"Let's drive the extra 15 minutes, we haven't been there in several years." Instead of our usual Pho Gia Vi, we decided to give Noodle House in Lauderdale Lakes another try. The main reason was one particular soup they serve that you don't see very often locally: Tom Cua, a crab and seafood soup with egg whites, surimi, shrimp, and I believe squid. It's a nice change from the usual pho options. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal reminded us why we haven't been back in a while. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night. The rocket shrimp appetizer had been overfried, the egg rolls in Rachel's bun dac biet were noticeably overcooked, and the grilled shrimp on top were dry from being cooked too long. My lemongrass beef arrived with far more onions than beef, and the beef itself was on the tough side. None of it was inedible, but compared with the consistently excellent meals we've had at Pho Gia Vi, it just wasn't close. The Tom Cua was the one dish that justified the trip, but everything else ranged from average to disappointing. I'm glad we went back because it answered the question of whether our memories were accurate. They were. We'll stick with Pho Gia Vi from here on out. It's closer to home, more consistent, and every visit leaves us happy. read more

What a find! A hole in the wall vibe with Vietnamese staff and patrons. Plenty of parking in the strip mall. Very tasty food - I got the chicken vermicelli bowl. It had a sweet teriyaki flavor with real grill marks. Lots of chopped veggies, and perfect texture noodles. A vinegar sauce comes on the side but I didn't need it since there was plenty of flavor already. My husband got a stir fry type dish with rice that he liked a lot. The Pho broth was good, (not the best but good). The meat was super tender and of great quality, as well as super generous with the portions. The fried chicken wings were cooked to perfection, soft and juicy on the inside and extra crispy on the outside. She customized my summer roll and it came with a light peanut sauce, not my preference because I prefer heavier peanut sauce. the summer rolls were super fresh, which is kind of important considering it's raw lettuce and shrimp. And the filet mignon fried rice.. the fried rice was basic and not notable but the filet mignon was PERFFECTION! I wish I could order it à la carte. The place was CLEAN. I forgot to take a pic because I was starving, but I loved how they prepared my to go order. They had the broth in a tall plastic container and the veggies, chicken, bean sprouts, and other yumminess in a plastic plate beautifully organized with everything looking very fresh. Once I got to my room and combined everything, it was on and popping. Everything blended well together and tasted delicious. The pho was very satisfying as I slurped and chewed everything down to the last drop. lol If you're in the area, definitely check this place out. Noodle House offered to guide newbies to the cuisine, and while I speak basic Veit Restaurant (Banh Mi, Banh Mi-Pho, summer roll!) I thought it would be good to have a guide. With basic sharing of my likes the waiter suggested a Bun, which doesn't come in a bun and may mean bowl in Vietnamese , and would have pork, noodles and a bit of sweet sweet heat. Service was fast. This restaurant is very clean and they must have removed some tables because they are all very far apart, the Spring rolls were exceedinkgjy fresh with pork and shrimp and peanut sauce with a beautiful garnish of crushed peanuts.
