Damaged stucco and a poor repair attempt.
Steve Y.

Update: They communicated to Project Solar that the installation was complete, but this wasn't true. The panel is still not derated, nor is the 175 amp breaker installed. They also scheduled an inspection and pulled a plumbing permit, so the inspector wouldn't inspect the solar system (which would have failed anyway because the panel isn't ready). Lot's of miscommunication even within the company itself. Update: They have completed the installation, but failed to properly repair my stucco, nor tell me why they redid some of the work previously completed. Communication continues to be poor. Update: They are in contact now with Project Solar and are trying to find the breaker. Silverline Solar is the solar subcontractor assigned to my project through Project Solar. The installation day went okay - they had some post-installation repairs to make but were overall accommodating. The main reason I'm ranking them only 2 stars is they left the job unfinished and haven't been communicative after the last day they were here. I understand why the job wasn't complete -- there is a breaker they couldn't find locally, so it needs to be special ordered. I was assured by the project site lead that they would be in contact about when they would be back to finish up. It's been almost a week and neither I nor my Project Solar rep can get ahold of anyone to give us an update. Hopefully, they'll see this review and realize they made a misstep and work to correct it.

They can do what work you need for a very resonable price compared to some of the high priced firms here in SF.

I really appreciate the direct accountability and quick resolution. I'm leaving my original review below for transparency, but their prompt response today restored my confidence in their management. I originally had a positive experience with California Solar Electric during my 10.12 kW solar and Powerwall 3 installation last year. Unfortunately, their post-install customer support and business ethics are nonexistent. I referred a friend who completed their installation months ago. I was explicitly promised a $500 referral bonus for this. After months of waiting, I tried following up multiple times privately to give them a chance to make it right, but I am now being completely ignored. It's a shame because I have several neighbors here in Fountain Valley who are currently shopping around for solar and battery storage. I was planning to refer them here, but I cannot recommend a company that fails to honor its own written agreements and ducks communication. Buyer beware: the installation team does good work, but do not trust a word management says about referral incentives or post-sale promises. Still waiting for my $500.

Thank you so much, NRG Power staff for providing superb customer support through a long tedious process for permits, inspections and installation.

Has a professional installation crew and executes flawlessly and everything stays on track. Incredible follow-up and will not try to upsell you like other installers. If you're looking to install solar, you should absolutely go with OneSun. Give Rose a call to at least get a consultation and I'm sure your interaction will immediately stand out from other installers. Installing solar is something I kept putting off. When I found out that the tax credit would be going away at the end of 2025, I realized I couldn't put it off any longer. One of the reasons I kept waiting was how annoying solar reps were. Clearly just sales guys who didn't actually know anything about the equipment, technology, and process. I did a bit of research on local installers and OneSun came up a few times, all with nothing but great things to say and especially highlighted the installer's knowledge and patience. Before reaching out to OneSun, I informed myself as much as I could to the point that I knew what panels I wanted, size system, even what inverters I wanted installed. My first phone call with Rose immediately proved that all of the positive feedback I had read was for a reason. She took the time to actually listen to the specifics of my project, what I was looking for, and what questions I still had based on my research. She took the time to answer every question and even went into the technical details that I was interested in. It was clear that she was extremely familiar with not just the logistics, but also exactly how a solar system works as well as the technical details of all of the components in a system. She had my business after that first meeting but of course I still did my due diligence and got a quote from one other local installer which also had similar reviews. Although the sales rep was very nice, it was clear that he was just a sales rep and only reinforced why OneSun was the installer to go with. OneSun's pricing happened to be better but even if the other installer would have come in at a cheaper quote, I would have still chosen OneSun for the install. Rose started the permit process in July and made sure that everything stayed on track, especially since I wanted to make sure that the system be on before the end of the year in order to qualify for the tax credit. The timelines she provided were right on point and the install was scheduled for September. About a week before the install date, there was an unexpected problem. The panels that were originally planned for my install had gone completely out of stock. There had been some kind of manufacturing issue and those panel would not be coming back in stock for another couple of months which could push the project out to the following year. Rose let me know she could acquire slightly larger panels for the project and install it on schedule. I was about to ask what the additional cost for the larger panels would be, but before I was able to, she let me know that there would be no additional cost to me. I'm sure any other installer would have used the situation as leverage to add additional cost to the project. A testament to Rose's commitment to her customers. On installation day, the crew was professional and efficient. They completed everything in one day and made sure to keep everything as clean and organized as possible. Towards the end of the install, I had noticed that they ran one of the grounding wires out from the attic and down the face of the house where I had planned on completing another project in the near future. I knew that the wire would need to be redirected if it was left there so I asked the foreman if he could run it through a different path. Initially he felt like it would not be possible given the layout. I reached out to Rose just to make sure and see if she possibly had another solution. About 10 minutes later the foreman showed me another possible option which was much better for what I needed. It may have seemed like a small thing, but that was another instance in which I believe any other installer would have dismissed my request as pickiness and told me there was nothing else they could do. Rose took the time to speak with her foreman and truly assessed the situation to come up with a solution that fit my needs. It took LADWP about 6 weeks to get my meter installed and for my system to be turned on, but it was still well before the end of the year (and yes, I just got my tax refund with that hefty solar tax credit). It's rare to come across someone like Rose who is honest, patient, and who truly has her customer's best interest at heart. Combine that with impeccable execution and communication, and there is no one else I would recommend for a solar install project. In fact, my parents are considering a small project and I've already told them about Rose/OneSun.

