We were passing through Imlay City and did not want to go to a restaurant that was too crowded. This restaurant did not look too busy so we read the reviews and thought we would go for it. We actually had a good experience from the waitress, social distancing to the food taste and prices. I got the chicken Greek salad and there is a $1 difference between the small and large sizes, so I got the large and took some home with me. The chicken was cooked great, the salad was loaded with veggies, peppers and cheese, and the dressing was delicious. It came with a creamy Greek dressing that was delicious. There was also grilled pita on the side. All the employees wore masks and I felt very safe where they seated us.

Steak and cheese sandwich with a side of hash browns. Why not fries? Because I wanted hash browns, and they let me do it.

I know people who refuse to give diners more than 4 stars. What, because they aren't challenging for a James Beard award, they can't be great? Food snobs. As much as I enjoy upscale dining, what I *really* enjoy is finding a place that serves up great food for great prices. Silver Grill definitely does that. I'm very glad we were able to dine in, which is a recent change after a 3-month statewide lockdown. My steak and cheese sub was substantial, with sauteed mushrooms (which I love), and it only set me back $7.99. The steak was good, too. The bun got a bit soggy, but a stack of napkins corrected that. For another $1.50, I was able to get two sides, which included a drink and over a dozen great options, some with a $1 up-charge. I got perfectly crispy hash browns instead of fries because...well, because I wanted them. It's nice having that kind of flexibility on the menu without being told that this is a breakfast-only option. My wife ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and got a fried chicken sandwich instead. But, it looked delicious so we didn't send it back. It was tasty, so no harm done. The steak fries were served in a cool mini fryer basket, and were so good that I barely got a chance to sneak 1 fry before she shut me down: she wanted them! The coleslaw was overdressed, but it tasted good. Besides the very wallet-friendly price - about $25 total for two diners! - the food showed up incredibly quickly. And, the food was hot...literally hot off the grill. Whenever we needed something, our waitress was able to bring it quickly....I'm sure it would have been service with a smile if she weren't wearing a mask. The menu is colossal, with a lot of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I don't know how the rest of the menu is, but I'm really happy with what we had. Next time we're passing through, we will definitely stop by. Take that, food snobs!

First time back since after covid-19 and dinning rooms opening back up. So, newer server and not too comfortable with mask down and no gloves. Also, didn't understand how they were social distancing when guests seat themselves? Used to be a pretty good option for breakfast or lunch in Imlay.

Lots of everything would be the theme for this review of the Silver Grill. This little gem is worth the a stop if your ever in the area. Friendly locals and plenty of love from the owner and the wait staff. Good old fashion quality everything. The Silver Grill has lots of room inside, lots of great wait staff, lots of parking, lots of good food and the serving sizes will put you in a food coma. Give them a try and you'll be happy you did.

This is worth it…read more We went to Imlay City Big Boy with my wife and son during lent, a Friday around 5 pm for their fish buffet, for a change in pace. We were one of about 5 tables in the whole restaurant. After waiting at the table for 20 minutes to place our order...we should have walked then, but we were there so lets see how it goes. I ordered the All you can eat fish bar with the salad bar. Wife ordered a loaded mac and cheese, a special on the menu at the time with crumbled bacon and diced tomato with a side salad. My son ordered a Honey mustard Grilled chicken sandwich with no onion and a side of coleslaw. Not a complicated order right......nope. I went to the salad bar to get some soup and salad before my meal....the soups that were out there were both ice cold, Clam Chowder was the one I remember. So I decided to skip the soup and make a salad. Only one problem, No lettuce. I seen our server going back to our table with my sons coleslaw to ask if they planned on restocking the salad bar. We were told that they were out of lettuce and working on it. When we asked about my wife's side salad, she said she would bring it out as soon as they got some salad. We moved on....and it got worse. I went to the fish buffet, and I know I should not expect the greatest fish ever but you would assume it is edible. It was not even close. All of the options were cold and dried out. The warmest thing on the bar was the hushpuppies that were up there, only because they were "fresh" from the kitchen but burned to a crisp. On to the other parts of the order. My wife's loaded mac and cheese was dry, like the mac and cheese had been reheated in a microwave so it would be hot. Topped with diced tomato and RAW chopped Onion. My sons Honey Mustard Chicken sandwich comes out. At first glance looked okay but right off the bat you could see a layer of red onion as thick as the chicken. Before the waitress even left we asked for it to be fixed. In 3 minutes, it was back to the table, evidence that the "cook" just scrapped everything off and put new shredded lettuce on it. Needless to say the food was terrible. This all took place in about 45 minutes. 2 other tables were sat around us in this time. A father with 2 young kids right behind us and 2 older ladies across from them. the little kids were asking for there food after about 30 minutes. The older ladies had been waiting about 20 minutes when my family got up to leave. They were growing impatient wondering where the waitress was. I told them if they had not ordered anything yet to leave. And the Father agreed. I went up to the counter to pay and asked for the manager. After 5 minutes she finally comes out of the back and asked how everything was? I did not hold back, explaining everything in detail. She had the never to say, we didn't have to eat the food if it was bad. I told her to go to the table and see only bits taken. I paid the bill, even though I didn't want to and promised not to visit there ever again. This was not the first time this had happened, but we usually try it once a year and this was the worse. I even called the Corporate hotline to see if they could try and fix it. I'll never know because I will never go back.

