This place was so tiny ! It was clean and inviting nonetheless. The server was sweet and attentive and my coffee cup was never empty. I ordered a basic bacon egg and cheese but I wish I had looked up at their special board because they had some great sounding items I would have preferred to try. The prices are absolutely reasonable and they didn't hold out on making sure I had a copious amount of bacon as an BEC should have. I'm in the area for work this week. I used the handy Yelp to find breakfast in the area. I found Joey B's. It's an old school diner feel with counter seating only. I went with huevos rancheros with a side of bacon. While it was good, I wouldn't consider it huevos rancheros as it didn't have any refried beans and instead of a tortilla it was served with an English muffin. Flavors were good though. I also got a side of bacon. Typically a side of bacon is more than just two slices of bacon. For almost $5 I'd expect a little more. My meal also wasn't consistently hot. Some of the potatoes were hot and some were room temperature at best. For my meal and coffee, it came to about $25 before tip. I feel that's a little too high, but it is what it is. The flavors are definitely there though. Service was friendly. read more

I picked Joey B's from reading Yelp reviews and was eager to try it out. It's a tiny place which I didn't see on any of the reviews I read, but don't let that deter you. You can pick from counter seating or a couple of outdoor tables. We sat at the counter and enjoyed the diner ambiance. We had the Chicken Melt with Chipotle Sauce, a Tuna Melt, a Greek wrap, a basket of Fries&Onion Rings, and a Cookies&Cream Milk Shake. Every was delicious. The portions were a bit on the smaller side but good nonetheless. The shake was tasty but could have been thicker. Seemed more like a shake I could make at home and not as thick as I expect to be getting at a diner. The waitress serving everything up was nice and was working nonstop. read more

Joey B's is classic CT diner food. They don't have any indoor tables, so you'll be sitting at the counter, like it or not. ;). But they have it sorted and can even get a high chair up to the counter if you bring a little one. The food is all solid and the vibe is fun. When I read about this little hole-in-the-wall about 4 months ago, I immediately put Joey B's on my bucket list. For starters, I read that Steve Cohen, the multibillionaire owner of the NY Mutts was a regular patron...for their hot dogs! Hoping to bump into Steve, and offer some baseball advice, I made the trek south from Windsor Locks to Cos Cob. Added bonus - my bff, Pots & Pans, was driving up from Astoria AND springing for two dogs. First of all, what a unique place. Ample parking and an old-fashioned "diner" in toney Cos Cob. A real throwback. Limited counter seating. No indoor tables and a few outdoor ones. We each ordered two New Yorker dogs (sauerkraut and spicy mustard). They slice the Sabretts lengthwise and grill them. The buns, I think, were lightly steamed. Very, very good, but a tad below some of the other hot dog places I've reviewed. Plus, a little on the pricey side....total bill, w tax, was $16.00, for 4 dogs w kraut. Hey, you're paying Cos Cob prices, but I felt bad for P & P. At least he paid his debt on this one, which is not always the case. If there is a next time, I'll have one of the breakfast choices. What a great find. My wife and I had a 10 o'clock checkout at our AirBnB in Stamford but our flight at JFK wasn't until 4:30. We thought about going early and eating at the airport but decided to find something close by. We're so happy we did because we found Joey B's on Yelp. It became obvious once seated that its family owned and operated. Mom & Son were working the counter (It's counter only) and the Son, who's name I failed to get (shame on me) was quick to greet us with a warm hello & welcome as we walked in the door. Now, let's get to the important stuff... the food! They do it all Burgers, Wings, Salads, Wraps, Shakes, and Breakfast too. We were there for breakfast and both of us ordered a 3 Egg Omelette called the "Cos Cob" (name of the city... where it's located, just south of Greenwich) which has American Cheese, Chili, and Bacon. It is served with your choice of bread for the toast and home fries. All made to perfection. The chili in the omelette had great flavor with a little kick to it. In closing, this place was on point. We were so impressed by the Son, who took the order and carried on great conversation as he worked the counter. Mom was cool too! They both delivered a 5 Star worthy dining experience. read more

This is a great place for sandwiches. The ambiance is that of a simple greasy spoon. The service is efficient and down-to-earth. This place really shines in terms of food. My favorite sandwiches are the grilled chicken melt and the chicken pita. The grilled chicken melt has grilled chicken, chipotle sauce, melted cheese, and bacon...yum! The pita has chicken, avocado, light pesto mayo, tomato, and spinach. It's very delicious. I have also recently become a fan of their Friday Fish Fry, particularly the fish and chips. You get two large pieces of fried fish with crinkle fries and packets of ketchup. It's some of the best fish and chips I've had in the area. The prices are a little high, especially for the fish fry, but it is right next to Greenwich, CT, and the food really is excellent. read more

I have to say that this is what I would consider an 'elevated' greasy spoon, and not because of some chic decor or inability to decide if it's a night club. The place knows what it is and nails it with fast service, and incredible food. Hands down this was my favorite part of visiting Stamford, and the Irish benedict will live rent free in my heart and mind for the rest of my life. If I could have a magic portal to just visit this place anytime I wanted, I'd have to get them direct deposit. I'm not overselling this either, Guy Fieri needs to get in there and yell money as he tries virtually anything. After driving around for almost an hour, we came upon Joey B's while driving down the Post Rd. into Cos Cob. We are from out of town and looked at yelp to decide where to each lunch. Yelp didn't let us down.... Great food, atmosphere and people! The food came out fast. Kids enjoyed the mac n cheese bites. Salad was perfect and my mom got the mushroom burger. It was juicy and just the right size. They had a multiple bean vegetable soup that was delicious! Found this quaint little place on Yelp while visiting the area from out of town. First thing we noticed was plenty of parking which is always awesome! The restaurant is small and only has counter seats and a couple of benches at a window ledge. There is a pickup area at the counter where we saw folks come in and leave with their orders. We were able to grab a couple of benches at the window. Also, there are tables outside in front of the restaurant. Because there's only counter service, we had to order at the counter and take our food over to the window ledge where we sat. The menu is extensive and had a great variety. We didn't know what a wedge was, but it turns out it's the local word for a sub (or, as I call it, grinder). Hubbie got one of the chicken wedges and polished it off, said it was very good. I got the Justin's Salad and oh, wow, was that good and filling! We found the prices reasonable for the quality of food, but maybe just a little more than we thought we'd pay at a diner. Still, we left happy and satisfied. Definitely recommend this place for a good meal and no pretension. read more

After a rather disappointing visit to the accountant, we needed a pick-me-up and thanks to Yelp we found Joey B's! While this place is tiny (my only complaint and that I had my coat on the whole time - I'm always freezing and it's winter so definitely not their fault), their food packs a punch. The Hungry man (I think that's what it's called) - 2 meats, 2 eggs, some delicious melt-in-your-mouth pancakes, divine potatoes and toast - kept me satiated for the whole day.
