I received three parking tickets in the mail which threatened that if I did not make payment, I…read morewould be submitted to a collections agency. A wildly excessive $55 fine for each ticket. Two tickets which happened when my young son got very sick and we had to abruptly leave the premises to take him to the doctor.  I contacted the parking revenue recovery services asking for some leniency due to my situation but was denied. Two of the tickets I actually paid for parking but was slightly off by some time when renewing the time. I never intentionally parked without paying. I have never had such issues with parking before. I don't know what's going on with the parking systems in this garage but I refuse to park here ever again.

The main problem in this area is definitely the parking situation with 2 - 3 hour max spaces unless you can find municipal parking lots. The area mimics Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale or Mizner Park in Boca Raton.

Rocco's Tacos, Elizabetta's, Le Colonial, Mussel Beach, Taki Omakasi, Lemongrass, the Wine and Spirits Kitchen, Vic & Angelo's ... are among many delicious restaurants that usually have full tables. There are lots of parking lots, we've never had an issue finding a free parking spot on the street. Atlantic Avenue gets busy at dinner time and there's a nice nightlife here as well. There were many businesses for rent, shops & restaurants turn over frequently.

I recently came to the plaza to dine at the brand new Ah-Beetz New Haven style pizzeria. Parking was plentiful and the plaza looks well maintained but a little dated. Still there is a nice mixture of places to eat and services. These kind of strip malls are very common in this area of Delray Beach. It is pretty much like all the rest.

The public library, Silverballs Arcade, Amtrak/Tri Rail and the Ray Hotel are strategically positioned near the sought after Pineapple Grove Arts District.

We hosted my daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner this weekend at the Rosewater Rooftop Bar at the top of the Ray Hotel with views of most of Delray.

This marker along Delray Beach has seen better days since it was installed. The paint is faded and…read moreworn, which is understandable since it is literally right next to the beach and so it gets scrubbed by sand and salt day in and day out. But it still stands, pointing out a bit of history and drama that is now over a century old. There is parking nearby and don't forget to feed the meter. The marker reads, "The old shipwreck know as the Delray Wreck rests at the bottom of the ocean in 25 feet of water about 150 yards offshore the south end of Delray's municipal beach. The wreck is broken and scattered into five sections and has long been one of the most popular diving spots in South Florida. "The S.S. INCHULVA was grounded and wrecked by a fierce hurricane on September 11, 1903. Under the command of Captain G.W. Davis, the 386 foot steel hulled British steamship was bound for Newport News, Virginia from Galveston, Texas carrying wheat, cotton, lumber and a crew of 28 men. "The storm struck about 5 p.m., tossing the ship and causing the cargo to shift. Steering became impossible, so Captain Davis put out both anchors, but to no avail. The anchors parted and the INCHULVA grounded and was ripped apart. Nine crew members were lost. "Dawn revealed to the battered crew that land and a town were just a short distance away. By noon, all the men except Captain Davis and two mates had landed on shore in a small hastily-built raft. They found hot food and coffee at the Chapman House, a local hotel, where many of Delray's residents had taken shelter during the storm. "The nine seamen who lost their lives were buried on the ridge overlooking the ocean where the ship had gone down. The surviving crew members were treated, paid and sent to New York. "Before leaving for their homes, each crew member signed the guest register of the Chapman House. Under their names they wrote, "Shipwrecked in the S.S. INCHULVA, September 11, 1903, landed on a raft September 12th and received every kindness and attention at the hands of Mrs. Chapman." "Captain Davis, his Chief Officer, a 2nd Officer and a seaman from the ship were brought before the Naval Court held at the British Vice Consulate at Jacksonville on September 19th. The Court exonerated the Captain and the crew from all blame." This is marker number F-327 and it was erected in 1980 by the Historic Palm Beach County Preservation Board in cooperation with the Florida Department of State. I stopped by the library looking for a specific book, but unfortunately they didn't have it…read moreavailable, so I'll have to borrow the e-book instead. That said, I was genuinely happy to walk into a physical library. There's something comforting and nostalgic about browsing the shelves and being surrounded by books. While I'm sure many people rely on digital resources these days, I'm grateful that libraries like this still exist and continue to serve the community. I hope they'll be around for many years to come.

The Plaza at Delray is home to an impressive lineup of anchor tenants such as Publix, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Rack Room Shoes, Ross Dress for Less, LA Fitness, Ulta, Michaels, CVS, Longhorn Steakhouse, IHop, Duffy's and as well as established local independent restaurants, personal services and some physician offices. So, this is a place where you can get some grocery shopping done after your workout.

There's ample parking and not as many shopping carts strewn about the lot as I typically see in other parking lots. Between the anchor stores are multiple small stores and restaurants. If you need anything else, there's another large plaza right across the street that includes a SteinMart and Panera Bread. Enjoy!
