Worth a detour!! We live close but rarely come in this direction. The few times we've been here we were pleasantly surprised. First, the service is impeccable. They are so polite and they want you to be happy. It's almost like your own little oasis of sushi, quiet and back in a corner away from the world. Second, the food!! I am picky about my sushi but I eat rolls here that I wouldn't normally eat elsewhere. Like spicy Tuna, SO good!! The last couple of times that we came it was near empty. It's odd but also calming to be the only ones in a restaurant. We were able to take our time ordering and didn't have to flag down someone for help. We will be coming here more often. This is my second visit. I live in Orange County but always make it a point to stop here whenever I'm taking a trip near the lakeside. The duck BBQ and acorn jelly are so good I had to come back again with my family. The location is literally in the middle of nowhere. I asked the owner about the banchan and acorn jelly, and he told me everything is made in-house, which you can definitely taste. This time we ordered the duck BBQ (오리 구이), seasoned deodeok (양념 더덕 구이), and acorn jelly (도토리묵). The grilled duck with the deodeok was the perfect combination. You can taste the pure, natural flavors of the ingredients. Nothing artificial or overly processed. Usually after eating out, I'm chugging water all day because the food is too salty or MSG-heavy. Not here. The flavors reminded me of real Korean home cooking! The space is very spacious and comfortable, making it great for a relaxed meal. They're only open on Mondays, Fridays, and weekends, so I'd recommend calling ahead to double-check before going. However, it brings back the memories of countryside Korea when I was young. The vibe was there and I loved it. The owner was friendly and kind. The food is absolutely top notch. I came here with a couple friends. Two of us paid $90 for 3 meals on the Korean bbq. The meat was rather tough. I got the belogi which I typically love but the sauce wasn't that flavorful and the meat wasn't tender. The ribs weren't that flavorful or tender as well. The chicken was ok. Each meat would be enough for one person. My other friend got chicken katsu. They kept saying 5 more minutes. His meal took 45 minutes for us to get. By that time, everyone else at the table was already done. We even told them 10 minutes before they brought it out that too much time had passed and we decided not to get it. With mountains to the right and a desert to the left; you might think this restaurant (in the smack dab of the 138) is a mirage. So decided to give it a try. Walking in was a bit awkward. No greeting and, after a few minutes, staff wiped a random table down and then gestured for us to sit. It was another 10 minutes before we were asked what we would like to drink. The service got more attentive once we spoke in spanish to our server. But if there is a big rush (more than 5 tables), expect a wait regardless. The restaurant is a bit stuffy (March time) so don't go in dressed warmly. To the left are tables with grills in the center and to the right front of the restaurant are wooden tables. Again, we didn't get to choose where we sat so maybe the table with grills is only available during dinner time?? Idk we visited around 12 to 2pm. Most customers seemed to either be regulars or people passing through. Afterall, lake arrowhead is only 30 minutes away. On to the food! Lots of items on the menu. To sum it up, we liked the chilean sea bass roll (sushi option) and the kalbi short ribs. Would order the latter again, if I come back. The shrimp crunch roll was okay. And was not a fan of the monkey balls or oysters. I feared the oysters would make me sick cause it was room temp and the taste was a bit of funky fish. To drink, nothing caught the eye. Stuck with lemonade just to sate the quench. When it came to the bill, the receipt doesn't show a breakdown of everything ordered. Run by a husband and wife duo, this restaurant is located a few miles off the 15 in Hesperia and specializes in duck BBQ. Naturally, we ordered some servings of the duck along with the sam gye tang and acorn jelly salad. After a weekend in Las Vegas, authentic home cooked Korean food is an absolute must and Silverwood Grill did not disappoint. The duck was fresh and never frozen. It tasted amazing off the grill. We enjoyed the duck with lettuce and perilla leaves, which is from the owner's garden. Afterwards, they served fried rice made with kimchi and dried seaweed. The sam gye tang is the Korean version of chicken noodle soup, but instead of noodles, there's rice, garlic cloves, dates, and ginseng. This was a nice way to end the meal, especially with a few shots of soju in between bites. The restaurant is very casual and could use an upgrade, but otherwise very clean and spotless. The owners were kind and treated us with great hospitality, so much so I felt like I was eating at a relative's home. read more

I had come with my family to enjoy lunch on a Saturday afternoon, but unfortunately the experience was not pleasant. The restaurant at the time was not very busy and we were seated quickly. Upon arriving I excused myself to use the restroom while my party started looking over the menu and considered ordering. Our expectation was to dine in for kbbq which is primarily advertised. When I had returned I was informed the waiter was somewhat unclear, rushing my family to order and seemingly appearing stressed. We had all wanted to clarify to be sure the order was correct and upon learning it wasn't we kindly asked to be switched over to the side we'd be able to grill our meat and enjoy the banchan side dishes. The waiter clearly became upset and ordered us to take our leave of the first dining section we were seated and switch to the grill section. As we followed we remained calm but confused as to why he was so irritated. The miscommunication stemmed from his lack of patience in explaining the menu to us as it was our first time dining there. He explained everything very quickly and that lead to the misunderstanding of having ordered a dish he had recommended but we weren't necessarily intending to order. Later having being sat down at the kbbq section he proceeded to grill the meat for us and deliver the side dishes, however he deliberately began to rudely toss the dishes which