Cancer and scans are scary. It is also complicated when you are first starting. When you become severely ill, understanding the health game becomes your life. A few tips: Get the referral first. Needs to come through primary, then passed to another affirmed affiliate like a neurologist. Once approved. The neurologist will put in order. Now you are covered. If you go with someone, have them take all belongings before you go in. Wear gym wear. No necklaces. No rings. Not metal. Leave phone and wallet with friend. Saves a good 10 minutes easy. Plus no bizarre changing into gowns. After 20 you know the game. Let me know if you have questions. This crew is the best though out of all on the block. Comfortable room. No gowns with what seem like see through windows. Privacy. Quick. When prepared and done right. Terrible service. I made an appointment for 4:00 arrived at 3:45 when checking in I was told that it's not a true appointment and waited until 4:50 to be called back. Other people came in around 4:30 and were turned away without being told other locations are open later. I will use SMIL moving forward. I wouldn't come to this location . Based on my experience and the reviews... Timing is an issue. Had an appointment for 4:20. Was told to come 15 min early. Arrived at 4:05... It is now almost 5 and I'm still in the waiting room. I was told I would be done by 4:35 and had planned on this. Now I'm scrambling to make alternative plans. I get being behind but there was no warning at check in, and it's been 30 minutes since my appointment. Some others had appointments before mine and are also still waiting... Finally asked at 5 how long of a wait and was told he literally got behind as I checked in. So just getting behind gets you over an hour behind schedule?! It's 5:10 pm now. Tell me something - what is it with the front desk clerks that makes them have such a mean chip on their shoulder?? I come in to.check in and the first person I approach barely looked at me and said she'd be with me in a moment. I waited ... and waited as I watched the other 2 clerks chat away. Then the second one (with a headband on) comes to sit at her desk and doesn't even look at me and before I could speak rolls her eyes and says "be with you in a minute". Thankfully the third person in the back waved me over and checked me in. As I sat down I noticed they were friendly with other patients that came in ... I did nothing to deserve this rudeness. You don't even know me maybe it's bc I'm old? Asian? Whatever it is!! It's no wonder patients get in such a foul mood after just walking in the front door. These ladies are in a medical facility. Central Scheduling: some of the scheduling folks are great. Stephanie, the Simon Med scheduler I had the displeasure of speaking with yesterday, was beyond rude. Talked over me, never addressed my questions, and no scheduling options were afforded to me (take this date and time or forget it, type attitude.) Moving forward, I will be taking my annual mammograms and follow-ups elsewhere. That is a sad testimony to Simon Med. I have been going to this location for well over 10 years now. According to my insurance company, Simon Med is the most expensive imaging choice around the valley. Before you make an appointment with Simon Med, do some research and homework with your insurance company. You have other imaging choices to choose from. Please know your insurance benefits before going here and have proof. They attempted to charge over $600 for an mri, when our plan copay is $200 for a stand alone facility which this is. They refused to call the insurance and refused service unless we provided a card and paid the over $600 price tag, that is, until we called our insurance provider ourselves while standing at the front desk. We sat for almost an hour when my husband was told it would be 15 minutes before he was called to the desk and told the X-ray tech wasn't certified to take this particular X-ray but here is a list of facilities you can try. I had a scheduled appointment. When I checked in I was told that the xray on my order could not be done. The order was for a hip xray. When I called Joseph had no idea what the problem was. While trying to solve my dilemma. I was put on hold, only to be hung up on. Worst customer service ever. Also, what kind of xray tech can't do a hip xray? Front desk was very nice. I arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled 1215 appointment. The chairs were old and very uncomfortable. After waiting for 35 minutes, I was called back. The tech would not allow me to put a pillow under my saying it would interfere scan. But it wouldn't have raised my higher than my chest. I have a spinal injury, (broken tailbone) and cannot lay on my back with my legs flat. It's very painful. To make matters worse she then set me in a chair next to the table and told me to scoot as far left as I could on the chair. It would've been fine if the chair had been flat, but it was a contour chair and it sent my back into even more spasms. I pray I will never have to go back to Simonmed deer valley. read more

X-ray tech kept chatting with front desk instead of working wasting peoples time...he apparently could only do the bare minimum of -rays so they turned multiple people away including older people who were barely able to walk around. Finally I get up there the girl looks at my insurance card runs over to another worker who JUST walked in the door then after 5 seconds comes back and says they don't take out insurance...they know nothing me and my mother who are on the same insurance just got imaging done and we called our insurance yes simonmed is in fact in network so she wasted our time. I've only ever gone to this location for my yearly mammogram, but have always had a good experience. This last time was no exception. Check-in was simple, as I did it online and only had to give my name and ID/insurance cards when I arrived. I was promptly led back after waiting for around 5 minutes and the technician made the process comfortable, quick, and relatively painless. I know that comfortable and painless are not words that come to mind with this procedure, but it was, and also quick. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. I received my results promptly both through the portal and in the mail, and I will be back next year. read more

I scheduled an appointment for a DEXA scan at 2:45 and after multiple reminders and being asked to arrive 15 minutes early was there at 2:30. Multiple people came and went and I was still waiting. After about 45 minutes I asked the girl at the front how much longer, was told I would be after the 3 people who were back for XRays. I watched them all leave and continued to wait. Finally at 3:50 I walked out. I worked in customer service for decades and at the very least should have been updated about my wait time. I was actually relieved to not be seen by the XRay tech who was working because he always seems annoyed to be there. I will go out of my way to avoid this location in the future. read more

