I am so glad that this place is still doing well! And what's better than a Sunday Funday with their pretty darn good happy hour? Somehow, I had only been to this place during the winter time, but it is a completely different vibe during the warmer months. The outdoor space is stunning, and everything just feels brighter and happier. The staff are really nice, the patrons are enjoying themselves, and they just have excellent food. My friend and I happen to come during this fashion show event so there were complimentary hors d'oeuvres for everybody present, but we still ordered delicious deviled eggs (I could've eaten a whole tray of them) and had some great cocktails. You know, for the first time ever, I paid attention to a bunch of board games that they have on a shelf. But based on the stuff that's on the shelf in front of them, I am not 100% sure that they are up for grabs, but it still looks cool. Anyone who is in this area should definitely pay them a visit. My friend and I showed up for a late lunch, and after I stood waiting for service for almost five minutes, the bartender finally came closer to me and said the kitchen was closed. She had been looking at me the entire time and didn't say anything or try to signal to me, so I found her behavior pretty rude. I've eaten in and tend to order carry out quite a bit and have not been disappointed. The Royal burger is fantastic. The beef blend that they use is giving steak burger flavor. I've also had the catfish (I believe they've removed it from the menu) and it is well seasoned and is perfectly breaded. The crab fried green tomatoes are definitely a star menu option. It comes with a creamy hot sauce and crab on top. It's still southern classic style with a little twist of Maryland. I order the fried chicken sandwich as if it's fast food. It is a deep fried chicken thigh and is so moist and flavorful. The fried potatoes are another tasty item and when paired with the ramp ranch is taken to another level. I had confused this place with Era! Smh....a few weeks ago we came here for dinner...Halloween evening to be exact. We arrived at 845p and instead of being greeted and WELCOMED in- we were informed the kitchen closes in 15 minutes with this attitude like- we had just did something wrong. Our waitress was awesome and a breath of fresh air compared to the host/ manager who ever he was. I ordered a glass of Resiling which was quite delicious. Crisp, fruity, not too sweet And my husband had a good ol Old Fashion. For dinner, the hubs opted for the burger which he said would've been good if it was prepared how he requested. He said his burger was dry and more well done, than medium well. I went with the the crab cake sandwich and took one bite and spit it out. Full of fillers and salty. Too salty for me to eat...strike 3 I did enjoy my fries and mushroom crostini tho! Based on today's experience would I venture back here- probably not. The ambiance was pretty cool. Loved the playlist and was really hoping this could be a fav wine bar to add to my rotation of wine experiences but that first impression with the host not creating a "welcoming space" for us really did it for me. This was such a cute spot! Saw a few reviews and decided to check it out. First and foremost the location is in a super quiet neighborhood with ample street parking. I went on a Saturday around noon and it was not busy at all! I walked in and was seated. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. I got the walnut banana French toast which was good. Wasn't a fan of the bananas but otherwise it was good. I enjoyed it. I also got the egg entree, I got scrambled eggs and bacon, potato's and toast. It was very filling and very good. Our server, Eden, was very friendly, attentive to our needs, and helpful in helping us choose our order. I had the fried chicken pancake which was pretty good! It's a large pancake with the fried chicken from a chicken sandwich on top accompanied by pork belly and pickled jalapeños. I'm not a fan of pickled jalapeños so I just picked them off, but the overall dish was good! I requested extra syrup on the side because some areas of the pancake weren't drenched in the sauce. The dish was a generous portion size and the price ($20) was very reasonable. The decor and overall interior was very cute. This is definitely a great spot to get together with others over a good meal. The service is great and turnaround time for food is rather quick. The parking situation is as expected- street meter parking, but with the construction going on it's currently free. It was the last day of winter restaurant week and we were in the area and decided to stop by! Our first visit was a couple years ago and we had came for dinner, so this was our chance to taste brunch! The restaurant was moderately packed, lively and warm. I believe they added or rearranged their outdoor seating area bc I don't remember there being an awning and complete set up during our first visit-- it looks pretty cool! We were sat rather promptly and Sam took care of us. For drinks we had the Early riser and Bay Bloody Mary, both not pictured since I've maxed out the number of photos to attach *tears!