I have been going to her for over 23 years! She started treating my family when I was just a kid and she was just starting out. Despite various moves around the Bay Area, I have always kept her as my dentist. I always knew she was phenomenal but the proof was when my boyfriend at the time had some cavities filled by his childhood dentist and something seemed off. I took him to Dr. Salimi and she fixed them (apparently they were filled poorly). He has never gone to anyone else since! We're now married and we are 100% customers for life. Her office is beautiful with an excellent view and she is extremely kind and thorough. And whether it was Matt or now Claire, the office staff has always been wonderful! They really remember you and ask about updates and everything. I genuinely worry about what I will do once she eventually retires (hopefully far, far in the future). read more

Following the crown lengthening procedure that Dr. Gasper did to expose enough tooth for a crown Dr. Salimi placed a lovely crown on my rear molar. I've been chewing for a few days now and it's awesome. She layed out the options quite clearly and was willing to answer any and all questions I had, even the really stupid ones. Long story short, I went with the gold crown, not because I plan on starting a career as a rapper, but because a) she had one, and said most dentists will get gold if its in the rear and cosmetics are not an issue b) its the closest thing to your natural enamel and c) won't chip the way a porcelain tooth can. It was a terrific experience and I'm thrilled with my new chomper. Prior to the crown and the lengthening procedure she did a cleaning and removed some rather heavy spots of calculus. I was told by the Endodontist I went to see in LA that these were permanent and could not be removed. She said nonsense... I feel like I got a second chance here! read more

I have been a patient with Dr. Salimi since 2004. She is GREAT and I would definitely recommend her practice! Some of the things I like in particular: - She is very up-to-date on latest technology and procedures (she actually teaches at USF and attends many many conferences) - Gentle. Maybe I should have put that #1? :) - Beautiful, upscale offices. I call it dentistry with a view (i.e. Marina and Bay) - Honest and not out there to make money. E.g. she wouldn't hesitate to refer you to another dentist for expert opinions. *** UPDATE *** Fast forward 6 years or so since I have first written this review, I now have 2 small girls (almost 2 and 3yrs old) who are both patients with Dr. Salimi. Dr. Salimi is great with children, not just wrt gently familiarizing them with "going to the dentist", but also in terms of offering a kid friendly environment (books, videos, etc). Funny fact: my youngest daughter Sahar didn't want to watch the video anymore but wanted to spend time "with daddy". All our three kids literally love coming here and they also make some drawings for Dr. Salimi because they like her so much. The first time I was there, she asked me why I did not go dentist often. I told her not all detist were gentle and I hadn't found one that I was comfortable with after I moved to the city. I told her I need to fix my bridge and she said for the first time patient she needed to give a full evaluation before she did anything. But she did not tell me that'll cost me about $90. I guess I would be ok with it if I was satisfied with her service. The device I had to put in the month to take x-ray somehow hurt my mouth a lot and I had trouble closing my mouth. The tighter I closed my mouth the more it hurt. She kept telling me "it won't hurt you, close your mouth. Close your mouth. Close your mouth." I told her it hurt and she could only say, we were almost done. She cleaned my teeth and told me my gum bled way too much (quote her). The following day, my gum had a bacteria infection and was swolen twice bigger. It was Memorial Day long weekend. I had no help at all and I could only have liquid food for 3 days. It really hurt. I would expect her to tell me what could happen with my gum bleeding so much that day. And tell me what I could do if bacteria infection happend over the weekend. She was not professional enough with me. I never saw her again after my first and only time there. read more

My experience was first class, but my bill also fit what a first class bill would look like. Before I came into Dr. Salimi's office, I gave the front desk staff my insurance information and made sure before I came in that my office visit would be covered for a routine, cleaning and x-ray exam - they assured me it was and I came in for my visit in June. One month later, I received a bill for $272 because my insurance didn't cover my visit and only paid for part of the bill. Now I'm stuck paying as much as I would've had I been self-pay patient and and less $272. Staff was very nice and so was doctor. read more

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Salimi since a friend recommended her to us when we moved here 4 years ago. We've been recommending her to people ever since. She and Matt, her assistant, are both kind and pleasant to work with. They pay attention to detail, take the time to listen, and thoughtfully answer any questions or concerns I might have. Dr. Salimi's team truly connects with patients which is such a positive experience, the opposite of mundane transactional experiences generally associated with doctors offices. Okay, now I'm going to admit I have a couple of fillings (sorry, I love sweets) and I'm not a fan of pain, especially anything that involves dental work. However, I'd have to say Dr. Salimi does such a great work at taking the time to explain the procedure along with her dentistry expertise, it makes the whole experience SUPER easy! I've been going here for a decade, and it's been a great experience. Dr. Salimi and her team are friendly and efficient -- and the space is excellent and relaxing. Cucumber water and a view over San Francisco plus great light make this place much different from your typical office. They're very friendly, but not overly so -- it's always challenging to have a dentist who likes small talk when you have a pick and a mirror in your mouth. My fiancé and I just had our first appointment there and it was great. Matt and Sima were very inviting and put us in chairs next to each other and worked on us both at the same time. They asked us numerous times if we had questions and gave recommendations on what we should do to prevent gum diseases. All around they made it a great experience. This is a dishonest individual that should be stripped of her title and the right to practice dentistry. About four years ago, I went to her practice with no pain and no discomfort for what I thought was a routine cleaning appointment. She gave me two cavity fillings which I'm convinced were totally fabricated. The first filling required a root canal less than a week after her procedure. The second filling was so poorly performed that my tooth began to decay right below her procedure which now requires a full crown. Needless to say, the two teeth she worked on has been the source for great deal of pain and discomfort, not mention illigitimate revenue to the profession. Before going to her, I had almost perfect teeth with only one filling done roughly 20 years prior by a dentist who is now retired. read more

The office is clean & comfortable. Dr. Salimi is nice/does a good job (only had fillings & cleanings). Butttt, make sure u know exactly what your insurance covers and does not BEFORE u go. Office staff will not tell u. Dr. Salimi used to be "in network" and therefore always had free teeth cleanings. The office only accepts certain blue cross pts now and i am no longer one of them....so i got stuck with a bill for over $200. The office did ask me if i still had the same insurance (which i do)...but failed to tell me that i am no longer part of the group they accept. They did offer me a payment plan for the bill. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Salimi since 2002 and she is easily the best dentist I know. I should preface my remarks by noting that historically, I have never ever enjoyed going to the dentist. However, Dr. Salimi has shaped her practice and designed her office to be comforting and pleasant in all respects, so I am happy to go twice annually. Dr. Salimi is kind and professional and always puts the patient's interests first--I once needed a loose filling replaced on the spot (coincidence--it loosened the day before my appointment) and even though I didn't schedule a filling along with my cleaning, she took care of replacing it and never made her other appointments late. She also takes the time to explain new technologies and competing products (like whiteners) and never makes you feel like you're taking too much time. I highly recommend her as a dentist! As long as I live in SF, I will keep my appointments. read more
