Working with their CEO, Elizabeth was a delight as she worked hard to help me create the perfect menu for the event. The passed appetizers were instant crowd-pleasers--the chicken cigars were dangerously good, the seared ahi tuna was fresh and beautifully presented, and the wagyu bites were a total showstopper. People were literally tracking down servers for seconds (and thirds). The stations took things to another level. The pasta station was a hit with everyone, the Vegas carvery felt indulgent and on-theme in the best way, and the dim sum station added a fun, unexpected twist that guests kept talking about. It struck that perfect balance between comfort, flair, and "wow" factor--exactly what you want at a casino party. If I had to offer one small note for creative rework, it would be the tacos and tamales station--and that's probably my Los Angeles roots talking. They were solid, but in a city where tacos and tamales are basically a competitive sport, that section just didn't quite hit the same high bar as the rest of the menu. The food delivered looked nothing like what is shown on their website. For $1,900 what arrived was disappointing in looks, amount AND taste. Would have been better off ordering salads sandwiches from Mendocino Farms for a fraction of the cost. Sliders were the size of a quarter, salads arrived already tossed and the Chinese chicken salad was done with purple cabbage and due to being dressed the chicken turned purple as well as the almonds. Caprese salad consisted of quartered tomatoes, mozzarella balls you get at the market and tossed in a bowl. Terrible presentation. Embarrassing is an understatement. I would NOT recommend using, it was an awful experience and when I called the Monday after the event they brushed me off and I haven't heard back from them. I used Bite Catering Couture for an event and, unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations. For $1,100, I received the setup in the attached photo, which was far from enough for the number of guests they calculated (I added extra sliders, still, not even close to enough). The presentation was lacking; the room temperature items weren't arranged in a way that was ready to serve as promised, so we had to rearrange things ourselves. Also, the truffle dipping sauce was incorrect, and we received something that tasted more like aioli. While the idea behind their menu is great, the portion sizes were extremely small! Most items were barely a bite, less than half a bite I would say. For the price, I expected higher quality, better presentation, and more substantial portions. Quality of the food was mediocre. Tea sandwiches came with a slice of turkey that looked like it was removed from a package. When dealing with a caterer I fully expect the turkey breast to be not processed deli meat. It definitely was. Our event was a 5yo birthday party and we discussed the specific fruits that would be included on the platters we ordered - parents will appreciate how important the fruit is at a kids party. The fruit platter was not what we had originally discussed and what was in the detailed proposal that Bite had provided. We had specifically requested pineapple and instead of pineapple a bunch of whole grapes were given to us instead. Grapes (which I'm sure were non organic that time of year) are way less expensive than pineapple and berries. Again, this was a party for 2-5yo kids. I made this very clear. Whole grapes are a choking hazard. On the proposal the platter was supposed to include summer fruits/berries. I'm a nurse and never would have Ok'd whole grapes at a kids party. The response from Bite was underwhelming. We spent over $3000k on food and it was meh. If you want something that looks better than it tastes then this is the place for you. read more

It took me a while to write this review, because I wanted to get it as right as Elizbeth and her team at Bite did for our wedding reception last April! My now-wife and I clicked with Elizabeth from the outset, and she and her team were easygoing and patient throughout the entire process, including negotiating last-minute guest count changes and the like. Her team's patience really shone through at our tasting, where we were nearly an hour late due to some time zone confusion. Despite having to stay late for us, the Bite team treated us like the most special people in the world, greeting us with French 77 cocktails (which became our signature drink at the reception) and timing all the courses just right. (Note: the tasting is on the pricey side, but it's worth it given the quality of food and service.) Elizabeth stepped up again the weekend before the reception, when she hopped on a call while on the East Coast to help us put our floorplan together. As for the reception itself, everything went off without a hitch, and the food was delicious! I loved my steak entrée, my wife loved the chicken jidori, and our guests especially loved the short rib tacos, the little figgy piggy sandwich, and the chocolate pot de crème. I've held off on writing a review for Bite Catering for a while but I think other potential clients should be clear on what to expect when doing tastings and negotiating the menus. Please note, we did NOT end up hiring Bite for our event, and ended up with a different catering company that fits our needs better. My fiance and I were on a