One of our favorite playgrounds. It's always clean and shaded. Not so many cars passing by around and a lot of greenery around. If you have two kids and need to watch them and not to worry- I think it's a wonderful little playground. read more

I have been here plenty of times to justify this review as we are here every weekend for my kids' soccer meets. Here's my pros and cons list: 1. First and most important to me is, it's clean!!! No trash on the ground, no graffiti on the playground, bathrooms are clean too. 2. There are two jungle gyms, one for big kids and the other for littles. There's a lot to keep the kids occupied and active. 3. There's a lot of grassy area that is well maintained. It's great obviously for ball games and I've also seen people bring their dogs to run as well. 4. The parents I've encountered have all been pleasant. 5. There's ample amount of parking. 6. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping close by. The 215 freeway entrance is not too far either. I'd say my only con I've seen is that there have been some inconsiderate pet owners who don't pick up after their dogs. So I've had to watch where my kids step because I'm not a fan of scraping poop off shoes. read more

Good walking paths paved and unpaved, playground, grassy lawn area, baseball diamond (not for public use I don't think), picnic tables and benches. Parking lot can get busy during school pickup and drop off times. read more

A Gateway to the Pittman Wash Trail.    Silver Springs Park is both a 12-acre neighborhood park and trailhead to the Pittman Wash Trail. It is located on the north side of Silver Springs Parkway between Green Valley Parkway and Valle Verde Drive. It is in a neighborhood that feels more like a small town than a neighbor of the Entertainment Capital of the World. The upshot is that Silver Springs Park is a peaceful and safe park. Although there is no silver spring, the park is a trailhead to the perpendicular Pittman Wash and parallel trail.   After living in my North Green Valley community since 2006, this year was the first time that I walked from my home along surface streets then walked through Silver Springs Park and onto the Pittman Wash Trail. I'd do it vice versa. If you are unfamiliar with the northwest part of North Green Valley, the Pittman Wash Trail is the closest trail to the area making it the home trail of the community. From my first-hand experiences, I will review Silver Springs Park as 1. a neighborhood park and 2. a trailhead to the Pitman Wash Trail. 1. Neighborhood Park      When I walked around this park, I was impressed with how clean it was. I spotted zero graffiti, litter, and vandalism. The park seemed safe. At the times of my weekday morning and afternoon visits, the park was bustling with the sounds of children enjoying recess in the bordering elementary school. Inside the park there was always a parent with their child in the playground. I did not see any shady activity. And speaking of shady, I did not see much trees. In comparison to other nearby parks such as Foxridge there are less trees here. Regardless the park is attractive. Throughout my morning walk, the sprinklers were at work keeping the open grass golf-course green. Where the ball field, volleyball courts, picnic tables and multi purpose fields were empty, the walking paths always had a pet parent walking their fur ball. This is a fur ball friendly park. It is also a hiking friendly park thanks to its connectivity to the Pittman Wash Trail. So, from the playground I followed the white line across the parking lot and Silver Spring Parkway then continued south on it a short ways between the swimming pool complex of the Silver Springs Recreation Center and the tennis courts. With the shady amphitheater in front of me I'd step onto the Pittman Wash Trail. 2. Trailhead to the Pittman Wash Trail.   Silver Springs Park is a gateway park that brings hikers and bicyclists onto Mile Marker 1.5 of the Pittman Wash Trail. This is one of the most scenic and shady spots of the trail that features breathtaking drop-off views of a natural wash winding through a natural canyon. This is a paved and lighted trail that leads to the Arroyo Sports Complex and Cornerstone Park to the southeast and Pebble Park, Pecos West Park, and Eastern Avenue to the southwest. It connects to the business strips of Pecos Road and Eastern Avenue that includes a fair share of restaurants. Throughout the years I have used the Pittman Wash Trail to eat in the nearby Pecos Road Burger King and Arby's. Pecos Road is approximately 1.5 miles from Silver Springs Park. My favorite Silver Springs Park walk is turning left onto the Pittman Wash Trail headed southeast. The trail gradually heads downhill above the natural wash. Just a note: Between Pecos Road and Valle Verde there are lower hiking trails that travel through this natural landscape. Approaching Arroyo Grande a concrete wash replaces the natural wash. After Arroyo Grande, the Pittman Wash Trail enters the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex where it forks to the left a few hundred feet northeast where it ends at Santiago Drive. From this point I cross over the Pittman Wash and turn right onto the walking paths of the sports complex. To the right of the ball fields I continue southbound on a discontinuous segment of the Union Pacific Railroad Trail that tunnels under American Pacific Drive. After turning right under the Union Pacific Railroad tunnel, I am in Cornerstone Park walking along the shoreline of Railroad Lake. At the end of the park, I turn left on Wigwam and follow it a few hundred feet to the Stephanie Street Starbucks or restaurant such as Raising Cane's to pause from the adventure before heading back. It is on account of being both a nice neighborhood park and gateway park to Pittman Wash where I have enjoyed many hiking adventures that I rate Silver Springs Park four stars. read more

There is always something great going on at Silver Springs Park in Henderson! They have a huge pool for swimming lessons and lots of other classes. Often I run through the trails of Pittman Wash and hear the seniors in the pool splashing along to their leader, doing pool aerobics or something. There is a covered play area for kids, big planes of empty grass for you to run with your dog or take on a small game of wiffle ball :) lots to do at this perfectly manicured park. We stumbled upon this very cute park while house-searching in Henderson. Located close to Gibson Elementary, this adorable park apparently has been renovated and in good condition. It features lighted ball fields and tennis courts, a covered picnic shelter and picnic tables, multi-purpose playing fields, two little playgrounds for kids, and even an amphitheater! It was very hot today to stick around for very long, but we'll definitely be back when there's better weather! read more

Excellent neighborhood park with a playground, some short paths, a grassy field for play, and a softball field. The park is right along Silver Springs Parkway with a newer playground and jungle gym installed on top of recycled plastic spongy mats (where was this when I was a kid? It could have saved numerous cuts and bruises). A small path runs along the playground and around a grassy field, where you will often find a small soccer or football game, kids running in circles, or a Boot Camp classes getting in a tough workout. The path continues along some desert landscaping and trees and wraps around a full-size softball / baseball field. During the spring, there will often be a youth-league game being played on the field. But in the off-season, it's a good spot to practice fielding ground balls. All in all, it's a nice spot to bring the kids to play, have a picnic, or have a walk. read more

Not very good for kids around 2-3 years old, the structure for older kids is too close and open to the little ones, and the park is not well covered, its hard to enjoy it with the heat. Also, the sprinklers keep going on very frequently, so the kids cant even play in the grass or they get completely wet. Not my fav park at all. read more