I was a little concerned when I saw reviews for this place, but I was able to schedule an appointment online (mammogram) for the next week and the location was convenient. I filled out all the paperwork online, check in was easy and I was called back at, if not a little before, my appointment time. The tech was nice - all business, no small talk, but that was totally fine with me. She told me results would be mailed to me and my provider, but I got a link for their patient portal after my appointment and by the next morning the results were in. Then, when the appt. day arrives I am given paper work that again, appears as though I am a first time, never seen before patient. Once they booked the wrong type of appointment and sent me home. Once they called me a day before an appointment to tell me they didn't want to do imaging because the doctor used the wrong code, and balked at the idea of actually discussing it with the actual doctor. They've also been unable to open old test results and instead of letting me know, requested it electronically and then told me many many months later that I needed additional testing. (All was fine but one wonders why they didn't reach out to me to let me know the issue--what if there was actually something wrong?) They also always like people to show up 15 minutes early but are never ready on time so you end up spending a half hour in the waiting room. The forms are also annoying as you have to fill out two forms with the same exact information every time you need routine imaging; they struggle to use the information they already have from prior years or even moments prior. The technician who conducted my bone density scan was harsh and did not confirm my date of birth or my name. He ORDERED me to drop my pants around my ankles and never once looked at me but rather had his eyes on the monitor. He also opened the door prior to me putting on my gown. My results for a mammogram took over 3 weeks to get the results and even my doctors office could t get them to answer the phone. I attempted 3 times to call their manager and she never returned my call. I also wrote a letter to the CEO and he also never responded to my letter. 5 weeks after my mammogram I received a letter stating my results were negative. I've never been tested so inhumanly and will not return to any of their facilities. I highly recommend any of the other hospital labs but never again will I or my family go to a Simon med read more

I've become increasingly disillusioned with this location it used to be quick in and out for an x-ray with a rare occasional wait. This changed over my last few attempts. Numerous times I would use their x-ray waiting time online service and they showed 1 waiting. The last 2 times I was told their was either no tech in for the day or the machine was down. I was told the "wait time" portion of the webpage wasn't accurate but there were too many steps before it gets approved. Today was the topper. I called to see if they had a tech and was told yes and there was no ly two ahead of me. Gal at the desk said it would be up to a 60 min wait. Lots of names are being called back, but not me. After 90 minutes I go to fnd out what the hold up is and when I will be called. Was then told the machine is down again. The couldn't have told me this 60 minutes ago? Was told their Arrowhead location had only 1 person waiting. I head over to this second location, they look me up and I ask how many people are ahead of me and was then told they couldn't do the x-ray today, although the reason. SimonMed needs to get their wait time list act together so as not to waste peoples . Simon Med is the K-Mart of Medicine. It took 4 attempts to get an Xray due to waits of up to 2 hours. I called them to say 2 hours is an unreasonable time to wait with three walk in attempts. She apologized and scheduled me for an appointment. I get there 20 minutes before my appointment and they told me I will be seen 40 minutes after the scheduled appointment. When I relayed these facts to the receptionist, she simply blamed the lady I talked to on the phone. Same thing happened last time when they scheduled a CATscan on the phone I arrive at the appointment and was told that Simon Med does not do Catscans at that location. They suggested I go schedule at the location where they do Cat-scans. She gave me the address. I had her write it down. And they do not perform Cat-scans at the location either. Simon Med employees seem to fix the blame on their co-workers but do not fix the problem!!!!! read more

Went today to get a walk-in x-ray done. The hours are posted on their website as 8:30AM-4:30PM. The receptionist, Gabby, informed me that they closed at 4:00PM, and the hours had changed. She reported that she would inform her manager when I asked that the hours be updated on her website. I then asked if there was any way to see if another site could get me in. When she called her manager to see about this, the manager asked why they couldn't do the imaging today. She reported that the tech had gone home early. There's a big difference between someone needing to leave early and the business changing their hours permanently. There's a lack of integrity and honesty there. I filled out the form on the site in advance and paid in advance. I waited for an hour !!!! An hour later they told me that I need to go to another lab, but all the labs close in 2 minutes!!!! They schedule me at an office (Sun City) that doesnt do this test. Had to schedule at another office. Needed to get a prep kit 3 days prior and entailed me taking a Lyft which cost me more money. Morning of test called to tell me their technician was not there but could get me in at DeerValley that morning, This office is 10 min away whereas the one in SunCity took about 40 min drive. I should have been told this when I scheduled. I arrive there and taken back to the machine. I was in terrible pain while they shoved a tube up my rectum and bled profusely for several hours after. My Dr called 2 weeks later and told me the scan was unreadable and I will probably need to have another one at a local hospital. Now Im trying to get copay refund as I do not pay to be tortured and still have no results. UHC took my info and noted my records as to this and filing a grievance. But I needed to call SimonMed to get my refund. Deer Valley office & called the number but everyone passd the buck. It was a call center and not the facility. Unable to speak with anyone. Another complete waste of my time. I call UHC who also tried calling the number. This whole thing has me very upset and I will now need to have one done in a hospital. But I will be sure to have them give me something to knock me out. Why does Simon Med list a phone number when you can't get to speak to a human at their locations??? I had a CT scan on April 21, 2023 by a Tec. named Greg. I thought it was the BEST scan I ever had as there was a video surrounding the machine and one on the ceiling to watch while being scanned for my abdomen & pelvic. I do have anxiety and watching these pleasant video's sure helped me. I wish these video's were done all the time going in for a CT scan. Very pleasant experience by a caring Tec. and wonderful people at the front desk. read more
