Traditional nigiri should have a small, lightly packed mound of rice that lets the fish be the star. Instead, it felt like I was mostly eating rice. We had ordered some nigiri and were met with a ball of rice underneath the thin piece of salmon. It was a ridiculous amount! We can always do two rounds when we go to other AYCE restaurants but we couldn't even finish round 1 from the heaping amount of rice that was used. The salmon was low quality as well and just made us feel nauseous leaving from here. Also, we ordered a baked scallop roll and there were about 4 pieces of scallops and it was cold. The restaurant landscape in The High Desert is harsh. I have yet to have my mind blown by any dining experience out here. So my bar, especially for sushi in the desert, is already very low. Yoshi in Hesperia managed to move the bar even lower. The best thing from our meal was the appetizers. Miso soup - fine. Beef gyoza - frozen, but fine. Wife had the baked mussels - yes, also fine. The rolls were a disaster. Why did my spicy tuna roll taste like vinegar and appear borderline brown in color? Why did all our rolls need to be drowned in sauce & soggy? We've eaten at the Yoshi in VV, and despite the fact that it was filthy dirty (don't sit at the sushi bar), the food was actually pretty good. This one was truly awful. If It were possible to give zero stars, I would. If you've never had truly good sushi, you won't know the difference. I do. Never again with this place. read more

Great selection of food here! Starting with a miso soup, add a little sriracha and it's a top notch bowl of soup. The service is always wonderful and quick. It's easy to grab a table and I've never left had to wait at lunch but have not visited at dinner time. I'd love to sit here and try more off of the menu. The atmosphere is generic and not clean yet but they have a good amount of seating. The hi desert special is a great assortment of items and comes with miso soup and an appetizer. I have a shellfish allergy and they are attentive to making sure I'm okay if it's fried in the same oil and I am lucky that I can say yes. I appreciate their concern each time. They gyoza is wonderful and fried to perfection, the paired sauce is tasty and a complimentary to the gyoza. The 911 roll is probably my favorite. But honestly there's a lot of great choices for all sushi lovers. The heart attack has two options available one with just spicy tuna, which is what I enjoy or a mixed fish option. I would love this in the high desert special but that has mixed fish only and they do not allow any substitutions besides the request for soy paper which I prefer. The food here is delicious! And the price for all you can eat Sushi is good! I've been to other places that charge much more. We were here during lunch hours so price was considerably less. They have what is called a dynamite roll and heart attack oh wow these two had to be my favorite! They were very very good! The Ice green tea had a different flavor to it but still okay. I'm surprised to see positive reviews, it makes me wonder if theyre real reviews or paid for reviews. Who knows. but The food sucked, the service made it all so much worse. I think my boyfriend hates it more than me, he was pretty pissed at our experience here. I asked him how many stars I should rate and he said "0 if possible". I shared a picture, but their "spicy mayo" looked, extremely questionable. And they charged us for it. It was by far the grossest spicy mayo I've had. I don't even know what that was. But it was gross. We ordered a caterpillar roll, had no eel sauce on it. It was dry and plain. When asked for elk sauce on the side (charged me) it was extremely watery. So they clearly water down their sauces. Cheap and gross. We showed up 4 minutes before happy hour started, the server had "ask" the manager if we could still get the happy hour prices.... She had the worst energy. The place was dirty. The manager was just standing there watching everyone eat, seemed liked she couldn't wait for everyone to leave, not just our table. A "kids drink" is an adult cup. So that sucked for my toddler. It was a mess. It was expensive in the end. We usually go to Yoshi sushi off kentwood in Victorville by the courthouse. (Highly recommended) That's our go-to sushi place. After this experience here we will probably give up trying new spots. I wouldn't go here. Had delivery via DoorDash and may not have applied the sauces as intended but this was incredible. The variety of fresh fish was delectable and comparable to the best sushi I've had anywhere else. The salad was intended as an appetizer but could have easily been the entirety of my meal. Yoshi, finally a place to grab sushi in the area not from Von's or Stater Brothers. I like the location the associates are friendly the food came out promptly. Besides being fresh and good service I find the sushi rolls much larger than those at Von's and grocery store. I will say that they were fat rolls, however if my hand skill is to blame I'll take it, however a couple of my dragon rolls fell apart as I tried to left them off the plate, other than that everything was great. Fresh sushi found here! We stopped in on a Tuesday for a late lunch and were pleased with the selection of sushi at Yoshi -- even smelt egg sushi (!!) and sake. We had the combo lunch and a separate order of veggie sushi rolls. The price was good and the combo plate is a good choice. Fresh, pretty and plenty for both of us. Service was right there, helping us understand the menu and pick the right amount for two people. Ambiance is minimal. It's not a fancy place nor is it large, but in one corner was a party of 3 moms with kids so they can accommodate groups when necessary. My only disappointment was the Udon noodle soup isn't vegetarian; made with pork broth. Next visit we'll try the vegetable tempura. read more

This is probably one of the nicest surprises I experienced. The quality and freshness of the sushi was amazing. As good as or perhaps better then most sushi restaurants in any major cities. This is our go-to place for sushi in the high desert. With three young children we don't eat out a lot, and sushi is definitely a treat. Let me start out by saying that we don't really WANT to love this place. It's a bit far for us and we have to pass about twenty sushi places to get to the other side of town (it's at Hesperia Rd and Bear Valley). The ambiance is...well, not our taste really. The good thing is that they don't have music blaring, so the background noise is not offensive. But the bad of it is that the seats are very close together so it feels like you are sitting with other families sometimes. So why do we keep going back? The food is great and the staff are very friendly. They greet us happily every time we come. And they seem to remember our orders, even though we only come a few times per year. The fish has always been fresh and well presented, and the sauces are amazing. Every time we visit another sushi place in the high desert, we are always reminded of why this is our spot. read more

We waited quite a while to get our order put in and then to get our food. Our server was all over the place except our table. I was running errands and decided to walk in and grab a roll to try them out. After I was seated I learned that they offered an AYCE special every day of the week. Unlike other places you only get two rounds, and some of the special rolls are limited to one per customer. If you leave anything you have to pay for it. It's understandable considering the location and the quality they provide. I did not need a round 2. Nigiri was fresh and they didn't skimp. It was all a la carte sized pieces. The special rolls were creative and delicious. The staff was polite and attentive. TLDR: This place was a pleasant surprise.
