It has been awhile since I have visit this restaurant but like always it did not let me down. It was As delicious as the first time I visited. I had my usual a coney Island dog and gravey fries. I live in Elkton and when come to the VA hospital in Baltimore I general use to stop by, but I have not had to go there in several years and to my surprise they had moved locations. This place still has the same atmosphere and the people are still as friendly and genuine as always. Even the owner will come and chat with you. We met friends here for brunch based on the YELP reviews. We are not sure what the rave was all about. We were told they were known for their Coney Island hotdogs which peaked my interest since i was born in Queens and had many Coney dogs. I ordered a couple and they looked right but first bite said otherwise. The sauce was ok, the onions were fresh but the dog, no bueno. It was soggy soft and not a quality meat dog. There was no "bite" to it, just mush. The fries were also soft and a bit Greasy, like they were sitting for a bit. Maybe it was a bad day, but probably won't try again next time we are in the area. Met up with two buddies at G&A today for lunch. Since it was hot outside, diners chose to enjoy their fare indoors. And the house was full! Maria was our server: very kind, professional and efficient. And a good sales rep for the house as well. I tried something different today: the Ravenator- two burgers with cheese, bacon, onions, mushrooms and julienne onion rings with a "special sauce." I also ordered a side of G&A's classic fries and gravy. My friends had between them an order of Coney burgers with a side of fries and gravy, a Greek salad (with gyro meat) and a side of fries... We enjoyed our food and our chit chat until the party broke up as guests arrived and there was no room at the inn. Common courtesy is a must in this situation. This visit was much better than the last by a long shot. I'm thinking of turning a friend on to G&A very soon; which means I'll be back. read more

Sweet tea and Arnold Palmer's hit the spot on a hot summer day. Onion rings very good specially with mamba sauce. Enjoyed brisket sandwhich. Tender and no fat. Went there twice last week, first for breakfast, which was excellent, and then for lunch. Food was great both times, but the service left a bit to be desired the second time. Lunch seemed to be their busiest time, but if so, they might want to adjust the number of servers they have working; we sat outside because it was pretty full inside, but that essentially meant that despite the assurances, we got no service for a long time. Another couple came in well after us, and although they seemed to be somewhat more of regular customers than we newbies, they left after waiting for 15 minutes and not getting a menu. We stayed and got a lot of apologies, but the service only improved slightly. The food was still mostly very good (my chicken salad was quite tasty but the fried shrimp my spouse had was mediocre. The dessert, blueberry pie ala mode, was excellent.) The breakfast was top notch the first day, although it was disappointing that they were out of the short-rib dish, apparently a special of theirs, highly touted. G&A is killing it at this location, if my experience says anything about the average experience. They could use a bigger space - already. We arrived around 1:30pm and the place was packed. There's less than ten tables, and a counter. It has that whole diner ambiance, but without the diner car layout. It was bustling but the wait staff was on point, working together like a very well-oiled machine. You can tell that they spend a lot of time together, and have worked out a system that streamlines their work, but also makes the diner's experience stress-free and wonderful. The food was out to our table in a jiffy, and plentiful. And delicious. My boyfriend got a coney dog (I wanna say "all the way" - there was some cute phrased used that I told myself to remember, but... you know how it is) - chili, onion and mustard. He says that the chili was better than Ann's, for all you Glen Burnie people. He also had a brisket sandwich. He inhaled that. He said that the meat was more thinly sliced than what he has eaten at other barbecue places, but that it was still really good. My mother was DELIGHTED when the waitress told us they served breakfast all day. She had biscuits and gravy with home-style hashbrowns. I had a pulled pork barbecue sandwich, with coleslaw. French fries had to be ordered separately but totally worth it. Thrasher's-esque, making me wish there had been vinegar on the table. They have a great, and comprehensive menu. Plenty of options. My family and I were on our way from Philadelphia to Virginia and this little place came up on our map to stop for lunch. Attentive, gave us a quick history lesson on the place and made us feel very welcomed! Within 5 minutes, the owner Andy was at our table chatting us up, telling us about the food and how this restaurant was passed down to him generation after generation. We learned that G&A was featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. I went online and watched the feature afterwards, it was pretty cool. I'll say it looks like the owner stole Guy Fieri's hairstyle! It looks good Andy, not knocking ya! We got hot dogs, sliders, burger, French onion soup and fries. The fries really stood out, they are hand cut and double fried homemade style. These ain't your typical frozen deep fried jawns! The French Onion soup really stood out as well. Perfectly balanced and had slivers of short rib in it. Wasn't traditional FO but it was really good! Only adjustment I would make is to use thinner, crunchier pickles on the sliders. The thick cut pickles become too mushy and don't stand out or add anything to the burger. Andy, experiment with some different pickle options, see what you think! This small restaurant is doing a landslide business for