When I first contemplated getting solar panels for our house, the entire process looked daunting. I…read moredidn't know anything about the technology or equipment and I felt ill prepared to make any decisions about what our house needed. There are so many companies out there, it's hard to know who to trust. As soon as I did a few online searches, I was flooded with emails and texts from multiple companies with high pressure sales pitches. One company charged me $350 to do a site survey, just to get a quote for the project, then came back with a revised quote adding $7000 to dig a trench for electrical wiring due to "the location" of our electrical panel. I found OneSun on a yelp search and as soon as I spoke with Rose Avakian, I knew my search was over. This company stands out from the others. There was no sales pitch, pressure, or upsell. Rose explained the technology and equipment in a way that made it understandable and approachable. When her team came to look at our place, they found no need to dig a trench and simply connected to our existing electrical panel. Had they needed to dig a trench, the price they quoted was nowhere near $7000.  From start to finish, the entire experience was transparent, seamless, professional and expedient. The attention to detail and care the team put into making sure everything was done right far exceeded my expectations. If you're looking to go solar, look no further than Rose and OneSun. This is truly the best company I've ever worked with!

I'd highly recommend Solar Optimum and Roofing Optimum…read more We've had our solar system from Solar Optimum for more than 10 years, and our experience is a great example of why choosing the right company from the beginning matters. They installed a high-quality system that has performed extremely well over the years. At one point, both of our inverters experienced a manufacturer-related issue. In fact, Solar Optimum identified the problem before we even realized something was wrong. They worked directly with the manufacturer to secure a replacement inverter at no cost and handled the installation quickly and professionally. When it came time to replace our roof, we didn't hesitate to reach out to Solar Optimum again. Their GAF Master Elite certification and the advantages of having the same company manage both the solar and roofing work provided tremendous peace of mind. The warranty benefits are excellent, and the roofing warranty is transferable, which adds real value and is something many roofing companies do not offer. We recently completed a full solar removal, reroof, and solar reinstallation project with the Optimum team, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. The entire project was completed in about a week, exactly in line with the schedule that was provided at the start. The crews showed up on time, worked hard, communicated well, and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day despite the significant amount of work involved. From start to finish, the process was smooth, professional, and well-managed. It's rare to find a company that delivers this level of service over a relationship spanning more than a decade. We couldn't be more pleased and highly recommend Solar Optimum and Roofing Optimum.

I went with Solar Optimum mainly because of reputation. I also wanted to go with a company that…read morewasn't going to disappear in the next few years. There were cheaper quotes for the system I wanted, but they didn't quite meet the aforementioned requirements (one, although competent, was way too new to feel comfortable with). Another competitor, probably the biggest one in Southern California, came out for a presentation, but their package was strictly a lease and didn't make much sense at all for me. The point of solar panels is to save money, and the projected money I would save was completely offset by the monthly payment. So, I decided to buy my panels outright, along with the Tesla Powerwall 3. It all was pretty pricey, but I will qualify for the federal rebate since the purchase was before the end of 2025. At least that's what I think. I was assured that I would qualify if I had a fully paid invoice before the end of 2025; although there was some other talk about showing proof of operation before the year ended. Solar Optimum couldn't provide me with a definitive answer, but my CPA said a fully paid invoice would work just fine. We'll see. The whole process began around 5 months ago. It started off with a rep coming out for a site inspection in order to put together a plan for me. That went pretty smoothly. Communication was primarily via email and phone. Their main office is on the Glendale/Burbank border. I went a couple of times to drop correspondence off. Once they put the plan together and I signed off on it, the physical installation came a few months later. That took only a day and it looked pretty clean and professional. The next stage was for Edison, my electricity provider, to come out and install the adapter. But that took a couple of months for them to even get here, and when they did, it turned out they couldn't install it at all because the adapter was damaged. The installers had placed it in a bag, but didn't secure it properly. Unfortunately, water from the autumn rains got into the bag and damaged it. So, it took almost another month to replace the adapter and have another Edison tech come out to inspect and install it. The last step is to have the city come out to give a final inspection and to give the permit to operate. As of today, late December, the inspection has yet to be done and the solar panels are just sitting there, inoperable. I understand there was a lot of orders for solar as people were rushing to get their purchases in before the 2025 federal rebates ended. But it's been 5 months and I've already fully paid for a solar panel system that hasn't been even been turned on yet. I don't really blame Solar Optimum since I'm really on Edison's and the city's time, but it is frustrating having to wait so long. Once it is turned on, I'll update this review.
