This is the "go-to" deli in New Canaan. That is where the problem starts. The staff is in too much of a hurry to pay an ounce of attention. This is especially true when you call in orders. Most of the time I have to call back to continue my order because they hang up the phone before you can finish ordering your sandwiches. Now comes the rub. They are in such a hurry on the phone that they don't pay attention to the actual order so heaven help you if you have an allergy that needs attention. I get tired of having to go back an explain to them that the order you placed isn't the order you get. Now that 2 sandwiches cost $30 I think its time that the staff start to pay attention! If you are a local, you know Tony's is THE PLACE. Not upscale but my any means but New Canaanites love it. It's always hustling and bustling in the mornings especially on the weekends which is why usually calling in before is a better option than waiting in line. Been going here for years. They have so many awesome options. This is a local favorite with superb specialties. There are some great sandwiches that have been named after my friends - if you go often enough maybe you'll get a sandwich named after you! The food here was good. I bought a breakfast wrap it was $12 which is understandable because it's a New Canaan but the woman at the register was rude. I went back a few hours later to buy a Snapple but because I was using my debit card she told me I should get a pack of gum to because there's a minimum, so I actually had to put the Snapple back in the refrigerator and leave. both times The woman at the register was very rude and did not seem to care I have been to hundreds of delis in my life being a construction worker, this is one unfortunately I will never go back to , a few blocks away is club sandwich deli that's where I usually go. Love this place! This is where the locals eat. We go for breakfast usually, but the sandwiches at lunch are delicious and authentic, too. In the mornings we both get breakfast sandwiches. My favorite's the bacon, egg & cheese. My husband loves the one with pastrami. Both come on a fresh, soft roll that makes it soooo good. Service is downright friendly. My kids love the bacon egg and cheese on a roll and the meatball parm. I think they make the 2nd best bacon egg and cheese in Fairfield County. 2nd to Liz Sue Bagels I and II. We used them to cater for a football game and they charged us over $9.00+ per sandwich and the quality was only OK. We thought it was $95~ for 2 platters but it was really $95~ for 1 platter and we had 2 platters. $190+. Too late in the game not to pay up. But really disappointed by the experience. Very high prices even for Fairfield County. It's usually mayhem trying to pay. No clear line. They don't let you pay until the food is ready. The prices in this place are just ridiculous even for Connecticut. I should have known better. For an admittedly large wrap sandwich with chicken, pre-made salad, bottle of Bai, and a pound of Waldorf chicken salad I was charged $35. Seriously??? The sandwich was ok, nothing special. The best make your own salad ever at reasonable prices. I have my salad every time I'm working in New Canaan (2-3 days/week). I get romaine and kale with olives, tomatoes, red onion, avocado and goat cheese. Olive oil on the side. It is the absolute best!! read more

Rating 3/5 stars. Ambiance: dirty quick-e-mart. Nothing else to be said. Rating 1/5 stars. Menu/Food selection: a bit broad and disconnected. I would like to see them reduce the breadth of their menu and get decent at at least one thing. Rating: 1/5 stars. Quality of food/ingredients: awful, just awful. Bargain grocery store style lunch meat, greasy (not in the good Phillycheesteak kind of way) very few vegetables, bread seems like it was day old. Ordered breakfast for delivery this morning to surprise my mom for her birthday. I ordered pancakes and bacon platter; french toast and bacon platter; home fries, hash browns and curly fries. Delivery arrives missing home fries and french toast platter. I call to let them know and ask for redelivery of missing items. It is usually the RB Bandit (Chicken cutlet sliced with potato cones, blue cheese dressing, and hot sauce on a wrap.) I was on a bike ride and we stopped here for some water. I walk and take a bottle to the counter. The bathroom said out of service but that was because they are milking the covid situation. I ask politely if I could use the bathroom and they said you have to order $5 worth of stuff or you cannot!. Now no where was that posted so I guess the worker made it up or just wanted to be as rude as possible.
