We called in and ordered vegan and gluten free. I give them 4 stars for the effort, but it was a sad miss. We got a gluten free black bean wrap that was pretty good. The vegan sandwich that we were told was with tempeh, cashew cheese and savory veggies was disappointing. It had sliced boiled sweet potato, zucchini, carrot and yellow squash, dry tempeh and nothing else. I appreciate the vegan effort but this sandwich was plain, tasteless and odd. I hope they will have more vegan options in the future and if they do I'll be back to give them another try. read more

Love this place. My first food in Sarasota. I googled vegetable juice and Bam! I'm headed down 41 to my new fav place. I sat at the bar and met locals, cool waitresses, and I think the owner was even there. The waitress at the bar ground and brewed a fresh french vanilla right in front of us...she gets it. The gluten free and veg options from local sources is cutting edge in Florida. Also they make a number of blended fruit and/OR Vegetable Juices. The Veg juice is hard to come by given the lack of popularity(not sweet) but this place has almost every option available, even pea protein. read more

I love going to lunch at Simons! The food is always fresh and healthy. The service is always great... especially since they are always soooo busy no matter when you go! But even if you have to wait, it's never very long they are speedy with everything! Great teamwork at this place. And Simon is a pleasure to meet! Such a great locals Sarasota spot! Open for years with a genuine commitment to quality, Simon's justifiably has an impressive following. We always get Healthy Lemonade--freshly juiced apples and lemons--because it is so refreshing and delicious. Today we had a round of wheat grass shots, reasonably priced at $2.95 each and the kombucha. The service was friendly and excellent, as always, and we had the special Lettuce Wraps, a variety of house made soups (Split Pea, Chicken and Rice and Veggie Chili), a Garden salad and the tasty Chicken salad. Simon's is consistent and reliable and you can actually make healthy choices here! They serve lunch with the amazing bread from the Bavarian Bread Company next door--best bread in Sarasota! Simeon's is quintessential Sarasota, tucked discreetly into a basically nondescript strip mall across from the cemetery. We just left Simons and can not believe the experience we had this time. The waitress was a young girl who referred to everyone with a forced "sweetie". Don't understand the bad reviews about Simon's. I've lived in Sarasota for 2.5 years and have looked long and hard for a place that makes a good sandwich. I'll admit that the only thing I get here are the paninis. But WOW, are they great. Best sandwiches I have eaten in Sarasota. All their bread comes from the bakery right next door. They get it fresh every morning. The service at Simon's is amazing. The wait staff are all so friendly. Oh, their Cesar salad is also amazing. I rely on Yelp for a lot of restaurant recommendations in Sarasota since moving here. I have been disappointed 90% of the time with Yelp reviews. I heard about Simon's from my neighbors, not Yelp. Stopped here for lunch due to a suggestion by a local and was not disappointed. Was able to sit outside and enjoy the weather while also enjoying the food. I went vegetarian and ordered the veggie burger with a side of the purple cabbage cole slaw. The size of the sandwich was small (though plenty) but what it lacked it size it made up in flavor. Last week I ate at this place for the second time and there was hair in my food and I told the waitress. Instead of comping she said I will let the kitchen know. No replacement, no comp, no nothing. We spent a weekend in Sarasota (from Seattle) and visited Simon's twice for breakfast/brunch. My husband, daughter, and I are pescetarian but we largely eat vegetarian, so we were excited to see the sizable menu available for us. My mom, a meat-eater, was with us as well and enjoyed it just as much. They also have a bunch of smoothie options in addition to coffee. Very cool sandwich and coffee shop located in a very unassuming strip mall. They have a wide selection of healthy and eclectic sandwiches, salads, etc. They have a good wine list and great beer list. They are open for lunch and dinner. My husband ordered the roast beef sandwich and in his words.. "it was da bomb". Very tasty sandwiches, the word is out so get there before 12pm or after 1:30pm. I went there today for the first time with a family member. We both ordered a different sandwich from their 'daily specials' board. The sandwiches were great for three simple reasons: excellent quality bread, Boar's Head meats being used and their own signature sauce drizzled on each sandwich(were different one from the other). Simons is a small restaurant in a non impressive strip mall, but oh, what a great lunch we had there yesterday. We sat outside on a table on the sidewalk with our dog at our side. They kindly provided him with a bowl of water. I ordered a fabulous miso vegetable soup that was chock full of fresh vegetables. If I hadn't ordered a second dish, I could have easily had a second cup. Husband had a cup of delicious vegetarian black bean soup with all trimmings. Salmon en croute with dill sauce couldn't have been better. To top it all off, we took home an order of Mango Raspberry bread pudding and went to sleep that with the taste lingering in our mouths.