is where I drew the line and exchanged words with him expressing that was not necessary. We did not want him around after that fact. All in all to say the service was not amiable. When I also brought it up to the owners (I presume) it quickly became clear there would be no need to bring it to the waiters attention as he came over looking for confrontation in front of them and other patrons whilst I was voicing my concerns. Very disappointing. On the matter of food we enjoyed the freshness of the vegetable side dishes and the duck meat that was ordered. The sushi was confused Japanese Korean and the experience was a little underwhelming. Friend I ate here recently. I had been wanting to try it for a long time, but had only driven by. We ordered two rolls, tempura. We also both got the mixed chicken and katsu chicken. Everything that we received was expertly prepared and tasted excellent. I liked the sauce on the katsu. The chicken teriyaki was different but very good, not heavy on sauce, but the taste was spot on. Service was prompt, and everyone was helpful, We both liked the old style restaurant and interior. We ate here three years ago, and I don't exactly remember what we ordered, but everything we've ordered was delicious and beautifully prepared. Such a cool restaurant, and in such an unexpected location. It has a retro roadhouse, Baghdad Cafe vibe, but they serve fusion sushi and Korean cuisine. I asked the cashier where's the rolls I ordered. She admitted to given me a fried shrimp roll and a roll with eel. The third had no fish at all. I felt totally ripped off, the cashier even admitted to given me something else. I normally don't write reviews, but this was clearly wrong. The restaurant needs to be honest if they don't have the ingredients they shouldn't be putting it on the menu or they can tell customers certain items aren't available on the menu at this time. Our second visit, and we've wanted to try the duck for the longest time. Called ahead to make sure they were open. Very close to a healthy home-cooked Korean meal. Enjoyed and appreciated all the flavors, and the health benefits made it more worthwhile. Duck-- duck fat is healthier, containing mono and polyunsaturated fats. Deodeok-- a type of root that I heard is good for the throat. Price is reasonable and good enough for our family to make the long drive. Very much looking forward to going back! read more

We go every chance we get when driving through town. Their specialty is Korean Duck BBQ. The owner farm raises her own duck and there's nothing like it! Melts in your mouth. Their specialty sauce that you dip it in is unreal and the salad that came with the bbq was perfectly dressed and so flavorful. The owners here are so sweet! Love this hidden gem of a restaurant! Thanks to Yelp and YouTube, my family and I were able to dine here this past weekend to celebrate my sister's birthday. Located in the rural part of the desert city of Hesperia, the restaurant is right off of a two-way road. The amazing thing about this restaurant is that the owners (Mom & Pop couple) grow and prepare their own vegetables in a little garden out in the back. That's when you know the food is made fresh. We ended up ordering their signature duck BBQ with grilled deodeok (bonnet bellflower roots), two plates of salad, fermented soybean soup, and fried rice. It was so delicious and tasty that it reminded me of homemade, authentic, country-style food from Korea. The wife she did mainly everything but due to her poor health and age, they had to cut back on a lot of menu items and hours. They're now open only 4 days a week. My husband got the calamari appetizer and the chicken teriyaki lunch box. Love this random place, especially their duck meat and chicken stews! I've never tried their sushi, so can't review for that. Today was my second time here. First time was over 2 years ago, but have never forgotten this place because it was so good. We were worried they might've closed due to tough covid times, so was extremely happy to know they were still in business. I can see how people may feel the owner and grandma come off rude, but it is definitely a cultural difference where it is just the way they speak in their first language. I know they mean well. Service was excellent for us, and we did have to ask for many things, but they are busy and she is old, so we totally understand. They still did their best to accommodate and give us what we needed. Duck meat was just as good as the first time. Most tender duck meat I've had and the garlic cloves and duduck grilled to crispy goodness in the duck fat (cooked to perfection) is just so good I can't explain. Their side salad/greens is SO good. The sauce marinade is perfect. We couldn't stop eating it while waiting for the duck to finish cooking, the grandma jokingly told us to be careful not to get full off of it since we hadn't even gotten to the meat! Had about 3 extra bowls of that side salad during our meal. So good. Basically everything we ever tried here has been good. I was here about a month ago with my family--party of 8 so we did call a day before to let them know that we had a party of 8 and if we could have a high chair. We went right when it opened, the one of the older women waited on us and she was very attentive and tried to grill and make sure we had our side dishes and when she seemed busy, I asked if it's okay if I can grab a coke myself and she said we can grab anything from the fridge (that way we don't always have to call her bc we sat right by the fridge). The place does get busy 30 minutes into opening i would just recommend you come when it opens with a hungry stomach. Our service was awesome--not sure if it's bc we can speak Korean but other parties who weren't Korean I saw that she was attentive to them as well. I think if there's a language barrier you might perceive it differently (based on other reviews) but I felt like service was fine for such a busy place. Food: got a lot of duck--so delicious and I like over grilling the garlic. We also ordered this orangish root called duduck (?) that pairs well with the duck (at least for half of my family so it depends on your taste). I like to over-grill the duduck!! I will return for duck (since the only other tasty places are farther in LA). Just making a nice family trip to enjoy good duck makes it worth it for me.
