Went to Silver Pond to have some dim sum with friends. Since this was my first time, I did not know what to expect. So, there are no carts running around with the dim sum. There's a dim sum menu and you choose what you want and they will bring it to your table, I am assuming, they made it to order, since we waited a bit for the different foods. There were two waiters helping all tables and they were not overly friendly. They also brought a teapot, not asking first, which type of tea we wanted...We got jasmine tea. This is my feedback on what we got: - Shrimp dumplings (har gao). Nice thin wrapper, not a lot of flavor. Shrimp did not taste like much at all. 7/10 - Pork dumplings (Siu Mai). Tasted bland, not very flavorful. 6/10 - BBQ pork bun (Char siu bao). Nice soft bun but with very little pork filling. 8/10 - Ginger chicken bao. Soft bun, but almost no chicken inside 7/10 - Pan fried turnip cake. Good tasting. Very oily. 8/10 - Shrimp with eggplant. Nice tasting dish. 9/10 - Sticky rice in lotus leaves. This Chinese tamale dish came as two small ones instead of a large one. It had Chinese sausage and pork inside. Rice was nice and sticky. 9/10 - Steamed sponge cake. Not like other places, brown instead of yellow. A bit denser than others. 7/10 Overall not a bad dim sum place, but not like one that you would find in New York, Atlanta, San Francisco or Chicago. I guess our Chinese population is not large enough for top notch dim sum chefs. Not bad though.....

4/23/22 Another wonderful dinner at Silver Pond. The food is consistently good. Tonight we ordered something different, the shrimp with salad dressing sauce. It was very similar to a dish that we have enjoyed in the past.

My family took me here claiming it was one of the best dim sum places, but quite honestly coming from LA I would rate this as sub-par. The dough part of the soup dumplings could've been more on the delicate side, and the rest of the food tasted oily. I did want to like this place considering the restaurant was spacious and looked clean. Unfortunately it was a miss for me.

I'm in the restaurant business & Love this place . Forget about elite Yelpers begging for extras. This review is coming from someone that owns 2 Restaurants & won Best Of @ both spots! Silver Pond Rocks! Jalapeño soy (Chefs Special), Hong Kong Duck , Salt Pepper Squid/Shrimp & Beef Chow Fun! Insane Joe has been serving over 25 years & is awesome!

Starting the morning with some dimsum! This place has one of the best shu mai's I've ever had! The size was pretty big compared to other traditional places and pork/shrimp ratio was great. We've also had short ribs, chicken feet, crispy shrimp ball, sticky rice in lotus leaves, and variations of dumplings. All of these were tasty and not overly oily/salty. One thing I didn't like was the Shrimp rice noodle rolls (aka shrimp crepes) the skin was pretty thick. Now if you care of the interior and sanitary of the restaurant... the place is older and the bathroom is dirty. The dining area is kept clean but you can tell it's been years since an interior update.

GOOD NEWS! One of the Chefs at Gold Marques Chinese Restaurant in Pembroke Pines (a really excellent place that we have been to) bought out the Silver Pond Restaurant. Excellent food we went there tonight! They are also going to be starting DIM SUM in the near future for lunch!! If the service here is as good as it at the Grand Marques then folks I think We can all look forward to many more good years of fine Chinese dining. We wish Mama Hui and her Chef Husband and their 2 sons Kevin and Eric all the very best (not forgetting Aunt Joyce who is behind the counter) WE WILL MOST DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!

Silver Pond lives up to its legendary hype! This was my first time here and I've heard many rave reviews! We finallllly made it. We ordered Hong Kong duck, sizzling beef with black pepper, shredded chicken pan fried noodles and shrimp fried rice. Between the three of us, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and a lot of it went home. I haven't had this delicious of a meal since.... Toronto. This is South Florida's finest.

I picked up takeout on my way home from sawgrass based on yelp reviews. For this, I thank you all!…read more I am happy to report that after 10 years of searching Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale near where we live, I have FINALLY found some SERIOUSLY GOOD CHINESE FOOD! I ordered the boneless ribs, pork egg rolls, chicken chow mein, beef lo mein, and pork fried rice. Everything was spectacular! Nothing was greasy, not one bit, not even the egg rolls. I'm a truly happy human. Takeout only is my opinion. And drive there with a friend, the area's a little--questionable. The person who took my order--efficient. The woman who took payment upon arrival--equally efficient, happy, and polite. My husband says: "I love it!" I'm glad we found our place.

My husband and I saw a video posted on social media about this Chinese restaurant. Of course so did…read moreso many other people and the night we decided to show up, they had run out of chicken. SO obviously we took that as a sign that the food was good. I heard a few people who appeared to be regulars express frustration because the viral video has now made one of their favorite spots sell out and the too quickly. I waited a few days and decided to go back. I got the honey garlic lemon pepper wings with fried rice. I was not disappointed yall. The rice is like old school fries rice. No veggies, just bean sprouts and onions. Perfect. All I need. The wings were nice size, fried and sauced perfectly. I'm shock at how many reviews say the opposite. Normally after Chinese wings are friend, the meat turns yellow. I don't like that, but these, we love and have returned multiple times. Definitely a must try. I suggest you order ahead to cut down your wait time.

I was not disappointed with the flavor and strange combination of fried gyoza. I asked the server how long they have been open and he said 8 months but I see Yelp pics and reviews dating back at least 3 years. Someone must have told him the wrong information but no matter, we are just glad we finally found it. We went with the classic Shoyu Ramen with nishu beef and black garlic. I was over the moon when they touted a 12 hour chicken broth soup base. Every ramen shop I have tried to get ramen from has a pork based broth which I do not eat. I'm finally able to have ramen and boy it did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly al dente and had a satisfying chew with every bite. The broth was so flavorful with the bamboo shoots, bean sprouts and all the slow cooked fats and oil from the chicken broth and the nishu beef, which was tender, thinly sliced rib-eye meat, I suspect. All this topped off with a perfectly cooked soy marinated egg. What an amazing flavor combination. The takoyaki appetizer was also delicious. Biting into the crispy exterior, you are then met with a soft and tender interior filled with chunks of octopus. The balls sat atop Japanese mayo and was drizzled with delicious takoyaki sauce. All it was missing was the katsuobushi which would have elevated the takoyaki flavor. We also ordered the Mala Shrimp which was on the Chinese menu and did not come with rice. That had to be ordered separately. Food came out quick as we were the only patrons apart from another table outside and service was good until a large party sauntered in and the server became inundated with requests. All in all, we will definitely be back to try out other menu items.