They serve flavorful coffee from a local business too here at Brunch @ Joe's. I was watching My great nephew in Almont play flag football early on Saturday the 14th of September. A grab and go granola bar from home didn't satisfy my 7am hunger. Therefore after his 2 quarter game we walked in at 10am and found a large table /booth to accommodate our group of 5, NO Reservations, just 1st come 1st serve and sit down. I counted 4 different waitresses that helped each other out with serving orders of plates and refills on drinks too, so great teamwork with smiles, and speedy service on food. Everyone enjoyed their HUGE omelets (Made with 3 Eggs) , hungry breakfast platter, Nephew had a plain waffle with loaded syrup and we shared a plate of 4 links of sausage. I was stuffed after My chocolate chip waffle with coffee. A busy place on a Saturday yet tables were being taken care of by all Staff. Afterwards we all were ready to walk off our delicious breakfast by attending the Heritage Festival and Classic Car Show in downtown Almont. Brunch @ Joe's is a hometown place where again the locals chat with each other and embrace with a hug when entering. GO RAIDERS ! This town and diner place is "Where everybody knows, your name... I've been to four corners diner a few times and had no problems in the slightest. The food is good…read morethe service is okay and the atmosphere is homely, minus the occasional AI ads. However the last time that I went was during the vintage fest, it as a whole soured my overall experience. Myself and another had gone to get breakfast. The food was alright as mentioned before and the service was not the best at least for us. Our waitress was decently friendly but had been nicer and more accommodating to others when problems arose while taking shortcuts with our issues. I didn't think much of it but it had bothered the person that came with me so I talked to someone at the register about it in a polite, down to earth kind of way. Remember that. So you can only imagine my surprise that when leaving the aforementioned waitress follows us out to confront us about what we had said. She asked what was wrong and the other person with me told her. The waitress decided to go full passive aggressive on us both. Without listening she continued to tell us how we were wrong and insisted she was the nicest one there and specified that's why she took us over other waitresses. The implication she had in her voice had some mild racist undertones given my plus one was a person of color. I was rightfully getting angry and had made multiple comments of her being unprofessional I went back in. Unsurprisingly she follows us back in and continues huffing like an angsty teenager. I tell the same person what happened and she gives me a card to fill out with my number to be contacted later. All the while the same waitress continues to badger me with passive aggressive comments. Since that trip there I have received not a single call or voicemail apologizing for her actions. TL:DR Waitress followed us out after an incredibly mild criticism and harasses us. Restaurant did nothing.

We got carry out here and we're pretty much disappointed with everything…read more My husband ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken and an order of breadsticks. The salad looked great! Chicken grilled nicely! BUT no salad dressing on it or in the carry-out bag. WTH! Greek salad dressing is not something we have on in fridge so he had to muddle through with whatever we had on hand. My mom ordered chicken picatta. Her chicken was probably over cooked as it was tough or maybe that was just the chicken breast. I don't recommend ordered this for carryout either, especially in colder weather as the sauce on it and the butter on the green beans congealed and looked rather disgusting. I ordered the chicken tender dinner. I was pleasantly surprised that the chicken tenders were homemade and not pulled out if the freezer and then cooked. Very seasoned - which I enjoyed but if you want a plan ol' chicken tender like most restaurants would have, you may not like these as there was a bit of what seemed like Italian seasoning in the batter. It came with a side salad and mashed potatoes. I did not eat either of those that night as I had eaten all five chicken tenders and a few breadsticks. The next evening I pulled the mashed potatoes out of the fridge and tasted them before I put them in the microwave to see if I wanted to add any seasoning. I honestly do not know if they were ok to eat or not. They had a strange taste to them - a slight tang that just didn't sight right on my palette, like an ingredient was sour that they used when making it. Finally, my side salad was a miss. The lettuce itself was fresh and it had about three slices of cucumber and two cherry tomatoes on it. That's it - quite simple salad. However, I wanted thousand island dressing either it and the small container of it had a 12/24 date written on the top. Did they make the dressing that day or put it in the containers that day??? Either way, that's a bad vibe given we placed our order on Jan 9th. I know the salad dressing, if bottled, would still be good, but seeing that date from over two weeks prior is off putting. Supposedly this place got a new chef recently. Maybe it's time to get another because based on what we experienced on Jan 9th, I won't be back. Sadly, we paid $72 for the lackluster food that we had.
