This diner has been a favorite and I have owned 5 restaurants. The food was still good but we had the worst service we have ever had, treated the worst, one of our party never did get his food. And he came from Hartford county on our recommendation. Normally this place is good but the meat I got with my carry out was so rotten that is made the whole first floor of house stink. Just the smell of it made me start gagging but the thing that bothers me is that if the chef has ever actually cooked before then you could smell that the sauce was rancid. They still sent the food out and it was ok? Had I eaten it, I would've gotten sick for sure. This place is just a low quality restaurant with dirty unfriendly employees now. Been here many times since they opened. Never had a problem with the food. Tonight I ordered the Broiled Seafood Platter. The Scallops were awful. I told the waitress I couldn't eat them. She told the manager or whatever she was, she came over & tried to argue with me that there was nothing wrong with them! I told her they didn't taste right & I couldn't eat them. She again said there is nothing wrong with them & I won't discount your meal either. I never asked for a discount but at least they could have offered me something else to replace the scallops. I won't be going back now. They lost a long time customer. Treat your loyal customers like dirt & you lose them. Too many other good places to eat at to waste my money here anymore! Stay away! Every time I come here (which is often) me and the wife are more than happy with the service and ESPECIALLY the food.

I'm so happy we discovered this place. We've been to this place twice in one week because once we went for breakfast we wanted to come back for dinner. Both times we absolutely loved it. I love such old school places where prices are cheap and portions are huge. You don't see it very often nowadays. Everybody seems to reduce the amount of food on your plate (due to portion control, I guess) but somehow "forgets" to adjust the price. My lox omelet had the perfect amount of salmon and my husband received a huge piece of stake with his eggs. For dinner I got a veggie quesadilla that came with soup and cole slaw. It was very good. DH got chicken cordon blue that was smothered in delicious white sauce and it also came with a cup of soup. Soups were really good, too (Maryland crab and navy bean). For desert we had coconut cream pie that was a delicious finish to a great dinner. We had plenty of leftovers and the check was under $30! I think I will be a regular at this place. Also, I want to mention that the menu has a lot to choose from and is very creative. I see a lot of people talking about their crab cakes. Cannot wait to try it next week! read more

After reading all of the great reviews, I had high hopes...and my companions seemed to enjoy their meals, but this is what I feel.... I ordered the crab cake which some said was "best in Baltimore". Although a nice size, I found it to be too mayonnaisey and lacking flavor. Much much better crab cakes down the road at Ocean Pride, Captain Trey's, Schultz's... The crab soup had a lot of nice flavor, but seriously lacked crabmeat except for a few hair-thin broken up scraps of meat. One of my companions ordered the salmon over spinach salad with roasted apples and pumpkin seeds, which sounded and looked wonderful, but again, seriously lacked flavor. I was also a bit irritated that although three of us eliminated an item from our crab cake sandwich (one eliminated coleslaw, two eliminated french fries), which would have come with the sandwich, we were charged additional for two slices of tomato and lettuce, which wasn't included as part of the sandwich. Next time, I will stick with the traditional diner foods.... bacon, pancakes, Greek salad. read more

I have been going here since the day they opened n just seem too get better each time, however all good things come too an end The last 3 or 4 times I have been I was very disappointed, went there today n the place was very slow n the waitress didn't seem to know who was our waitress!!!we waited at least 15min until they noticed we had not been waited! Finally the waitress took our order but only after she took her relatives order first!She complained they were short of help but honestly I could have taken care of few people that were there! I noticed the whole staff were loud n joking around with each other, unfamiliar faces so I guess they have had a change of employees for the worst! I did notice that the owner n his usual staff were absent. Maybe they are on vacation n that old saying of while the cats away the mice will play!!! The food is decent when prepared properly. Not a very comfortable atmosphere if you are not Greek. Had issues with food before and manager never came to table server was the liaison, which was not professional. There is always drama amongst the wait staff and profanity being used. During a visit where I came just for dessert I told the cashier what I would like. I selected the cheesecakes I wanted and she told me that I could not pick my cheesecake I would have to take the one she gave me. Asked to speak to the manager and was told he was not available. Which was a lie because I saw him patrolling around the store. My family or myself will NEVER visit this poorly operated restaurant again. Can I rate a negative?!? I'm not sure where all these people who say the negative reviews are not right, true or other. I assume those people don't know real food, or can't cook.ha! This place is horrible and there is no other word to describe it just that! From the beginning to end just a terrible experience. Hostess must didn't feel like working that day. She acted like we were bothering her...really?!? Ordered your regular bacon and eggs. How can you mess that up you ask. Well you can I guess. Bacon was old, potatoes were cold and tasted like they had been sitting around, cheese just thrown on top of the eggs, cold and dry. Just a mess. My iced tea even tasted old...you know the stained taste from just sitting around and not being freshly made? Yeah that taste. We did not complain, just paid and left and vowed to NEVER return. Silver moon no doubt has delicious food. Portions are decent, food comes out timely and hot and the place is clean. I know, I know. Reviewers have commented on the prices. I'll get to that....All of these things factor into a great 5 star diner. However, something is really off about this place. It took a few visits to really put my finger on it but I'm confident today to express some well thought out feedback. All of the employees feel entitled. Like I owe them for their delicious food. Like I should bow down and be spoken to crappy. Hostess looks and you "how many" without any type of greeting. Servers have been up and down. Some are nice and others have the same attitude. I literally called silver moon one evening to tell them we had a party of 10 coming in 3 hours. The hostess talked me out of coming. Said they were busy and weren't reserving any area for my group. Totally not kidding... I'm not even rude with them. I'm the type of person that just deals with your ignorance and moves on. The prices are fair dinner rates. Anyone who complains about paying 18% gratuity for a large group (more then 6) obviously was never a server before. I have no issues with that. My issues are with their approach. Their dinner is nice, the food and deserts are spectacular.. but Silver Moon, you could be a little nicer.. if you're reading this, your grilled chicken sandwich is out of this world. Classic Diner. I can only speak to my sole experience. It is impossible to give a well rounded review based on owing to the diversity of a dinner menu but my experience was a good one. I stumbled upon it while waiting for my car to be serviced. I was en route to find some coffee at a dunkin donuts or something but decided to give it a try. I was definitely happy I did. I had a grilled cheese that was what one would expect from a good dinner. Then I indulged in some cherry pie which was delicious. The coffee was your typical dinner coffee but my cup was always kept full. This is a solid dinner with great, friendly service. Highly recommended if you want dinner food. If you have time to kill and just want some coffee and a treat, skip dunkin donuts or starbucks. The coffee isn't as good but the atmosphere is better, the food is fine, and the service is great. read more