hunt for a catering company for our wedding last year. By simply googling our then-potential venue, and "catering", Bite actually popped up as one of the search results (Yay, search engine optimization!). They were the first one I contacted because I was curious about pricing to get a full idea on the budget, while I was deciding on a venue. I'll start with the positives. I must say, I was very impressed with the responsiveness of our assigned coordinator. He was quick to respond as he's working to get the catering company on the preferred vendor list of the venue. It was great at first; he was giving us great ideas for the wedding and honest suggestions. He even offered to tagged along to our venue visits, which was totally unnecessary, but thoughtful. In retrospect, I feel really bad because he spent a lot of time with us. I think his tactic was to be very present... but it was to a point where it was slightly uncomfortable. My fiance and I truly felt really bad that we went with another catering company in the end. It felt like friend-zoning someone. But as time went on, we felt that our coordinator was being VERY pushy and aggressive to get our business. I understand that you'll get a lot of money but don't we deserve to take our time and make the right choice? The coordinator made several follow up calls and emails, as if he was micromanaging us. We scheduled a tasting, which was expensive... the coordinator kept justifying the time and labor to put into the tasting and almost acted like it was inconvenient? At that time we were living in San Francisco and we had limited availability for tastings. It almost felt like we were a hassle and was going out of his way for us. The tasting went okay, it was a little awkward and uncomfortable as well. I have only done one other tasting with another catering company so I'm not sure what the norm is, but he sat through the tasting with us.... as in, he sat at the table and watched us eat everything, our reaction, etc. and as reference, with another company we had our own privacy and then when we finished our meal, the chef/coordinator came out to chat with us. Even during cake tastings, the coordinator would leave us alone. So after every bite, he asked us how it was... of course we're going to give be polite as my fiance and I couldn't discuss privately. we were honest on some of the items though -- and for every constructive criticism we gave, he fired back with excuses. He blamed everything on the chef, how it wasn't stored properly (ie, the wonton is supposed to be crispier because it wasn't supposed to be stored in the fridge so it was a bit soggy), etc etc. Or this was overcooked, etc. all these comments... After more follow ups and questions, I felt he was getting passive aggressive with his email responses and I can totally imagine him rolling his eyes at us. Since Bite was one of the first caterers we did a tasting with, I informed the coordinator that we would like some time to think on the food and do some additional tastings. His response was: "Is there a reason that you are looking for another tasting? Was there something that you felt we did not do well?" I felt like he could have said it more nicely, as he has been with his correspondence. Imagine how uncomfortable we felt when we were questioned like that. I believe that companies should let their clients make an informative decision. We weren't doing tastings because we weren't happy with it and wasting your time; we wanted to try a few places. It's just like when you go to the store when shopping for clothes. You try two or three sizes and make sure it fits right. As we continued correspondence, he then said he was disappointed to hear our responses and that we sounded like we weren't interested. Again, we wanted all our options on the table. So, he suddenly said one of his colleagues has another wedding the same date as ours and so they'll work with them instead since we're not indicating any interest. Of course, all of this written passive aggressively. In the end, the whole process was uncomfortable. I've never worked with a vendor so pushy and it was a painful process. I wish we could get a full refund for the tasting. Had I known this would have been an unpleasant experience, I wouldn't have scheduled the tasting, nor reached out to them! EDIT: side note, be careful where you read reviews. You can see several of these are 5 star ratings with less than 10 reviews, which means they are probably fake. Same with WeddingWire. I wrote a review on them, but Bite Catering "refuted" it and it was removed because I didn't sign a contract with them. read more