both eat-in and carry out. The servers never stop moving. They all know their roles and do them well. There is limited seating in the dining room, 7 tables and 4 bar seats, and the outside offers more tables with protective screening. On a nice day, it is just perfect to eat outside. I ordered their landmark Coney Island hotdog, it came with homemade beanless chili, fresh onion pieces, and mustard. The hotdog roll was super fresh. All together, it was just right. This is the place to come for this treat. I added an order of French fries, they turned out to be fresh cuts & were cooked in peanut oil. Another treat! My husband ordered the Italian cold cut sub and it was also very fresh and tasty with just enough meat. They did offer a few specials in addition to the menu. It's sad that they had to move from their original location since they have been around so long. We came a couple weeks ago in order to get some Coney Island dogs since we were craving some hot weiners and they looked similar to Olneyville that we are used to in RI. The food came out quickly and everything was alright. It doesn't compare to a Olneyville New York system but it hit the spot enough. I have been a Baltimorean for over 22 years, in fact I've lived in Baltimore longer here in Baltimore longer then any other place in my life. I'm originally from Rhode Island which coincidentally shares a few traditions found here in Baltimore. One is that both states have numerous Duckpin Bowling Alleys. The other similar custom is folks from both places enjoy eating Coney Island Hotdogs. It doesn't get any better then G & A for Baltimore Coney Island Dogs and or Burgers. Many of you might remember that G & A was forever in Highland town. For many many years Generations of Baltimore Families flocked there for their Famous Fries with Gravy and to sample these Burgers and hotdogs. The whole operation recently relocated to a new address in Perry Hall at the Honeygo Plaza on Pulaski Highway. They still have a small counter and also offer ample outside heated seating. If you have never had a Coney Island Hotdog Before run don't walk to G & A to get a taste of old Baltimore. read more

This was our second time here for breakfast. I think we liked it even more this time around. The menu is much more than the hot dogs. They had appetizer specials. I had the delicious brunch burger cooked perfectly although it didn't come with any side. We also had a full breakfast meal at the table and the potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. Took rice pudding to go it's delicious. Homemade and fresh everything. The best part of the experience was the very friendly customer service. Heard about this place on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. My wife and I and our daughter were visiting the Maryland Zoo and decided to come here to eat and boy I'm glad we did. Don't let the size of the restaurant draw you away. We decided to sit outside and eat and a lot of the locals/customers that came in and out of the restaurant were so nice and even told my wife and I that we could eat inside and that there was a table inside the restaurant to eat but we decided to stay outside. The people who ate the restaurant told me that this is the best place to get lunch and breakfast and they were right. Anyway about the food the food was amazing and very reasonably priced. I ordered the cheesesteak and Coney Island hot dog which both of them were delicious. My wife got a cheeseburger with fries and she really liked her burger and we got a side of fries for our daughter because our daughter loves fries. We also got the fried pickles and they were really good you can tell it's homemade. We also got a side of gravy and ranch. The gravy was really good too you can tell it's from scratch. The ranch was really good too. The service was great the waitress was so nice and very friendly made sure we were ok. Another waitress that wasn't our waitress was around made sure we were ok too. I must say one of my favorite things about eating here was when the chef and owner Andy brought our food out to us and he was so nice and very friendly and I had a little talk with him. All in All I would most definitely come back and eat here again. Generally the food is good. I came for breakfast and thought I ordered a breakfast that included sausage gravy. The waitress asked if I wanted to add a side of gravy and I did so. It wasn't good, just watery gravy in a very small portion cup. When I got the check I was shocked to see I was charged 5.95. I've eaten here several times and like I said the food is usually good. But the waitress saw I hardly touched the gravy and didn't offer to do anything about the charge. Maybe if they included a biscuit it would have been a fair price. This has to be one of the friendliest places in the Baltimore area. Everyone is helpful and very invested in making sure that you enjoy your meal. They are well known for their Coney Island Hotdogs & French Fries with Gravy. While both of these are very good, my standout meals have been the Beef Brisket platter and the Eggs Benedict, which is a brand new item. This is also one a few places that can make good home fries. You'd be surprised how many restaurants, especially those that tout themselves as diners, cannot make good home fries. Was looking forward to this place opening and finally got to try it. Ordered 2 Coney Island dogs (as fixed on the menu ...chili onions and mustard) and fries. The fries seemed overpriced to be honest at $5.50. While waiting for my food I noticed the fries and gravy was only $.45 more so I asked to change my order to fries and gravy. They graciously didn't charge me the difference. The owner popped his head out specifically to tell me I made a great choice with the fries and gravy. He was right! They had super fresh potato flavor and delicious gravy. I'm pretty sure I would have been disappointed with just the regular fries.