We go for breakfast and dinner at least once every week. The food and prices are unbeatable. We have never been disappointed. The plates are always plentiful sometimes enough for 2 people to share. What's my pet peeve for today...the Silver Blue Moon at the corner of Pulaski and Middle River. I took my wife there for dinner,one of our orders ( boiled boneless flounder stuffed with crabmeat ) was mishandled and sent to another table, we were patient as they prepared another order but we asked that it be prepared to go. When the order arrivered we took it and left ( our mistake ). Later I went to heat it and like the old commercial with the woman asking " where's the beef" I was like where's the crabmeat! I called and was told by some one claiming to be the manager that 1. We were not charged for the flounder with crabmeat and made to feel that we should have checked the order sooner. As you might expect the response was totally unacceptable and we will no longer be doing business with this establishment! read more

My wife and I absolutely love this place . always great service. Seems like everything thing on there huge menu is good. Love coming here when we can't make up our minds on where to eat. Plus my wife does not get hassled about her guide dog. Love there cream of crab soup, shrimp bisque and there awesome crab cakes. Horrible service, So-so food. The owners daughter Niki was completely unprofessional. They had a new hire they were suppose to be training and did a VERY poor job of helping her become aquainted with the restaurant operations (I was watching). The new hire was completely nice and did more for guests than our regular server (who complained the whole time that she wanted to leave cause she wasnt making any money). I saw servers texting on their cell phones everytime I tried to get their atten for a refill on my beverage and bread. I felt sorry for the new girl...she seemed over qualified to be in this dive. As for the food....it lacks flaver and they really do nothing to break away from using gravy that looks like MUD....the plates are unattractive....the meatloaf looked like dog food. My husband and I travel from Baltimore to Maine frequently and stop at many diners up and down the East coast. Silver Moon is by far one of the best. Beats out Broadway Diner's grease and high prices and Double T diners by far. You get consistency and huge servings for a very reasonable price. Huge crabcakes that people travel two hours to get, friendly service and reasonable prices for meals that 2 people could eat. Chicken pot pie is delicious. Love it. I sat down for breakfast--mushroom omelet, home fries, rye toast. I took a couple bites of my omelet when I saw something moving on my toast. It was a roach! I called over a staff person, pointed out the roach to them and they quickly squashed the roach. They asked me to stay put as they went to the cash register. I saw the daughter make mention to the wife of the owner and she made no attempt to come over to me to apologize or to see if she could make some sort of amends with me. The daughter returned to me, retrieving the receipt stating I did not have to pay. Neither the owner's wife nor daughter apologized to me. My 6 year old daughter and I love this restaurant and recommend it frequently. Their stuffed broiled chicken and their crab cakes are sooo good and their portions are overly generous. A great value for the money especially when you have a child with expensive tastes. My daughter and I share a meal and still have left overs. We also call in carry out orders when we are in the area and have made special trips to purchase the crab cake meals as they make excellent "gift dinners" for family and friends for special occasions and birthdays. read more

I live very close to the Sliver Moon Diner, and have come to be quite a fan. I was a bit leary at first, afraid it was going to be a sub-standard greasy spoon, but after eating there about 5 times now, I've really come to like this place. Whether I'm out for brunch, or late night eats, the Silver Moon Diner always has something on their huge menu to satisfy my appetite. Their bakery case is especially delicious.... my boyfriend loves their eclairs with reckless abandon. :-D The only issue I've had is with the staff- sometimes their great and attentive, and sometimes they've been lacking, but I'll continue to go back there, for sure. read more
