Valley Veterinary Emergency Hospital and Referral Center - They would've put a perfectly healthy cat down if I would've said yes. That says a lot.

My husband finally got her outside and all she passed was blood. Called family members into action and within an hour were at the Emergency Vet Clinic. The receptionist, the Techs and Vet were nothing but kind, compassionate and loving to our girl and to our family. It's never easy, but EVC made it comfortable for everyone 4-legged and two legged. Thank you

Guilted us when we said we would like pain management and would take him home. Then took an hour to bring pain meds in, while telling us we might miss our opportunity for surgery if he went home, and if he did not get surgery he needed euthanasia. Got a second opinion, no surgery, steroid and muscle relaxer and crate rest. Dog was FINE in 4 days (but still on crate rest precautionary for 6 weeks.) Then today brought a sick puppy and the tech came out and asked me to sign a hospitalization form and give a $1500 deposit - BEFORE A VET EVEN SAW HER! I refused asked for an examination. Vet then came in and said they could tell they wanted to admit her - but she had NOT examined yet. Demanded an exam and fecal and fluids. Asked for supportive care so I coukd take her to my regular practice in the morning. Vet repeatedly asked if ahe could admit "for a few hours," and kept telling me puppy was probably going to die and I would end up bringing her back. Techs and vet were very rude when I asked for actual teating and exams. Never again.

I couldn't get him to take because he was so sick.. we ended up at Winchester Animal Hospital on December 19th. Dr. Duke took some took an x-ray determined he had mycoplasma in addition to pneumonia. I asked her if he was going to die. She said it was a possibility because he was a very sick dog. We received the best care and our follow up visit was today. It was all we could talk about was how well he was doing. He looks like a completely different dog. He's gonna continue on medication for two more weeks, but he's on the mend and it's because Winchester Animal Hospital gave him the care he needed. Julie Marsh

Despite the obvious severity of his condition, this was never communicated to me. When I picked him up, he could barely walk and had dark brown urine--clear signs of distress and a serious health issue. Shockingly, the staff failed to mention anything about his deteriorating state. Within less than 12 hours of picking him up, I had to take him to an emergency vet. There, he was diagnosed with a bloated stomach, a condition that requires urgent treatment. The vet recommended surgery, but it was beyond what I could afford. Had the staff at Winchester Animal Hospital reached out to me about his condition, I might have been able to coordinate the funds for his treatment. Ultimately, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him. He was suffering for probably several days. The lack of communication and insensitivity from the staff at Winchester Animal Hospital is appalling. They failed to inform me of his critical condition, depriving me of the chance to seek timely medical attention. Adding to the distress, they gave me his food bag back half empty, which was the last thing he wanted from the time he left Winchester Animal Hospital to the time we had to ease his suffering. I can't imagine that he ate anything. Their inaction and disregard for his wellbeing are inexcusable. I trusted them with my dog's care, and they failed miserably. Do not board here at all costs.

They went corporate which is a big big downfall for this vet. The staff don't even realize that their own services INCLUDE emergency care visits!!!! IT states on their website plainly!!! they refused me a few times for emergency care with excuses of" we are booked solid" and we close at 6!!!!"" and you have to bring your pet to the EMERGENcy vet."....just to walk into that place is 100 bucks!!!! These vets know they are crooks and tend to leach on your emotions at the time you need help for your loving pet. And the corporational ones are much worse..... Its wrong , inhumane and downright evil for people that are supposed to care for your pet at a emergency. They seemed to use my cats AGE too as a reason for not giving him an enema. As a Geriatric RN I already knew the risks....my own Mothers colon burst but it wasn't from food impaction it was from the horrid drugs that killed her intestines......... either way.?..I am well aware of the risks but the cat would either be put under for surgery and not survive it or die from a burst colon without it!!! so what choice is there?...ONLY GOD knows this. I wish I were back in NJ cause I had the greatest Holistic/Conventional Vet there in the world....came to the HOUSE TOO!!!! incredible doc and staff..and you didn't have a different vet everytime you went there... like at Apple , all I see are new faces since it went corporate. Such a needed service gone so bad . Very sad.(

My dog had surgery to repair his cruciate ligament (doggy ACL) two weeks ago at the Winchester…read morelocation of VSC. To say I was nervous about the whole ordeal for my dog would be a gross understatement. Knowing his anxiety and lack of trust with vets, my rescue pup was not the ideal candidate for a smooth and cooperative experience. His usual behavior at the vet is to hide under any available chair or table and avoid cooperating at all costs. He's just plain scared at the vet despite being a strong, brave breed. From the moment we checked in, two things happened - my dog was a little less scared than usual, and I couldn't stop crying at everyone who I encountered. Jessica, who checked us in, didn't bat an eye at my pitiful emotional state - she was encouraging and empathetic. Sarah, the tech who we met with first...my 60lb. dog tried to climb in her lap and wouldn't stop licking her. He loved her. And so did I, because she didn't care that I sobbed through our chat about why we were there, how my dog was doing, and I mostly loved her b/c my dog loved her and wasn't afraid. Sarah took my dog to the back to be evaluated, and he willingly trotted along beside her. He did the same thing when we came back to have his stitches removed. Who is this dog and what kind of spell is he under to trust this person so much??? Sarah is a dog whisperer, and she is my favorite. She walked us out to the car both times we have been there so far - just to be helpful and loving. Next, we met with Holly, the surgeon. Holly is just plain impressive. I had a two page list of questions and concerns about the pre-op, surgery, and recovery process. I cried through those questions, and she patiently and expertly answered every single one. Oh, and my dog didn't try to hide from her either. She reassured me that she had plenty of experience with his breed, with nervous dogs, and had no concern at all. By the end of the consultation, it was clear that my dog needed the surgery, and that this was the best possible team to perform it and care for my dog. I left him to their care that day. I had asked Jessica from the front office to call me when his surgery began, and when it ended so I could be in the loop and know how he was doing. She did exactly that, and it was so valuable and appreciated by me to know that she cared, and to know how he was doing. When his surgery was over, Holly came out and spoke with me directly about how it went, what she found once the surgery began, etc. I could not have felt more relieved - both that my dog was OK, and with the expert care Holly had given him. I'm a critical person when it comes to the ones I love. There is not one single criticism I could possibly come up with when it comes to how this all transpired. Quite the opposite - I was so immeasurably, pleasantly surprised with how things went, and how they have gone since. My dog's recovery has been unbelievable to watch. If we would let him, he'd sprint a mile right now, two weeks post op. Any question or concern I have had since the surgery, I have been able to either call or email the staff and get an immediate response. This has been unreal to me. To have direct, easy access to them is so reassuring, and so valuable. If you are considering where and who to trust with the care of your pet in a surgical matter, do yourself and your pet a favor and go to VSC Winchester. You and your pet will be so grateful that you did.
