Ordered the spring rolls with pork and shrimp ($12.50), salt & pepper chicken wings ($8), Cabbage salad with lemongrass chicken ($16), Cabbage salad with grilled prawns, and a Pork Vermicelli bowl. All the dishes were nicely made and flavorful. Tasted pretty authentic to me, and my friends. We'll be coming back the next time we're in the area. We started with the Crispy Tofu - great starter - She got the Prawn Curry and I the Tofu one as I have a drive home in a bit! Not too crowded during lunch hours, but I was glad it wasn't since my family and I were all hungry. I got a vermicelli noodle bowl with BBQ grilled pork and it was really good! I think it was just the right amount of pork, noodle, and salad. The bowl and accompanying fish sauce is what you'd normally expect from a Vietnamese restaurant, so no surprise there. I recommend next time for anyone wanting a vermicelli bowl to add in an egg and fried roll to really enjoy the bowl more. The fried roll can be dipped into the fish sauce before pouring it all over the whole bowl and it also adds the crunchy texture element to the bowl, since the bowl itself is more soft. I'm hoping the next time I come back, their pho will be just as good, although the prices make me think otherwise, since pho is usually cheaper than what I currently see. read more

It was 3:00 and we needed calories since we had skipped breakfast and lunch. We did a yelp search on highly rated restaurants in the area and came across Simmer in Rohnert Park. We had been to the one in Petaluma so we decided to give this one a try. The restaurant feels spacious with open tall ceilings and a large bar/counter area. The tables are comfortably spaced apart and our host let us pick where we wanted to sit. Our server was Stanley and he was very polite and friendly. He came by promptly with our waters, napkins, forks, including chop sticks. There was a TV in our dining area with a football game playing. We ordered the curry noodles with chicken as well as my favorite, the vermicelli bowl with BBQ pork. The kitchen prepared our meals quickly and I was very pleased with the flavors and colors! I had a couple sips of the curry noodles and it had a robust rich flavor. Absolutely delicious! The surprise ingredient in this dish is taro. It has a nice level of spicy and definitely not a boring noodle soup. My vermicelli bowl was outstanding with generous amounts of sliced BBQ pork, lettuce and vermicelli noodles. We will definitely stop by again when we're in the area. They offer many different kinds of pho, fried rice, chow fun, vegetarian dishes and house specials. Pho real! Delish! I was in the area yesterday so had to try the raved-about Simmer! I placed a to-go order of the Pho with vegetables and vegetable broth plus fried tofu, totaling around $18. Not cheap but it made 2 meals. I ordered mid afternoon (around 3pm when the restaurant wasn't too busy) and it was ready within 15 minutes. Simmer is located in a strip mall with CVS and Safeway - the parking is plentiful and there are options for errand-running while you wait for your food. The food was packaged in components so that nothing would get soggy - love that! The container of broth was huge, easily 2 servings. The noodle portion was also quite substantial. The noodles, bean sprouts, tofu, and veggies still tasted fresh and delicious after my 20-minute drive home. Just wish the portion of veggies (broccoli, carrots, bok choy, scallions) was larger. I combined all the ingredients and enjoyed a large bowl of this flavorful soup for linner (lunch/dinner) and then had another large bowl for breakfast this morning. The flavors this morning were even more vibrant as they had time to mingle overnight. The couple slices of jalapeño added a subtle kick and I really enjoyed it. I'll definitely order again (or try dining there) when I'm back in the Rohnert Park area. Also look forward to trying their other Simmer locations! read more

Simmer knows how to warm up your belly! Seriously though this place is great and the food will leave you happy. My go to order is the rice plate with prawns and fish sauce and a salad. The shrimp are always cooked to perfection and the fish sauce is on point. The pho looks amazing too! My friend asked about the vegetarian pho once and the owner let us try a sample of the broth. Usually,​ vegetable broth is nothing to rave about but this was amazing! They make it in-house and it has some great flavor. Plus, the prices are good too. They are usually pretty busy with takeout in addition to dine in so this is a popular spot. The flavor of the Salt and Pepper Calamari was amazing. But some of the calamari itself was tough and chewy. Total bummer. I got the BBQ Pork with vermicelli and the pork itself was moist and super flavorful but the rest needed something acidic or some fresh herbs to boost up the flavor. My husband got the Pho and added all sorts of hot sauces to it. But that's his preference. I did try a little before that and the broth seemed to have a lot of flavor to it. It's not the best pho I've ever had but it might be the best in Rohnert Park. I wish they had a veggie broth option and better vegetables. The service is always solid though, and the location is very clean with ample parking in the lot shared with Safeway. My favorite dish at the moment is the lemongrass tofu. There is so much flavor in that dish. The portions here are huge, so be ready to take food home. I usually order a pho bowl and the tofu and can make 3 meals out of it. Initially, when we experienced strange stomach aches and vomited, we didn't think much of it.