Amazing experience with Bite Catering! I was looking for a catering service for my wife 40th birthday! I contacted multiple companies, and from the second I spoke with the event producer (Tres) at Bite Catering I immediately realized I didn't have to look anywhere else! Tres understood exactly what I was looking for, and put together a menu that didn't even need any changes. He made the process really easy for me and took care of all the details. The day of the event, they delivered on time, and everyone in the party loved the food, we couldn't be happier! Just want to let everyone know how FABULOUS Bite Catering was! I found them by searching for "high tea los angeles" and hired them for a shower. They did not disappoint! Bite (Jimmy) got back to me immediately after submitting my quote request through their site and was very helpful in figuring out what I needed for my event. I had contacted several other caterers and none were as helpful and responsive as Jimmy. The tasting was convenient and economical and really helped us figure out what we wanted. I was so glad I pre-paid the tip at the max amount b/c the man who delivered and plated everything was on-time and amazing--above-and-beyond! The food the day of the event was EVEN BETTER than the tasting--scones, desserts, tea breads, finger sandwiches, crudite, cheese! I have been craving scones ever since but nothing comes close to theirs!!! Everyone at the event asked about the caterer and the food, and I was happy to refer them to Bite. I so wanted to love this place---the rep was super responsive and helpful. My needs were simple---finger-foods for an afternoon gathering. I ordered 4 choices off the a la carte menu. The offerings looked lovely online. I picked them up the day before my event, brought them home, and was shocked. They were not just bite size---they were miniscule; so teeny I was literally embarrassed to put them out. They must use a wide-angle lens to shoot their 'bites' for their website---they look very different in person. The taste was just ok----not great, certainly not bad. No compliments from guests----not one. The fact that the fare didn't look appetizing, certainly didn't help. They were initially just going to serve our appetizers at the wedding but we ended up asking them to also staff/bus the evening, and they did so at a very affordable rate. The appetizers were perfect: I ate like six of the salmon bites and cheese + tomato bites, and the staff was very respectful and competent. I've been at many weddings in which staff and guests are on top of each other in the space, and I never felt like that with Bite Catering serving our wedding. They give you space but also help you out! We loved working with Jimmy, he is so funny and great to talk to. He always took my calls and emails throughout the process. Being from out of state but hosting my daughters baby shower here in California was slightly nerve racking trying to find the right caterer having no knowledge of caterers in the area. After some diligent research we chose Bite Catering. I couldn't have been happier having selected Bite Catering. The communication from the beginning was excellent. I received a reminder the night before stating when the food would arrive.The food arrived exactly when stated and was excellent. We did the High Tea and everyone raved about everything. The sandwich selection is very nice and versatile enough for all appetites, they have a good assortment of tea breads and desserts, the scones were SUPERB!We upgraded to the wooden serving trays and they were exactly what I was told they would look like and went really well with the shower theme and can be reused. Working with Robin and Bite Catering has been nothing short of frustrating. I contacted Bite Catering yesterday and requested a price sheet / sample invoice for our upcoming wedding. Robin responded and advised that "all of our invoices and pricing are custom to our client's needs," so she could not send a sample invoice. Understood. So I agreed to set up a phone appointment to go over our "vision," hoping that the additional details I provide will help her price everything out based on our needs. During our phone call, I told Robin that I am interested in getting the Latin-Inspired Buffet Dinner for our wedding (featured on their website) and asked if she could price out that menu for a 150-person wedding. She kept emphasizing that putting together a comprehensive invoice is labor intensive, and she would not be able to do so without getting a better idea of what it is I want for the wedding. So, I walked her through the entire menu, told her which dishes I want to include / exclude, and she was still reluctant to put together a proposal! When she advised that the cost would be around $65 / person, I told her I was comfortable with that price. However, I would still want to see a complete proposal (with labor costs included). She then said "we are a boutique caterer, and we don't compete on price." I just told you I am comfortable with the price. Is it that unreasonable that I want to see a complete proposal before I sign with a caterer? I don't understand why there was so much resistance on her end to provide something that every other caterer has been willing to provide without hesitation! Sounds to me like laziness - she doesn't want to do the work if I can't guarantee I will go with Bite Catering for our wedding. Well, I can't guarantee I will go with Bite Catering without seeing an invoice. There is a lot of competition in the wedding / catering industry. If you can't do something as simple as provide a proposal, then how can you expect potential customers to trust that you will be able to deliver on the day of? On to the next one.... read more

We had a wonderful experience with Bite Catering. I had a fairly small order ( 7 varieties of appetizers) to supplement a party we were having. Elizabeth was very kind, attentive and treated me like it was full catering job. The appetizers we ordered were delicious and beautifully displayed which elevated the cuisine and aesthetics of our event!