*. The early riser cocktail was incredibly good, the bite of gin was completely hidden and it was such a light refreshing drink. I highly highly highly recommend giving it a try! He had the Bloody Mary, and felt it was above average and would try it again! To soak up these drinks we had penny royal burger and smoked brisket monte cristo, both with what I assume is the western fries? He wasn't a big fan of his burger, but I thought the flavor was spot on! It was just a tad bit dry. The brisket also left a bit to be desired since it too was dry even with smoked onion cream. Also one half of the sandwich was complete fat too, now don't get me wrong I love a few fatty pieces but I wasn't expecting that. I did enjoy it being on French toast, it was a nice complexity to add to the dish! And we weren't the biggest fan of the fries, they were amazingly cooked with crispy edges but they were bland and the ketchup alone was not helping! We brought home our desserts to catch some sports. I liked the banana pudding, it had a flavor I can't quite put a name to but it was still palatable. Overall, our food was just OK! Made my way here for brunch on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Pennroyal Station is a very attractive establishment (nicely decorated without being too fancy) with indoor & outdoor seating. I made a reservation beforehand and checked in right on time. Upon entering, I was greeted by the gentleman host. As Pennroyal wasn't too crowded at that time (got there on the early side), my companion and I were offered our choice of seating. Since the weather was nice, we chose to go outside. After choosing a table outside, our server (whom was very nice) got us situated with drinks and appetizers. We went with the crab cake biscuits and crab deviled eggs which were both good. My companion did feel like the biscuits were just a little better, though. As far entrees, I had the Fried Chicken Pancake. Companion went with the Smoked Tuna, I believe. Both options were very good and we had no complaints. After another round of drinks, we were ready to get going. By then, we were very pleased and definitely down for a return, perhaps for dinner next time. I absolutely recommend Pennroyal Station. I hope more places like this pop up in the Mt. This restaurant has been on my list of places to try for a while. I finally got to try their brunch. When I arrived, it was on the early side so there weren't any other customers yet but it filled up nicely. We were greeted and seated quickly and our waitress (with the pretty green hair. I'm terrible with names) came over to the table immediately to introduce herself. She gave us time to go over the menu but before she left, she sold me on a drink and an entree. Her personality and customer service were both top-tier. For my drink, I tried the Apple Cider Mimosa which was the perfect fall drink, I wish it had more of the apple cider flavor. I only got a glass, but there's an option to get a pitcher. I ordered biscuits and gravy and Crabby Deviled Eggs from the "Small Plates" and their Shrimp and Grits for my entree. My daughter ordered the burger with a side of fried potatoes. Everything tasted great but each item I tried was spicy. I love spicy food so it didn't bother me but I felt it was worth noting. While the service and food were great, I think my favorite part might be the gorgeous boho chic decor. I'm so glad I finally got a chance to try out the restaurant. I enjoyed everything about it. My friend got the rabbit Paperdelle and I got the pork chops. We also started with an appetizer of the macaroni and cheese with bone marrow. Pork was cooked perfectly and the macaroni and cheese was just the perfect amount of cooked. Flavor, and portion size. I'd give everything 10/10. I was really looking forward to this one! Pennyroyal has been on my hit list for almost a year and I was so excited to finally give them a try for Saturday brunch. I had a 12pm reservation and arrived a few minutes early and was seated immediately. There were a few tables occupied in the front dining room and the bar was empty. I was seated in the back room with 5-6 other tables being occupied by smaller parties and two families. It was national espresso martini day and they had one on the menu so I said hey why not! Unfortunately this version left much to be desired I didn't get a bold coffee flavor it was a bit watery in my opinion. My friend arrived shortly after my drink came and we asked for recommendations the server offered almost the entire menu as a recommendation. When I asked for savory he suggested shrimp and grits or the drives chicken pancake. We ordered those. Based on his recommendation I was expecting the fried chicken pancake to me a bit more creative and plated much better than what I got. It took over 30 minutes for our order to come out and I was underwhelmed. The pancake was soaked in syrup which a no-no for me and the pork belly was cold, the "jalepeno relish" was actually what looked like canned jalapeños on top of the chicken. My friend shared that the shrimp and grits were good but it was a bit spicy and didn't come with much shrimp. My second drink was a Prosecco that came out quite flat and it took 20 minutes to get a new one. My friend ordered a pineapple mimosa and the first one was perfect the second had no pineapple.
