Friends gave us a gift card for our anniversary and they joined us for dinner. We had a reservation and we're seated immediately. The staff brought water and bread/butter promptly. We all drank water, soda or tea and they kept our glasses filled. We ordered the pork chop dinner that came with risotto and vegetables. My husband loved the veggies and risotto but was not thrilled with the chop. He wishes he would have asked for a steak knife as it was difficult to cut with the butter knife provided. It was tender enough but neither of us cared for the flavor. I had the Primavera. It was a bit bland. I had to salt it several times. Our favorite part of the meal was dessert. We had a piece of lemoncello cake that was flavorful, creamy and light. We both thought it was great. We had about $20 left on our gift card and were disappointed we couldn't use the balance as the tip. So we ordered two more desserts to bring home to use the balance of the gift card. We brought homemade a piece of Italian cream cake that was as good or better than the lemoncello cake and it was a huge piece of cake. We also have a piece of caramel sea salt cheesecake which was pretty good. It was loud in the small space and a bit difficult to have a conversation across the table. The background music did not help with this issue. The staff were friendly and helpful boxing up our leftovers. Tables have white cloth tablecloths and the owner was making rounds to greet all the patrons which was nice. We discovered there is parking in the back of the restaurant, as so many of the spaces in the area have signs indicating you will be towed if you park there. First time visit and my last time. People were dressed to impress, too bad this place didn't live up to the hype. Got two dinners and two desserts. On a positive note they give you very large portions and quick service. The pork chop was extremely super thick like 5 inches. Unfortunately the parking is very limiting had to park down the street and park on the street. The food is pricy and tasteless. The dessert was ok and extremely light tasting. Absolutely wonderful. Came from Cleveland for a weekend in Louisville and read reviews for Silvos so decided to try it. Best Linguine with clam sauce I've had in years and my Husband loved their sauce for spaghetti. Owner came over and talked with us to check how everything was. I Last reviewed Silvio's 7 years ago, this place has become a staple for premier Italian food in Louisville. I've run the entire menus of pasta dishes, and without fail, they are always excellent. This time, for the first time, I tried something non-pasta, which was hard because this place is so top notch for a pasta dish, but I figured I would just steal some of my wife's pasta dish if I didn't like my pork chop. But there was no worry. That was one of the thickest and juiciest cuts of bone-in pork I've had in ages! It was like a tomahawk steak but as a pork chop. The glaze was perfection, and the whole chop was perfectly done. The veggies were the perfect complement and everything went together nicely, and as always, Bill comes out to check how things are going. We love this place, and try to go once every 4-5 weeks or so. Silvio's remains a great option for filling, indulgent Italian that you don't need to wait for a special occasion to eat. It's more approachable than fine dining but still refined a bit to feel a little fancy. And the food seems reliably delicious. Or at least that's the sense I got after visiting for the first time in many years recently. My friend and I were able to get a table, though the restaurant did seem pretty busy. I enjoyed a glass of wine from the menu that started the meal off right. And then I dug into the bolognese. This four-meat sauce is served in rigatoni. It's not fussy, just delicious. The ambiance was cozy enough that you could talk to your dinner mate without shouting but also not feel cramped. We ordered a Caesar salad, eggplant parmesan, cheese lasagna with a meatball, and broccoli. The food arrived quickly, was flavorful, and had huge portions. Silvio's is a small, hidden restaurant in Louisville that we never heard of. They fit us in and quickly converted us. The service is unmatched, with the owners making sure your visit is special and all your dining needs are met. They are known for chicken parm however, we went for the lasagna and it was the best I have ever had. We are headed back soon for the chicken parm soon. Spaghetti with meatballs was classic and hit the spot. The meatballs were juicy and had a great texture, not too dense. The sauce had just enough herbs to make it feel homemade. Have been going here for a while now but I'll talk about my most recent experience. Arrived for an early dinner. It's a nice cozy local family owned restaurant. The hostess was friendly and showed us to our table. I had the grilled romaine appetizer and wife had the Bruschetta. Both were fantastic. I then had a cheese lasagna and wife had the pork chop. I loved my Lasagna but the pork chop was even better. Then the chef came out and talked to everyone. Very friendly. For dessert I got the lemon cello which was again great. Food was very overpriced. Somewhat flavorful but uninspired and DEFINITELY not worth $25-35 a plate. ($13 for a basic Caesar salad with no protein). We were drawn in by the architecture from the street, but inside it felt a little rundown and again, uninspired. With that kind of a structure, I would expect a little more thought to go into the ambience. We were also served our food by a young man who I thought might be the son of the owners because of his sense of disconnect with customers and his job. He seemed like he could care less. We went to Silvio's on a date night and it was such a pleasant experience. It is a small intimate place with a friendly feel. Parking is limited so prepare for that. Our service was wonderful and our food came out fairly quickly. I had the Bolognese, which was good, but I would probably get something else next time. It had something with a bit of a kick in it. My husband (who doesn't really enjoy going out for pasta) loved his Chicken park and raves about Silvio's being the best Italian restaurant in the city.
