First time date night here with my husband, called at 4:45 and the hostess said they'd save us a table if we could arrive soon. Friendly greeting and fast seating upon arrival. Waiter told us about a few popular menu items and we ordered. Delicious bread with homemade butter was served as we awaited our meals--yum! We ordered the rice ball appetizer (baseball sized) and loved the flavor and texture of it! I ordered the Scottish salmon, sautéed kale, and garlic Parmesan risotto--every bite was divine. My husband ordered chicken parm over ziti with their homemade marinara and enjoyed it. The chef/owner stopped by to chat twice and to assure our meals were to our liking--other than the salmon being medium (chef fixed this), our meals were wonderful! A tray of dessert selections was brought around but we (sadly) hadn't saved room for dessert--next time for sure! Very nice little place. The owner and his wife are very friendly. The other staff was very nice also. The sausage is excellent. He said it comes from New Jersey. I heard of this place through a friend and I'm so glad I decided to check it out! The food is AMAZING and so comforting. It's almost like an authentic home cooked Italian meal. I can honestly say I've never had a better plate of pasta in my life. Also, for you wine drinkers out there, they have a huge (delicious) selection for pretty cheap. Not only is the food amazing, so is the service. Our waitress, Jacqui, was so down to earth and beyond sweet. She treated my friends and I like friends instead of someone just trying to take our order. I'll be requesting to sit in her section whenever I go from now on. Everyone just appeared so friendly and sweet. In fact, when we first walked in, this woman greeted us with a genuine smile and helped us to our seat. My wife and I really enjoyed Silvio's restaurant tonight. It is her birthday and she wanted to try it out. The experience was wonderful. The staff and the owner were very friendly and courteous. The ambiance was cozy and comfortable. Now for the food, which I give a 5 plus. My wife had pasta and meatball with the Melillo salad. The meatball was huge and very flavorful. I had the Aglio Olio, which is angel hair pasta tossed with olive oil and garlic sauce, and the Melillo salad. There was plenty of my favorite pasta to twirl. They used red pepper flakes to spice it up a little and I added grilled chicken. On the whole a wonderful experience. We'll be back!! read more

Dinner club of 6 had dinner here. Great service but we won't need to return. Most things we ordered they were out of and out reservation was at 7. Salad was ok. Bread was it house made. It was a sliced cold ciabatta roll. My food was ok. I've had more flavorful food at other restaurants. Was great for a group of 6 but overall space was small and rather noisy. Husband and I were in town celebrating our wedding anniversary. We used yelp to find Silvios. We were greeted by the nicest hostess. The service was wonderful. The food was amazing. It was such a family atmosphere. The owner came out and greeted us and asked how we liked our food. He talked to us for a few minutes. Made us feel right at home. When he found out it was our anniversary, he sent out a couple cannolis for us. They were amazing. The shells were brought in from Brooklyn, NY. The lemon zest was perfect. My husband and I went last night to celebrate our anniversary and are happy we did. Silvio's is cute quaint restaurant that makes you feel at home. We tried the chicken Parm and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and capers. The alfredo was creamy and tasty. We also added a meatball and sausage on the side. The meatball is to die for. It's covered in their marinara sauce, tender and flavorful. We ended our night with the Italian cream cake. It was a soft cake topped with a decadent frosting. My mouth is watering as I write this. Momma Mia!!!! This place transported me back straight to modern day Italy. We were greeted at the door by the owner with a smile and a hug, we only had to wait a few minutes for a table and were seated at a candle lit table for two. They had our favorite wine and got our appetizer in fast. Bread and whipped salted butter Arrived at the table first. Holy **** the whipped butter!!!!!!!. On a whim, I decided to look on Yelp as we were heading out the door and found Silvio's. Wow. The staff was very friendly, the owner was even friendlier and came by to talk to us twice. What a pleasant surprise in the heart of St.Mathews. We had no idea this place existed until it was recommended by a friend. First, the atmosphere was excellent for a small venue. The owner knowing this was our first visit made sure to stop by the table and actually engage in conversation with us which I thought was nice. The food however is the star of this show. Silvio's offers up "East Coast Italian" and I admit, I don't know the difference between East Coast or West Coast...but the food was outstanding, made from scratch all of it. I took the family to eat at Silvio's on Friday night. Love the atmosphere of this place. The service was excellent. We enjoyed appetizers of the mussels in the white wine sauce, along with fried calamari. Both were excellent. If you dine here you must try the pasta fagioli soup. Amazing. The chicken Parm I ordered was fantastic. It's also fun when Bill the owner/chef comes to visit each table. We enjoyed a wonderful evening out! Came with a group of 10 Saturday night and we were not disappointed. We had Ashley as our server and she was amazing. Service was on point. Drinks never empty, dishes taken away immediately which seems to rarely happen when we come with parties here. I will be requesting her every time I come now! The cream was to die for. We also had chocolate cheesecake and tiramisu which we both equally delicious. The only thing I can complain about would be that my husband made a comment that his Bolognese was watery but still good. Thanks for always showing us a good time. We will be back soon! Bit of a hidden gem in Louisville (which is fine by me since it's always fairly easy to get a table or a spot at the bar), but I do think it's the best Italian in the city. Reasonable prices at around $13-$25 for an entree depending upon what you get. The staff are all very experienced, knowledgeable and attentive - we've never had anything less than stellar customer service. To top it off, the owner comes around and makes a point to say hi to everyone and talk to them about the food. He sources most of the ingredients from Italy or NY which is great to know you're getting authentic and high quality! The grilled Roma crunch salad is a must get, and you can't go wrong with any of the entrees (my favorite is the veal Parmesan). If you're looking for a great Italian meal and a couple of glasses of wine at a reasonable price, try Silvio's! read more

Delicious Italian fare at a reasonable price! My hubby and I are always looking to support local/non-chain restaurants whenever possible. While on our way to another restaurant in St Matthews I noticed the sign for Silvio's. It sounded Italian, so I excitedly looked them up. It was their "Rice Ball" appetizer that caught my attention. So, the next night we called and made a reservation. Initially we were a little disappointed to be seated in a table against the wall, near the hallway. Apparently these are tables for 1st time guests. The table was also wobbly. We thought "wow, bad start". Immediately several of the employees noticed the issue with the table, and corrected it for us. Then we ordered a rice ball (enough for two people to share). It was very good! We could tell right away that the marinara was made in house, and that they are particular when selecting their ingredients. We placed our order for the Chicken Parm, and the Roast Beef special. While we were waiting for our meal, we noticed that a nice gentleman was going around greeting each table. As he got closer to our table, it became clear that this was Silvio. He greeted us, inquired how we were, and asked if we were enjoying our evening, and what we ordered. Chatted a bit more, then moved on to another table. What a great guy! If the food was bad, that probably would have almost completely redeemed the evening. However, the food was wonderful! Great place, kind service, enjoyable experience! Worth trying! read more

Went to Silvio's for the first time last night...what a treat!! Haven't had Italian food this could in a long, long time. Everything is made fresh and the owner and his wife walk from table to table sharing their thoughts and checking on things. The atmosphere is warm and cozy (make sure to make reservations) which makes it feel less like being at a restaurant and more like your dining with family and friends. The bread is outstanding, the bolongnese sauce is full of meat and flavor and the meatballs are HUGE. A very enjoyable experience and looking forward to the next visit. read more
