately. I ordered the California omelet which was one of the best tasting omelets I have ever had. It was the combination of the black bean salsa and r The cilantro sour cream that put it over the top! My waiter, Jason, was extremely attentive and accommodating eventhough I didn't ask for very much. The couple across the aisle from me was pleased with his service as well. When I graduated from UMD, my parents said "This is a special day. Name any restaurant in the area no matter how expensive, and we'll go there to celebrate." Obs I said SILVER DINER!!!! This is my favorite place in College Park to eat. It's great because you get the feel of an old diner, with the high quality, fresh, local food. Their goat cheese is out of this world. The goat cheese bruschetta. Oh lordy. Their burgers are PERFECT. The buns are indescribable. The burger with pesto, pine nuts, and arugala is fantastic. All their deserts are crazy good, and I can't forget the milkshakes. So many delicious flavors and you always end up with so much because they fill the glass then bring you all the extra in the mixer. I've come here with one other person and with groups of 15. I have probably been here a dozen times in the last year and it has never been anything less than awesome. read more

The food was good, once we received it. It's not clear what happened, but I received the wrong order and the man who delivered my order (different from our waitress), tried to convince me that the french toast that he was showing me was pancakes. Not just once, not twice, but three times. To boot, I didn't order eggs and bacon with my order of "pancakes". When I pointed this out, he insisted that they came with the order. Seriously? Try to convince me that french toast (which I didn't order) is the same as pancakes (what I did order)? It was not until I asked to see the menu to make the matter clear that he took my order away. We saw that order then go to someone a few tables away. No apologies from him, apologies from the waitress. It was disappointing though, since no one really explained what happened or offered to do something in response to the mistake or the outlandish efforts to persuade me that french toast = pancakes. read more

We have eaten at Silver Diner many times since moving to the area two years ago. We have never had an unfriendly waiter--the service has always been stellar. Tonight, after a major snow storm that has brought the DC metro to a halt, we decided to stop in at our local Silver Diner and grab some dessert. There were only two waiters and one had been there since six thirty a.m., plus the shift manager and three kitchen staff. Given the weather and road conditions, the diner was surprisingly busy. Yes, the staff was stretched thin, yes, there were customers who were upset at the slow service (unavoidable with just two waiters!), but we still had good service and delicious dessert. We appreciate the emphasis on locally-sourced produce and meat, the changing selection of entrees, plus the healthy, low-cal alternatives and vegetarian options. The buffalo sliders on the current menu are delicious. When I need comfort food, I always opt for a bowl of the chicken noodle soup. read more

Their prices were good but for me the food was ok. My turkey bacon was a little tough...I ordered to go and they didn't provide any syrup with my french toast. The service is quick and the staff is always so welcoming. The extensive diner style menu boasts all sort of vegan, organic, and GMO-free options that are difficult to find at other diners. This place is a great rethink of the traditional diner merged with farm-to-table sensibilities. It's not as cheap as a traditional diner, but the extra cost is worth it. We ordered two dishes. First was caramel French toast with eggs and bacon, a variation on standard diner fare but with top-quality ingredients. The second dish was "Tangier cauliflower," an appetizer with feta, a spicy sauce, and pomegranate seeds. This dish was presented as beautifully as at any fancy restaurant, and it tasted as good as it looked. And the service was a first rate too, friendly and attentive. So we went to silvers today for the first time. It looked amazing. The decor is lovely. It took 10 minutes for us to be seated. Not that bad. Then we order, food takes a half hour to get to our table. Fish and chips and a grilled cheese, not hard stuff. The grilled cheese was just lightly toasted bread with sliced cheese not even melted. Our server didn't come back and we gave her a good 5 minutes. So I had to grab a manager . Took another 15 minutes for a new grilled cheese. By this time the fish and chips are almost gone. Still haven't seen our server. We were out of water, didn't have any napkins, asked for vinegar with the fish didn't get any til I was just about done. And to top it off I find a hair on my fish. After we were done I have to ask the manager for the check cause our server is no where to be found again. We asked for our check and a box. Finally our server brings the check, and takes another 10 minutes to come back. She came back without a box. I had to get up and ask for a box. This restaurant sucks. Will never go back or to any other locations. Awful food and service. If I could give it 0 stars I would. This is all coming from someone who is a waitress for a living and we try to be real lenient when going out. read more

Absolutely fabulous food and service! Here with a party of 20 people. Called ahead that we were coming. They had tables set up with water and menus for us and promptly took our orders. Food came out ALL together and was out very quickly! So many yummy super fresh dishes, from the warm roasted veggie salad, avocado toast with smoked salmon, ancient grains shrimp bowel, tangier cauliflower, and work of art burgers. Usually the food is really good, the ingredients taste good and very fresh. The coffee is great. On this visit however my turkey bacon was really cold and tasted stale. The server response was it was cooked this morning, so I am thinking it is not made to order. I don't know why it is not cooked to order! Menu is far more than one would expect from a "diner" I had the warm roasted veggie salad for my entrée, and it was definitely a 5 star meal equal to any dish I've enjoyed even at fine dining restaurants; a wonderful combination of flavors and textures with an varied combination of veggies. There are many healthy vegan/gluten free options on the menu as well as more traditional fare, with an emphasis on local products. I am a Jersey guy so, this place was very disappointing. There was 8 of us at the table. The food was horrible, burgers were overcooked even though on the menu it specifies that it will be cooked medium . French toast was not moist in fact it was dry in the middle. The service was OK, they have a young staff, which means they need to be more professional to be candid. Overall its a great place to be at 2am when you are elevated out your mind .
